Development Team Q&A

General Discussion Started Last reply 76 posts
The Lineage II Development Team enjoyed the recent Q&A so much that they want to hear from you again! This is another chance for you to ask your burning question for the dev team. Your question can be about the game in general, design, what's coming in the future, or about the team themselves. We will send some of the best questions to the team for a Q&A to be published on the official Lineage II web site at a later time.

Please use this opportunity to ask a question, not make a suggestion. And above all, please keep your question constructive. Any hostile, insulting, or inflammatory questions will not be considered and will be removed from the thread.

Thanks everyone! This thread will remain open until 12:00 PM CDT on Friday, August 25.
Is there any plans to add new colors for already existing armor? like armor dyes or something like it
The ever burning question which has been asked a million times, yet never really been answered... I dont know if you can actually tell us this, but its worth a shot

With the SA MM ever be actually removed from all present daggers with the SA?

If you can answer this, it might actually clear up a long asked question
Will all A grade armor recipes become available as drops/spoils? Right now on PTS only some of them have been added in.
Hello,

Pick and choose.

Will summons in the future be allowed to use potions/clan buffs/OL buffs?

Will Summoners be given the chance to have two summons out at one time, example so that a summoner can do the sin-eater quest and still have a summon out to fight.

Have you had any complaints that some of the new skills like erase/betray/fear are to powerful and discourge playing a summoner?

Will Pet SoulShot/SpiritShot/Blessed SpiritShot ever be craftable?

Why do Warlocks have a windstrike cubic, when humans are more fire attack based, will Warlocks ever get a fire based Cubic like the Elemental Summoner and the water based attack cubic?

Thanks
Balis
GotPie??
Will there be any boost for Temple Knights? Are we going to be getting any new unique skills on the upcoming major update (after c5) as most of our skills are shared with other tank classes. Also what about our 3rd cubic? would we ever have one?

Thats all for now :)
Any plans to add third buff row or other method to increase active buff amount ?
-With the increase of 3rd party program users, and the rise in the market by which some players buy in game currency, the ingame market has inflated alot. Are there any plans in future updates to combat this trend in the economy?

-The herbs (instant use pots) in c5 helped make soloing go a bit smoother (not much but anything is great). Do you have any future plans to help take the grind out even more so? If so, will you add additional benefits to the high level players who stuck with the the game through the grind?
Are there plans to implement Gracia, and the lands to the east of the Giran/DV/GC/ForbiddenGate/DevCastle line?
Is there any attempts at changing the policies of GM interactions on both the PTS and Live servers and how regularly they can with other plays?

Is the plans to maybe provide Spantaneous and uncalled for "events" that wouldn't have any announcements, and small enough not to warrant them, but enough to be expect often enough throughout the week in various places with massively interesting results.

Could we expect the Zeraiche sword (spelling bad i know) to possibly have alternatives in the future, allowing perhaps not a sword itself, but blunts/duals/polearms/fists/bows with similare qualities?

How long on average would a suggestion in which we provide in the suggestion forum, be taken to the developement team to possibly be created and made into the game itself? Would we expect this to be within 2 chronicles perhaps? (considering that a chronicle or 2 chronicles are already in prep the moment the Live servers are launched with the latest, example being, C5 is just about to launch on the live servers here, would we expect perhaps C8 to start including the stuff we've suggested today for the more elaborate and the less elaborate to be perhaps earlier? )
I would like to know about enchanting / overenchanting and the math behind it. I would also like to know if there is indeed a third variable, luck that is applied or different for each character in the game.

So the actual question would be what is the actual % that a weapon will overenchant by +1 or blow up, ie: 60/40 - sucess/failure, out of 100% chance. Does this change at all with each sucessive overenchant past the safe point of +3 and is there any other factor in the equation based on the character itself or is truly completely random each and every time by the same percentages??

I hope this question is worded so we can get an true "stickey" response that is the bottom line on echanting / over enchanting.

- Thank you.
During the last Q&A the Dev team stated that this would be the last update named Chronicle. What does this mean for future updates? What kind of updates will they be? For example: as Angdil mentioned, will we get more hunting zones or is the map fixed as is? Will the level be capped at 80 or will it go to 99? Are the only updates we are going to get only the ones that add in game events? (I hope not).
Prophets get Resist Fire and SEs get Resist Wind. Why doesn't the EE get Resist water?
What's the meaning of the 3 flags on the last part of C5 CG trailer ?
Why hasn't clans recieved the ability to give members access to the clan warehouse? This has become an even bigger issue now that clans are much large.
Hello!
- Any plans to host Teon (Eouro server) in Europe? To make gamplay more comfortable to Euro players.

- Any plans to give Sorcerer 2nd full range nuke with overhit, slike shadow flare SH?

- Then client got disconect, will be nice to have button reconect. Now only button OK, thats closes client and return to game takes long time (again need start client, enter pass, select char.)
Well, that's good as we liked having it. I can't say that everyone was satisfied with the answers since I imagine people wanted very "in depth" responses. But it was successful in its own way nonetheless.

My questions, pick and choose:

Can you elaborate on any of your future plans regarding where you see the game going. Not just "to make it the premiere pvp game on the market" but actual plans for how PvP will be implemented, new ways the players will interact, new areas, etc.

Do you have plans to expand and even alter the way equipment is presented in the game. Perhaps alternate ways to enhance equipment?

Are there plans to link the abilities of the Main Class/Sub Class system. For example, passing another type of class change where the character can access skills from the subclass. Maybe even incorporate new types of Elite armor and weapons so that Mage/Warrior Hybrids can have access to more the advantages of robes but the better defense that Armor allows?

Do you have plans to invigorate already existing areas? As it stands now, areas that used to be "major player areas" are empty, including Towns and hunting areas such as Cruma. It seems a shame to just add new areas when there is so much that could be done with areas that are already in the game.

Do you have plans to expand upon the gameplay elements of Raid Bosses? At the moment, as a nuker, I hold down F1 and my body pivots while the tank runs around the space and healers heal him until the Raid Boss is dead. It seems that the experience could be expanded with better AI and even interesting events during the raid. Thoughts?

The Demon Sword of Zariche (spelling?) seems to be one of the most anticipated additions to C5, even if it is for the complete "newness" of the idea. Can we expect other such game changing items or areas and if so could you elaborate on a few of them that might make it in the game?

It has been asked that you elaborate on what the future additions will be like since you stated that C5 was the last Chronicle. Many people took this to mean that there would be no more updates with substantial content.

Is the change in name just a change in how the story of Aden is to be told or are the new additons to the game going to be more along the line of items, gameplay elements and changes to the existing areas and less about story elements?
--- Are there any plans for more customizable characters? like dyes for armors, diferent skins for armor that you can choose from etc? it would be a very welcome addition imo.

As of now we dont have many options at all. For example in A/g we have 4 sets of each armor wich leads to that 90% of all characters of a certen kind look the same with some small variations of hair color and small accessories.
Do the Devs have any concepts for a change with the colliseum?

We cerrently have the Monster race track to Telliport to for free, but the arena there is too small for range classes to kite.

Do the devs have a idea to impalment a PvP tornament style compation simmular to the hero compation with the olympiad to the colliseum, one with rewords to the winners?
I would also add in: Are we getting more social actions, we have so few emots.
i'd like to see the colliseum actually quadruple in size.. i find it's not quite large enough to really call it a colliseum at all.. more like a larger arena.

Plus free port to that place would be ultimate if it were locked down. outside gates closed to only allow people to port in from the gate and those porting in from towns only porting back... same as monster race track... just different location and conception.
Two questions come to mind:

Many people like lineage 2 but have problems with how time consuming the game is and thus go to other more "casual friendly" games such as WoW. Many have in the past sugested a way to to solve this would be to introduce alternate rules servers such as a pure PvP server with higher XP rates and other features to make them more appealing to those with less time. Has NC soft considered introducing such servers and if not why?

With L3 coming soon many of us are very curious and interested in any news of the future of lineage. Does NC soft korea have any plans to improve the links between the NA and korea comunities so that NA players can offer imput on the development of L3 while is still in beta on korea?
After playing on the PTS with 10x drop rates the qustion I have is.

Is there any plans to raise the drop rate? Not xp/sp or adena just materials, parts and full items.

I know the PTS is so much more fun just being able to collect enough mats to craft stuff is a blast. Plus getting a full drop here and there makes me not want to go back to live server. I dont care about the xp SP or adena just getting something every kill is worth it.
there was a notes in the c2 patch notes about hero mobs that will save you when your low on hp/mp have those been removed or only for lower lvls?
I have several questions concerning people that play dwarves as their main characters. The thing is...all of these concerns go out the window with every Chronicle.

I used to voice my comments, but every Chronicle brings more "nerfs" to us. The classes that NCSoft tries to bring into balance, directy affects the dwarves because we share the same skills as other classes.

Dwarves have become useless, more and more with every Chronicle and no one listens to what we have to say, unfortunately.

If a dwarf doesn't subclass, they are meaningless and useless in the scheme of things. The Devs already said what they feel about the dwarves, so I have no question.

They should try playing one to 75 and then give us a response. Especially when they nerf us every Chronicle. Almost everything we ever had going for us has been taken away.

I know this will fall on deaf ears, as always, so I will leave it at that. Get to 75 fellow dwarves so that you can sub something else. Sorry to say it, but that's the only thing you can do as a dwarf main.

~Mac~
Trust me, I feel that pain. The new "economic benefits" we are supposed to get are really worthless to a dwarf. We need PVE and PVP skills... not something to help us sit in town with an AFK shop up. :(
By "economic benifits" do you mean in C5? That's what I thought....All they do is "talk" from what I have seen. When is the last time you saw a real benift added to a Chronicle for dwarves?

Most dwarves that are played are either bot parties or alts. The "real" dwarves are left to sub or be useless. My posts will get ignored as always. Just get to 75 so you can sub a useful class. The dwarves are done for but NCSoft doesn't have a clue.

~Mac~
plan to do anything about raid farmers?
I always see seige weopons laying around....the splash screen for the pts shows a burning seige tower...theres a catapult in oren castle town..... stuff like that....
my first question are we going to see new seige weopons one day?
I know those things in game look pretty in the towns, but id really like to have the ability as a player to say..nono really we have catapults, and there not just some background in a town.
Next is...if orcs are a war-like bunch, will they ever have, or any race for that matter, have there own specialty seige weopon?
I know that thats the dwarves cup of tea, but maybe you could give them something new to play with too?
When will Gludin's city wall get repaired, already?
Any plans to make DD's usefull in killing raidbosses? Currently only the number of nukers is important in determining if a raid boss can be killed or not.
I have a question.

It's coming from another thread.
It could clear once and for all the more debated issue on the boards.
And no it's not Server Transfer ;) (tho if you might ask don't hesitate lol)

It's about client security.
The Question :

Mizwisfist:
Will a client security system be installed that will prevent illegitimate software to connect to the Official servers?
If not, why?

Edit:
I might specify what type of security checks should be sufficient if needed of course.
You can also ask the devs about security 'off micro' ;)
The Olympiad is being massively exploited on most NA servers due to the extremely high timeframe it is active and the inventory full exploit. Can you fix the Olympiad so it's a real competition and not just a few people trading points late at night when no one is around. Almost everyone agrees that 4hours per night is far to long to ask people to watch the Olympiad NPC's incase someone registers. Make the competition on weekends only, it will suit NA servers perfectly.

Also can you remove the inventory full exploit people use to rig who fights who in the Olympiad, if you need clarification on what that exploit is, you can ask me.

Why did you ruin the Noblesse teleports. Many earned those special ports after leveling so hard and it was the best part of being Noblesse. Can you at least make the Noblesse teleports good again?

Are you ever going to fix the massive crit error bugs in sieges? We still crash all over the place on most castles and it really effects how sieges work for us. I'm sure hundreds of players will gladly spend time testing this for you, if you can fix it.

I don't know about in Korea, but in NA almost half the population of each server are automated characters (bots), do you view this as a problem and will you ever take action against it?

Could you add a random security image to the login screen (like when you register for new emails or forums) that displays a few characters/numbers in a disguised image. These are used to stop automatic registrations, and for L2 they could be used to stop bot programs logging in automatically. It wouldn't stop the bots but it would make it impossible for them to login while no one is operating them. This would be very helpful against bots who always logout if people walk near and come back 2minutes later. I have more details available about this idea if you ever want them!

There's a few, I guess some are suggestive questions rather than just questions, oh well, none of my last ones got asked so I doubt these will either.
Are drops time or server population based?

What is gameguard for when automated characters are rampant anyway? Will you finally admit and police this situation?

When will dark elves finally stop cutting their heads off during casting animation?

Shortcut bar lock: why on earth it took 5 chronicles to implement such vital thing? Applies to many other features too ...
I Would like to Add about ~SwordSingers~, I understand that SWS have a Agro/Root skill on C5, but do thay get eny Over-Hit skills or a Atk Skill. in the Futcher

Aslo Do Pets like Wolfs. get Skills of eny tipe. as fare as i know all thay do is Atk.

I know Games sapos to be fun and well the Griend is not as fun as it looks realy, adding skills would bust up the fun a little i think.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
sry for the Spelling :p
With the new larger clan introduced in C5, are there any plans to increase the size of the Clan Warehouse? Either by additional slots being made avaible as the clan levels up or though a quest like the Fishing one.
The Demonic Sword Zariche is of limited use to several classes in the game Daggers, Archers, Blade Dancers.... are examples of classes that loose most of thier skils when they pick up the sword. Are there any plans to add other cursed weapons or perhaps allow Zariche to change into a sutable weapon type for the class that picks it up?
Q: In the last Q&A you guys responded about dwarves that you plan to make them beter at the economic side in the game, may we ask when, and how, becose every chronicle so far the dwarven race have ben worser and worser at this, things like manorn, craft shop and so on have made it almost impossibel to earn good cash as a dwarf. And you just responded that you won't increse us in PVP, and neither have you guys made us beter at money making.
I quote these two question, because they are very important for the summoner class.
So, these would be my questions too :)
(Quoted for truth ;) )
It seems that the use of third-party clients (bot programs) are growing at a rate faster than the GMs can control. That is, more bots come than go. It has reached the point where legitimate players feel pressured to actually start using third party programs just to stay competitive, even though they would prefer not to, since there seems to be little risk and so much success has been shown with their use. Players actually feel in the minority for playing "legit" now.
To me, it seems that an automated solution would be more effective, such as the often-suggested "change the protocol and see who is still using the old protocol, those are obviously unauthorized client" idea or numerous others. Private servers are able to block the unauthorized clients at login, instead of deploying customer service staff to investigate each report.
Are there any plans to implement technical restrictions, developed in-house or through a third-party developer like Even Balance (developeds of Punkbuster, doing something similar for Ultima Online), for Lineage 2?
This would not actually work. All this would do is require that someone is present at the keyboard to log an account in. Most bot groups do have someone controlling the bots, if they did not it would be very easy for play nc to ban them. As it is 1 player controls x number of bot groups and is therefore present at the keyboard when the gm's try to contact them. All that would need to be change by adding an image to the log on screen would do is make the 3rd party programs display this image at startup and the controller types the code in and logs that account on. The rest after this is the same. And so it would just slow them down logging in and would not reduce the number of bots.
With the recent increased intrest in securing the connection to the game servers. Has any thought been given to replacing Blowfish with pgp ( http://www.pgpi.org/ ) and changing the cypher key pairs at every mainance?
The thing is, it's the method in which it's implemented.
Secondly, it's all been discussed and there is absalutely zero reason to implement it in the simplest of forms. As the following would produce:
1: A person MUST enter it (stops auto login completely, and quite likely able to completely stop forcelogging on unattented botters)
2: Very VERY little hassle for the real player base, as punching in a few extra letters/numbers is 5 seconds.
3: More work for the botters to begin with since for every server reboot or instance of a crash or DC or what have you, they still HAVE to punch it in themselves.
There simply is zero faults in the concept. Further better implementations could make it impossible for a unofficial client to display this image using a complex for for security and constantly rolling updates and changes to the code which would require someone to do thorough work in attempting to find the new changed code, apply it, and then make it available again for all the cheaters to redownload.
Just a reminder to everyone -- please keep this thread to questions, rather than a discussion of other questions. I appreciate it!
With the recent increased intrest in securing the connection to the game servers. Has any thought been given to replacing Blowfish with pgp ( http://www.pgpi.org/ ) and changing the cypher key pairs at every mainance?
In a way yes. In the crossing the line thread in the General Discussion.
What was the reason behind the changes made to the Warlord's Focus Attack skill? It was originally added in C3 to allow Warlords, as they have no other weapon masteries after 2nd class change, to kill 1 mob at a time with normal classes, and now in C5 it's been changed so that it can only be used half of the time, and is no longer as adaptive as it is in C3/C4. I understand Fell Swoop being limited, since it's a big boost for the Warlord in PvE, however with the changes to Focus Attack, we can only avoid hitting everything in our arc half of the time.
Will there ever be any additional S grade items, especially Dual Swords since there is no SA variation with Duals like there is with other weapons?
The supposed 'nerf' to AoE attacks and polearms in C4 hasn't had the desired effect, as it is easy to find a location where you do not need to worry about the limit of mobs you're having to attack. The new change to mystic classes are a step forward, but are there plans to do something else to make polearm users the best at actually using a polearm, for example reduce attack speed or Patk dramatically if you do not have levels of Polearm Mastery?
Will blessed soulshots be introduced into the game? If not can you please explain why?
Thank you in advance. :)
Does NCsoft study the various bot programs, and keep up with what they can do in order to better recognise patterns of botted characters?
will the subclass skill animations be improved at some time? for example as a human mystic, going tyrant almost all skills look exactly the same.
can the devs plz explain why dark blue mobs still argo players when they run past? IE: an A grader runing from giran to dion.
It would be nice to know why dark blue mobs still have argo to players 15+ lvls abve the mobs. and would solve some training issues.
My top 3:
1) Why do base materials not spoil on mobs L61 and above?
(Animal bone, Iron Ore, Coal etc.)
2)Why are there an overwhelming number of redundant spoils in various grades, and a significant lack of Monsters that spoil Base materials?
( eg. There are 19 monsters that spoil "Recipe: Oriharukan" but only 4 monsters spoil Coal in that same level range.)
Also related, why are many B grade recipes and key materials not spoilable and/or have exceptionally low drop rates, while others are almost impossible to avoid?
(eg. Ring of Black Ore Gemstones spoil from 30 monsters, but the Recipe: Kris only drops from 2 mobs? The 60% recipe drops from only two mobs also. Neither is spoilable. Many other B parts or recipes are the same way.)
3) In Chronicle 3, the way mobs aggroed and switched targets to a players pets changed drastically. Yet the pets pdef and mdef values did not increase to compensate for this additional damage that pets take. Many classes are no longer able to play normally with their pets due to this change. (Mainly the Wolf and Hatchling pets, but also the new Baby pets.) Will the pets stats or equipment be changed in the future to compensate?
Considering that are two Euro servers and PlayNC Home Page is in several languages.
When the client will support these languages? (FR/DE/ES)
just wondering, where and when can I expect the answers for some of these questions. :)
Are there any plans to improve the land rate on Overlord Seals? They are currently very ineffective and if an Overlord uses their MP for anything but ally CP healing then they "aren't doing their job". The Chronicle 5 debuff stat change actually makes them worse off than they were in Chronicle 4.
Don't you think dwarves were purposely designed to be played by masochists and necro by sadist ? if so... which one would you play as a main char till 75 ?
Hello,
Got some more for you.
Why were summoner's servitors PVP damage reduced, when other classes do more damage then our servitors could ever do, example Archers and Mages easly out damage us. Also no other class has ever had this done to them, why summoners?
Do you feel the cost of playing a pure summoner (Warlock, Elemental Summoner, and Phantom Summoner) might be to high, with crystal costs plus beast Soul Shots? Have you had discussions about improving this aspect of the summoner.
That is all
Hello,
Do you have any plans to add to the MENU bar an extra tab with statistical information like:
Needed XP to next level
XP/SP gained and TIME PLAYED during the last 30 days
XP/SP gained and TIME PLAYED during the last 7 days
XP/SP gained and TIME PLAYED since last LOG ON
The data can be also displayed in a simple graphic with the predicted XP/SP and LEVEL reachable if we keep the trend of last 7 or 30 days.
Maybe there is other data that can be included, I think its important to have a kind of character development diary with data and dates.
The main idea is to have a STATISTICAL TAB on the MENU BAR with the main historical data of the corresponding character.
Best regards,
RedBaron of Devianne
Great Idea Baron !
Your brain is not that rotten after all ;)
same question as before, since it didnt get answered last time. using C5 skills and rules of the RPS system, is it more likely for a elven elder (a defensive mage) to kill a spell howler (offensive mage) or for a bounty hunter (warrior) to kill a dark avenger (knight) in a self-buffed typical olympiad fight?
Thank you Mizwisfist... :)
Not to mention how easy it would be to track down botters with the data collected to be displayed on this new STATISTICAL TAB... ;)
Best regards,
RedBaron of Devianne
What expansions or changes to you plan for the Seven Signs system in future to make it more appealing for players to join the Dusk side. What about the missing 4 Seals as only 3/7 are included yet?
What new Boss Mobs will await us in the future? I am especially thinking of Fafurion the Water Dragon which room in the Garden Of Eva is empty for far too long already.
Any plans to make shopping tours more easy and enjoyable? Like adding auction systems or make the findprivatestore feature to search though the actual shop inventory instead of just the name? And the most requested feature to be able to run a shop without having to be ingame personally and run the PC 24/7. Would it be possible to add 'afk-shops' that stay ingame when you log out while having a shop open and sell your goods till they run out of goods?
Are you aware of the current problems of the manor system and have any plans to improve this nice feature of the game in future? Especially to make it easier for players to buy seeds and hand in crops to provide a fair way for the 'good people' to use it?
Is the Region-Tab of the Community Board actually functioning in Korea? Are there any plans to atcivate it on N/A servers to show additional information about the region?
Do you have any plans to implement server vs server PvP or olympiad like competitions. Maybe even international competitions against players of the korean, japanese, etc. servers. Is it technically possible? It could be a lot of fun...
Other games use instances to provide players a unique and adventure like feel for questing and grinding. Have you considers something alike for L2 to give more players a possibility to participate in kind of instances-raids?
We all know Lineage 2 is focusing a lot of grinding and we wouldn't play it if we would not like it more or less but why are so many quests so frustrating by either including a lot of useless running and porting through half of Aden (e.g. Proffession quests), not giving any ingame background (Kill X monsters to receive a chance to get item Y) or not even worth considering as the reward is either far too low (e.g. Sea of Spores quest). You've shown with the Hellman Family Quests in Rune Town that you can provide quests that are kinda fun to solve, challenge the player and give detailed background information for those players who are interested. The reward for this (tho very long quest) in form of XP and items is worth the time also. Will you revisit the questing system to make it more appealing and fun for the player to use? I don't feel like adding more quests not necessarily solves this issue if they are like all the others. And - and this has gotten very important as we have so many quests available - will you increase the maximum number of Quests a character is able to handle to at least 20-25 to make it possible to do the quests you like without having to cancel them all the time. An idea would be the option to increase quest-slots by the fishing system as you did for inventory.
How many people are actually working in the development team to make thousands of players happy by working constantly on the game and listen to all their crying? ;)
Thought of another one:
RE: Manor Fruits.
Certain manor fruits are painfully hard to turn in due to overproduction. e.g. Chilly Codas, the number of fruits that can be harvested is an order of magnitude greater than the amount that all the manor Lords combined can buyback. Thus the backlog of fruits to be sold by players only grows overtime making it harder for each person to turn in fruit due to the greater numbers and quantities all trying to sell back.
Will there ever be a way to 'sell off' the excess fruits without having to take a complete loss by selling them to a NPC shop?
OH... one more.
--Have you ever considered allowing NCNA to develop content and rules geared specificly toward the NA and European Playerbase for L2, much like they did with the "Lands of Aden" Server on Lineage 1?
1. What’s the hardest part of your job?
2. Will we have the chance to have customizable armor to help eliminate the “twin” effect?
3. Is it too soon to get any details on Lineage 3? Will any of you be working on L3? What will the story line and characters be like? Totally different than L2?
4. Will we ever see Shilen? If so, will dark elves benefit from her?
5. Any difference with the NA/KR version of the game and why?
6. How do you change some people’s negative view that the game is nothing more than a tough grind with outstanding visuals? How do you make the game compete with other games to draw more people?
7. I died to Zariche on the PTS but lost no XP, feature or bug? Will it always be a sword only or in the future will adapt to the user that picks it up like changing to a bow, dagger etc?
8. Ever added/changed something in the game and then later go why did we do that?
9. At what point do you say enough is enough with the nerf suggestions? Some people say nerf this character/skill but then still complain later when something is changed. You can’t please everyone so when do you say stop complaining? I personally like the idea of “overpowered” archers, daggers and mages. To me it makes the game fun. Each character was made one way for a reason, archers; daggers and mages are supposed to be DDs, after to many nerfs the game will get bland.
10. Any restrictions on what you can/can’t or will not implement?
11. Does NA suggestions affect what may get implemented or is everything strictly KR based? What does the KR market think of the NA market/play style?
12. Where do some of your ideas come from?
Thanks! :)
what economic boosts are planned for dwarves or have they already been added and we didnt notice
Hi,
I'd like to know what is being done to reduce non legit players. You know who I mean... the ones who "Work" mmorpgs to collect items and currency to sell for RL profit? Everyone knows this is my pet peeve. I've seen it ruin games. It makes playing them not worthwhile. If I'm playing a competitive level based game and the guy next to me is "buying" his way up faster than me, it's not really fair and makes the grind pointless (at least for me). I've played most of the current large mmo's and although I love lineage tons, I find it to be the game with the highest percentage of farmers that I have ever played. In order for me to ever consider playing the game and feeling my work is worthwhile, the automated 6+ packs of people all controlled by 1 person need to stop. I was thinking about it earlier and I figure I could live with a 5-10% farmer rate on a server. Personally I'd like to see it a 0% farmer rate but I'm realistic.
So, the question is: what are you doing-planning on doing to lower the level of these pesky critters that inhabit your game worlds? Anti macro game terrain? where they could get stuck much more easily? Bind on pickup on certain types of materials-items? For some peculiar reason Lineage seems very condusive to farmers. I love the way it's economy works, but there are issues that really make it easy for farmers to grind the game and use up areas legit players could use, to gain real world money....The whole thing ruins games and provokes emotion in players. For your worlds to succeed and have much larger playerbases the ratio of legit to non legit needs to change in my opinion.
Other game companies are putting in measures to slow down and limit farmers what are you guys doing? Will game mechanics ever change to prevent different types of farmers? We all know systems in other games have done it. :)
Regards,
"That Guy"
*asking the hard questions*
I hope these haven't already been asked.
1. You've done a great job in supplying the players with accessories that give a unique appearance so far, will we continue to see unique items that let players express individuality in coming expansions? Players have expressed a desire for helmets, possibly circlet types that look better suited for combat?
2. Has any thought been given to having more unique type raid bosses? Different appearance, colors, behaviors, possibly one raid boss that is exclusive for each client in the various countries your game is represented in?
3. From a visual and technical perspective, what in Lineage 2 are you most proud of creating? Excluding the dragons. :)
Hail to you Dein_Cathair,
I have played UO 6 years (7 accounts and 25 characters 7 x GM in Drachenfels) and I can vouch for you, 7 x GM in Siege Perilous was as hard as reaching Hero in L2!!! And dressing outrageously was really possible in UO with all the neon coloured stuff...ah ah.
If you feel nostalgic about UO have a look at this:
Are we going to see a whole Slew of new Duals come C6? Through A and S grade that give us dualers a choice?
Hail. Thanks for the note and link :). We're gonna get chastised for littering up this thread but I did want to say the outrageous clothing I wore was on the test center. It all started one day the guild I had created and was running was driving me nuts, so I took a vacation to the test center for peace and quiet. lol. So I went to TC and made a char named "Glitterclothes" I wanted to find out about multi-colored clothing I had seen on TC durring the noto-rep patch testing in feb of 98 I think it was. So I made that my chars name to find out what it was all about back then. Well, after awhile of playing there I kinda decided to stay, it was empty and full of peace and quiet. I ran across people occasionally and asked people sometimes if they knew about the weird colored clothing. My first real answer came when I found out it was a bug. lol As time passed one day while standing around brit bank a guy I knew came up and we were talking about this idea I had for the error dyed clothing I had seen long ago and he said he'd take the book and give it to DD to read. I kinda just laughed to myself and went on my merry way screwing around at the bank. About 45 mins later I'm ontop of the bank hanging out and I see this guy come running towards the bank, and he's got this electric blue gnarled staff, and I'm like whoa! who is this? So I run to my teleport spot, tele off the roof and start to come around the front of the bank. As I'm doing this, the guy with the blue staff is going up to the roof *flying up* he runs around and then walks off the roof. He stands there awhile and then plops down a dye tub, nobody does much for a bit until you hear the sound of stuff being dyed and people around the bank and dying stuff. So I joined in also. The guy never said a word, he was the essence of coolness. His name was (PDF Faceless or maybe it was PFD Faceless). In any case as I found out later it was the lead programmer of UO at the time. He was the coolest....
As time progressed on the test center, I began to meet and talk to more and more people. Somehow I got myself involved with this community of RPers who played on the server and as further time progressed I ended up puting down a house in their RP town. The town had it's own npc's and was decorated by gm's using game scenery, my house was next to thea bane's house her house was the bank. As I was accepted into the community, I began going on daily quests and gm run events on the server. It was better than the super rare seers you'd see on the production servers. It was the ultimate in mmo fun. Live quests-events- parts of the storyline almost every day! As part of the community I was given one item that was dyed pure whiteas part of a quest. I picked my sash.
As we all continued to have our fun, I ran into town (the Rp town) one day with my blacksmith charactor and saw this astounding cloak on a guy named either slade or sloan and mentioned to him how unbelievable it was. It was a total rainbow of colors. So the guy just gave it to my smith charactor "IronBlade Dragon". I promptly thanked him, he mentioned how they were going to wipe next week anyways, and I proceeded to transfer the cloak to my char Glitterclothes. On that day, with the cloak, the uber colored wizards hat, the white sash, blue-black and green fancy shirt and pants and uber electric blue hip boots, I became the most outrageously dressed charactor for the next 5 months...! they did not wipe and I never lost or dropped any of my gear. The cloak was later duped in a trade window by an ea person and used for a lead counselors cape :)
I had all that fun, because a guy asked me for my book, he wanted to read it...( ingame). I never found out who he really was, but years later I look back and wonder...He told me he was once a gm, but made it sound like it was only for a very short period of time, like he was just sitting in for fun. He must have been someone tho, to have told me he'd give it to DD to read and next thing ya know there is faceless. The guy did show me his tower once and a mandrake root ontop. The description read "combat action figure". He thought it was pretty humorous. And one night we were testing treasure maps the guy was gonna get mad at dd the next day. So he had to be somebody.... lol
So, I took the name of their RP town and used it (as it was spelled to me by a guy named Ares) and it became my board name when the uo boards came up. Because of all the fun I was provided with on the test center, I tried to give some back and became a regular poster on the old uo forums....A regular poster who prob got 150 red named replys. I generally post ideas and most of their replies dealt with them.
All this because a guy was nice to me, all I did was write an in-game book on a possible virtue system. You never know what can happen if your nice :) Maybe I can pm mistryl the guys name... lol I've been so curious over the past couple years who this guy could have been and in any case thank him for a hobby i had ( posting) that gave me alot of smiles and chuckles. I often reflect on the good ol days in uo. My rl buddies will never forget seeing my dude on TC. I could probably tell a 100 funny stories about that cycle of the test center.
Dein
why weren't there bonuses applied to some of the D grade armor sets when +6 enchanted?
For example Brigadine set with helmet/gaiter/tunic gave you a hp bonus and pdef bonus, if they were +6, they could have added another bonus, why wasn't there one applied?
Two quite important questions.
Why did you make Chronicle 4 replays incompatible with Chronicle 5 client?
Why did you make it so that you can't use the hotbars or macros while the HUD has been hidden (severely limiting the ability to make playermovies and admiring the game)?
Thank you to everyone who provided a question! This thread is now closed.
