It seems that the best weapon type for a Raider/Destroyer is Blunt type, since you can use Fatal Strike and Hammer Crush, but if you use any other weapon type you only get one special.
So is blunt the best choice for this type of char?

The 2 handed Swords are definately much better for PVE simply due to their Crit rate. Special attacks take MP, and the MP use of most skills like Stun and Hammer crush can quickly use all your available MP. Critting however, uses no MP. (Although you can use Vicious Stance to enhance your crits is you want to spend the MP.) The more buffs you get the better the 2H swords become. Also, although Blunts (2H or 1H) have added Accuracy, you can use the Accuracy skill with Swords to make up for their lower Acc. On the other hand, you have no skills to make up for the lower Crit rate of Blunts.
For PvP, it's a little less clear. There going with a blunt is potentially better than going with a 2H sword. It would be much harder for a Evasion class to avoid a Blunt using Destroyer!
(Because all that Accuracy stacks!)
1) Accuracy Buff (If you have it.)
2) Accuracy Toggle
3) 2 handed weapon Acc bonus due to Masteries (If using a 2H blunt)
4) Passive Accuracy bonus due to Blunt weapon type
In C4 Stun attacks (That orcs get) seems to land seldom and break often. So far in testing in C5 it does seem like the stun lands more often and breaks a bit less. So if your looking forward, I think 2H blunts will be much more usable for Destroyers. (And Dwarves!) But I still believe the extra crits of Swords still gives them an edge in most situations.
oh how about spear type weapons? are they any good?
Since you don't get the Acc bonus of regular 2H weapons, and you are limited to one 'active' skill. Polearms are only really good if your actively in Polearm groups. And with the C4 nerfs to polearms in non-pole specific classes (Dwarves/Destroyers/Warlords are the only true pole users) you will find it a bit harder to locate and organize pole groups on a regular basis.
So if you don't have a regular pole group, nor a boxed buffer for the all-to-necessary VR and other buffs to solo small groups, it isn't a good idea to use a polearm as your main weapon. (1/2 HP mobs you can group are a bit spread out level wise, and higher level group mobs usually have at least one stun using mob in the group...)
So it's do-able to use a pole...just not as powerful or efficient without the 'pole group' leveling.
Amplifier already explained it nicely but I'll throw a few cents in.
Accuracy is really not that great of an issue, at least at lower levels. Low accuracy+high crits also benefits a *lot* more from buffs than high accuracy+low crits. Not to mention that accu is pretty much a non-issue if you're fighting monsters below your level, green or light blue.
However blunts are popular for "brute" builds that sacrifice dex for con or str, as -dex will lower their accuracy and crits anyway.
Polearms can be awesome xp, but you really have to work with it to get anything out of it. It's not something you can just equip, go to your normal hunting spot, and aoe away. You have to find the right places to hunt, the right buffs, and the right party members.
Polearming is not usually worth it without Vampiric Rage, which is a Shilien Elder buff which heals you a little bit for every point of damage you do. This means you will be healed a lot while hitting a lot of mobs which can sometimes cancel out the damage you're taking entirely.
At higher levels, no VR=no aoe. Your healer will run out of mp extremely fast and it will be moot trying to earn faster xp with 5 minutes downtime every 10 minutes.
There are some very few cases where aoe without VR works (such as doing half hp mobs with other polearmers, killing them mostly with specials), but I wouldn't base my decision on those.
I wouldn't rule out trying to get a polearm in addition to your main weapon at later levels. It really is awesome xp once you find that ideal spot with some friends who are just the right classes.
