Hit them where it hurts.

I've seen a lot of attempts to fight bots. They usually involve killing them. In general, this isn't really very effective. Many of these bot groups do not care if they lose XP. That's not what they are their for. The reasons they run is mostly purely economic.

So what do you do when they have a room or area you want and won't leave?

Recently a friend and I have found an interesting solution. When we both play our Spellhowlers, we just kill the mob before they can and use Corpse Life Drain on the corpse to prevent the Dwarf from Sweeping anything from the mob.

This hits them where it hurts. They get no adena, no spoils and no drops. Most of the time after a short period of this they leave the room we are in to us.

Now, I understand this is not a solution that will work for every class, but for any class that can kill fast, it works beautifully. You do have to be prepared if they get angry and come back to kill you (but we have this EE in the group who has Party Recall for just such an occasion!).

This works much better than going red on them. Remember...they don't care about XP. They care about adena.
Train them, seed their mobs, spoil before their dwarf does, heal their mobs... tons of ways to cut into their profits. Its a good time when one gets bored with leveling. Just be prepped, some monitored bots will fight back (tho not well :P).
The real beauty of many of these suggestions is that you gain while they lose. You can still get XP, drops, etc. So you win!
I was in the Forgotten Plains range and it's too good to be missed for an archer.
It's unfortunately highly botted.

I've trained a 5 toons bot group 42 times on 1 week. I made a few mils in drops but not as much as I should have since the party members are prefered :-/
They finally decided to stay on the other side of the plain and let me alone.

NonFactorsInc clan had basically done that with the whole ToI on Sieghardt 2 chronicles ago. It had worked too.
I love seeding the mobs I'll take twin codren to martyrs and stand in one of the rooms and they never seem to dislike my seeding of the mob
Agreed. Killing "certain players" is a waste of your time. Training them is good if it works. I've always found, however, that if dealing with a known "certain player type" group, if you kill faster and sweep/corpse drain the mobs, you'll fare better.
True if your objective is to gain the area. If you are using them as better then normal drop rate mobs then its a different strategy.

Anyone notice that they dont drop anything lately? I want to set myself up that way.

Lol Im a glad. I die ALOT! I drop something pretty much every time.

The objective of THIS THREAD was to hit them where it hurts. If you are removing the reward of their time in game (by taking the drops and eliminating their ability to spoil) you are achieving that objective.

I like the windstrike one! :p
How long do you have to do this for, are you finding?
I was bored with leveling once and ran around spider's nest on Lionna for almost 40 minutes--I killed almost every mob before they did. Even took a few shots at them but didn't kill them outright.
It was diverting for me and I'm sure the productivity for that one little brig dwarf is gonna get him in trouble at the annual farmer's guild meeting--but he never left.
When I killed lesser basilisks in front of those players in wastelands they "dissapeared" after just a few times....course I was red at the time so maybe that's why they left.
Just curious--was there a time frame for killing their mobs that seemed to cause them to leave?

I got 1013 lesser heal pots from one yesterday.
I got 500 regular heal pots from one a couple weeks ago :)

Thats a -_-ing good idea. Thanks Sith!
Pack a warlock, and have him summon a binding cubic.
Pack an elemental summoner, and have her summon an aqua cubic.
Go to a lower-level area than the two are.
Now pack some chrono weapons.

Done and done.

PS: If you do not use at least one male summoner, the bots will not break down laughing long enough for you to parapunch them.
Sometimes it takes minutes, sometimes forever. But if I'm getting the XP and the drops, I don't care how long it takes. :)
