We all know by now a new server is coming along with C5.
Still one could ask why it is introduced but unfortunately we weren't told. It could be because of a new players influx. Because of the other ones being saturated or just to keep adding to the sink and keep busy the players in look for 'novelty' (if going through 75 levels one more time can be deemed so) (or to let the adena market grow lol; nvm that one was a joke, really)
I have, many have, many people who left have often told NC that more information was better but someone at NC probably worked for Apple Inc before and think secret is a value. Not in PR nor in CC I assure you. Honesty! Period. Parenthesis closed.
So we are here seeing Franz arrive and I wonder who would reroll there and why.
When Teon was born we were told by NC (Hi Dhevrin, hope you have enjoyed your new jobs) we would be able to transfer our toons some day. That day was not supposed to be far. Not so far. It didn't happen. Leaving many people XPing on their old servers and entrapping them with too many assets to move, too late.
Now Franz is at the door and why would you move then? You probably have more asset and levels than then. And if you need the Time Zone change you needed it also then. So why would you move now?
Franz won't be any better nor worse than Teon is and one would be a fool to believe otherwise.
So what would be the incentive?
For me there's absolutely no way to abandon my 3 63+ toons with all their gear (+4 carnage ;+7 dual sls, maj set and jewels, 6B sets, weapons, loads of recipes of every grade ... and 4 full WHs and inventories totalling about 1 billion adena.
And many of you have subclasses.
What would make you move ? Why ?
Will the influx of new players justify that server and populate it enough to be fun?
Will the few weeks of 'level playing field' be a sufficient incentive?
Will the slight move of ppl actually rerolling have a sufficient impact on the old and full server's load?
Are there really people who love to grind to the point of having cross server 75s ?
Or is it time for NC to actually act on their words and implement server transfers? Is that false promise a false advertising?
Are there so many Euros on the NA servers that allowing xfers would disrupt them?
Wouldn't we have the right to know the real reason(s) why those transfers were put in the closet? Anyone with SQL knowledge is laughing at the 'technical problems' excuse.
Was it just 'planned and budgeted long ago so we proceed tho we don't need it ?'
Is it just because some people asked for it ? And if many people requested a new server did, why did they?
Do you know someone who'll reroll from Teon to Franz lol?
What do _you_ think dear fellow L2ers?
And you NC, how honest and open can you be?
It'd be great if at the end of the day I could sum up all the reasons why NC is bringing Franz, why NC is not bringing transfers and who would reroll and why.

There're two things that could make me leave my toons and stuff behind:
1. My Friends
2. The Challenge
The first point that's the by far more important one, I don't wanna leave my people behind. I did when I played WoW and regretted it, sure there are very nice people around there too, but hey, I liked the ones here more, the pain of lower levels and a year of L2-Noobness can't be compared to a 1-month-full-epic wow "adventure". So if the most important of my friends would say: We'll do it! I'd go with them and have some fun being a naked little thing on the new server. Though I'd miss my characters and all the time and effort I put into each of them, but there are always changes from time to time...
But I guess most of my friends wouldn't leave just for the feeling of being a lowbie again, it'd be all for the challenge to be a factor on the new server, not just be a side-note next to all the age-old chars and power-leveld rerolls. So this is the challenge I made my secod point, kinda hard to accomplish if you are trying to compete with all those, let's call them "full-time-cheaters" out there.
So in the end, there will just be a bunch of mages, archers and daggers, some orcs and very few of anything else, even less then on the server's nowadays...
Well, some sarcasm at this point:
To see that everyone that bends the rules to the extreme gets everything faster than me (XP, Adena, Equipment) and my friends, I don't need to join a new server...
There are a few reasons I would consider re-rolling to a new server:
A) To follow my friends
B) The chance to experience the complete game with others at the same level
C) Having more people around when I'm online
D) A guarantee (which will never happen) that everyone there is the same as me with regard to progress
With point A, many of my friends have put months and years of work into their toons and so it is highly unlikely that they would want to move. I appreciate that I could make many new friends so it would not completely put me off re-rolling
Point B, as I arrived on my current server only eight months ago there were few new players around. It would be great to experince up and coming clans, raids on all the bosses I never got a chance to do and watching other people achieve their new levels at a reasonable rate.
Point C is a big plus for me as I'm in the UK. When I go on line now unless it is weekend there is rarely anyone on who I can party with, raid with and just generally have fun with. Mostly this is because I'm five hours in front of the majority. If I want to be involved in any major happenings (seiges etc) I have to get up at three in the morning to do it.
Point D is the unmentionables which sadly we all know will happen. Within a couple of weeks of the server opening there will be 52+ characters in top grade gear dominating the RB's and good xping areas. It is a sad fact that this will happen. I'm not flaming, pointing any fingers or any other nasty negative thing, I'm only stating what will occur.
Well, I will not be re-rolling to any new server. The simple reason being is that I have put so much work into my toons that I'm not prepared to move to another even if it means there will be more people of the European persuasion there.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to move to Franz (Ferdinand) server but only if I can move my toons there.
I would love the meeting new people bit and establishing new Clans especially with C5 on the way but as I'm about to hit lvl 70 in the next week or so there won't be a cat in hells chance.
I keep coming back to the same point. Come on NCSoft, do a little work and do a one time, one way toon transfer and make some people happy and maybe you will be on some peoples Christmass card list :eek:

If I were to reroll to Franz, then only for the fun of being with a server from its starting stages - I'd like to see it play out properly, and I think it would be easier to find a good clan in the starting stages. I'm especially interested in the economic development - because it will only be good, no matter what happens - and trying to get rich early on; I'm not much of a Levels person after all.
I have the hidden hope (although it might go the other way around) that cheaters are too worried about their real life investments coming to fruitition on the server they made them at to abandon them - I don't understand ebayers, but to some point I can't see them leaving their characters/money behind - of course it might go the completely different way around, and probably both things will happen at the same time.
My keep-back would be all the friends and people who don't want to reroll with me. If I could take a clan of those I adore most with me, I'd be prancing around Franz in seconds.
It's quite understandable that small comments are to be made here and then but please refrain as much as you can.

I'm definitely going to give Franz a try. I might stay, who knows. I'm still undecided.
Leaving behind a 76+ with subclass is the least of my worries. It's not all about getting to end game as fast as you can. What I enjoy most, is the building up part. -And I have never been on a fresh new server before, so this is something I want to try too :)
But I am concerned about how dominating the farmers will be, not to mention those who aren't willing to put in the work themselves, and thus use out of game means to obtain what they want. Hopefully that will be apparent enough, on such a new server, that the offenders will recieve a swift whack with teh ban hammer. -One can only hope... :confused: :eek:
because nothing happens on erica. With the top 2 alliances having 50 active people and any other alliances barely having a grade mastery, this server is pretty dead. Sieges are non-events, and pvp is relegated to 9vs1 solo xping ganks.
and raid boss farmers get everything including AQ and baium.
hate to leave my toon behind though tbh. not gonna happen lol.
could be fun going thru all stages of a new server that u couldnt participate in be4...the first siege...the first antaras raid..the first clans...etc tec...Im definatly gonna start a char on Franz, even if i dun reroll i wanna see the progress on that server.
And...it can be really fun to see how everyone is noob lol.

Having read all the above topics i have to say that many ppl will log into Franz. Friends, new challenge, sure everything counts. But i think the most important reason is time zone. I believe that all european players will gladly join new server - I will, leaving 2 60+ in gustin and 2 35+ in deviane. I am sick of having to stay up until 4 am :mad: to take part in a siege or buy some seeds etc. . Teon is full loaded most of the times - that s the reason i believe that NCsoft made the decision to set up a 2nd euro server. :)
I'm pretty impressed to see the quality of the responses gotten so far.
The point of views are interesting and heading in the same overall direction.
But still this thread is young and could grow up a bit.
Our most vocal companions didn't express themselves yet and a major contributor could reply too : NC.
My first post on the Lineage II Boards. Wow... this feels weird, considering I've always looked at the boards countless times but never actually had the courage to write something (or maybe I'm just plain lazy ). So here you go everyone, a new writing member in the Lineage II Community Boards, saying hello to everyone.
I'd like to express the sudden lightbulb that the creation of a new server has inspired on me. This will be the perfect opportunity, not only for me, but for other players as well that want to experience all there is in this fantastic game fresh from the start. I remember joining this game around mid Chronicle 3 (I know... I'm still NOT a veteran) and just bein amazed at all there is to experience here ... the good, the bad, the pretty, the ugly... in summary... a cornucopia of emotions.
In the past month or so, I decided to return to the world of Aden to experience some of that "online profoundness" (<- is that even a word? ) again. I even rerolled a new character on my favorite server of Lionna. But then... I see the news of a new server starting up. I got a jolt of happiness when I read that. Now it will be a great chance to experience all the emotions that surround a whole community starting from scratch and (as the fellow poster Kez wrote) "I am also interested in the early lvling race and clan drama that exists in the sub 60 levels". Just imagine... stepping into Franz and no one owning a castle... no camped mobs/bosses of any kind... no actual "gamer" economy yet (you all know what I'm talking about here ), etc.
Though I don't think that this server will have the sheer intrigue that is the Lionna server (hehe... loved every single minute of your posts/raids/in game shouts/etc guys, you really where the reason I decided to return to Aden in the first place ) or the pseudo one that exists Teon (was there for awhile too but that was way too long ago), I believe we should all give Franz a chance and see how the server shapes up.

My reason to reroll on Franz:
I have toons on basically all servers so I guess I am to make some on Franz. But that's the only reason tho.
My reasons not rerolling to Franz:
1) starting again at lowbie
2) seeing first hand how this server gets derailed once more (really I believe this will happen).
3) leaving friends on the old servers.
I am extremely tempted to drop my chars on Lionna and move over to Franz.
I live in England, times are right for me, and also I have only played L2 for 4 months so I dont lose much. I really want to experience L2 as it was originally intended, ie. not getting c armor until youre like lvl 49 :P
