Has target jumpback been fixed then?

You know how when one mob dies, you target another and quickly press attack, you start ******* the corpse instead of running to your intended target ... I wonder, has this been fixed or will people be playing with a taped down attack key so as to avoid hitting tanks?
hmmm.... not now I think... but to me it seems to be related to how laggy the server is.
Yes i notice this alot when i click a target and try to heal too fast or cast a buff before the game has "locked onto" what i clicked. I think it's to do with the ping time - the smaller the ping, the smaller the time it takes for you to lock on to a new target.
I can see it now: "Don't bother hating her, she's lagged!"
Ive never had this particular problem. But im curious about a some what similar one. When Im in a pvp is when I get the worst lag. When im chasing another player and have targeted then. As soon as I get close enough to attack if I use a special skill I will lag back somehow about 20 feet(scale estimate) and then im out of attacking range. If im fighting a fast class than its over with at that point. Anyone else have issues like this?
I'm still seeing this, I'm still too slow on the C5 PTS to really notice it but on C4 with my SPS I hump dead targets a lot, it's really disturbing and dangerous with sleep being nerfed and all
I've never had it happen with a skill - interesting observation though!
For me its only a skill used in pvp. Not pve. Could be just my hardware. As for "*******" mobs Ive never had that happen.
What I've noticed on C5 is even more dangerous though. Here's an example.

Two mobs are standing within aggro range. I target Mob1 and sleep it, aggroing the other, I target Mob2, he's clearly targeted, I nuke.

But OOPS, the nuke hits Mob1 even though Mob2 has the "red balls" on him so I've woken up the slept mob and didn't nuke the second as planned. Nasty. I'll try to get a fraps of it sometime.
**** that sounds pretty bad. C5 scares me :(
Wow, that blows. :/

It's never happened to me with skills before - and I guess that answers the original question, too; it's worse, not better.
Eh well it's pretty rare, it doesn't happen all the time.
heres my theory on it:

Targeting is server side (just try targeting something after you have gotten disconnected or something) so if you target something and then immedeately hitting an attack skill the server hasnt registered you having targeted a new target, and it "resets" your target, reverting it back to your old one.

Working by this theory i always wait a tad before i start attacking after i assist someone, and i never have problem with ******* mobs. I DO however get the hump problem if i start spamming attacks or spells instantly after assisting/targeting something new
As a spellsinger on live and shortly had an elven wizard on pts, the speed might be what causes my prob
I have never had this problem thank god. I think my wife would freek if she came in and saw my toon ******* a corpse.
frankly i don't understand how the server works in the first place with server side targeting.. .and the attacking is also server side,

If you target, and then AFTER hit attack, the server should do it in order, but it doesn't.. why? i haven't a clue. It doesn't make any sense.
I still have this problem. Really annoying.

I also have the same problem as Nos. I haven't noticed whether it happens when I use a skill or a regular attack. This should be very high priority on the fix-it-list.

that happens on main when you have lag
relay have to make sure you lock on before doing anything

Maybe the order the packets arrive in at the server. You have mob x targetted. You click on something, and the client sends a "target mob y" message to the server. Then you click a skill, and the client sends a "use skill on target" message to the server. When you have bad lag (e.g. your ISP has trouble), it could be that one message (packet) arrives at the server before the other one, or that one simply gets dropped somewhere. So it could be that your CLIENT shows mob y targetted, because you clicked on that mob and the client sent the message to the server, but instead the "attack target" message arrives at the server first, and the server still thinks you have mob x targetted. Then the server sends back a message "show the player attacking mob x" to the client, and you can see what is REALLY going on instead of what you wanted.
And how would I do that? The mob was clearly targeted and "locked on" my screen.

I suppose one could blame my ISP but when everyone complains of lag I an generally completely uneffected so who knows.
The thing is that for your client to display a target, you need the server to send you a message - because otherwisely, you would be able to target while disconnected.

Also note that target jumpback with regular attacks is very easily reproducable, even at pings of only like 140 or 150.
