It's really nothing new either. The very first DJ on the very first night was botting his DJ time. However, I guess when you don't have enough good DJs and you got one guy (Hippie) trying to cover the overnight 12 hour shift, you have to expect some long periods without DJ interaction.
But like I said last night on IRC, some DJs seriously need to overenchant their playlist cause they are kind of ordinary and repetitive. People also lose interest when there is no way to get a request played. You guys need to get some DJs from varying time zones.
I am in the process of interviewing about 25 more people plus 6 that have to be trained....
So im filling the slots as fast as i can....
I can't just take a person and throw them on air. It doesn't work like that. As for dynamic playlists by the djs, I'm working on encouraging them to spread thier wings so to say. But i can only work so fast since i do alot of other things other than just Manage the station including working on promos to get on air for the station and RL stuff ^_^
Well one of the problems you will have is some of us who may be experienced in radio.. just don't have the time to volunteer to help out. Heck.. I have been having a hard time just finding the time to play the game,.. which is my release from reality. DJ'ing would be like going back to work on my free time, which is very, very limited. Which is also why I have not offered up any of my time by "applying".
If I was to volunteer.. I would definatly not play any Hard Rock.. there seems to be too much of that currently being played. And quite often the same tunes as well. Though I did hear one country song last I listened (blech).. but at least it was something different. I would likely put on something like "Yello", or "Crystal Method" to break up the "hard rock" grind. You know the kind of music that makes one tap there feet.. and wiggle in there chair while they play the game.. <grins>
Anyway.. ^ Just a few random thoughts on the subject..
<laughs> Yo.. dark.. my DJ experience is from 20 years ago, not where I am currently. So yeah, yeah.. showing my age a bit. Not making any claims to fame though mind you.. just stating that some of us my have too many real life responiblitys to spend more volintary time than we allready do. Not everyone has your kind of free time <grins>

Kainmotion is a Zerg clan. You won't see them unless there is a Zerg soon. Now I have already told all Kainmotion Orcs the Horde would be dormant a bit (since C5 PTS started).
I also warned to get to 20, and most of the Horde did it in silence. So yes, we are still there... Then later on we come out of the closet and ZZZZEEEEERRRRRRGGGG !
It's an event type of char/clan. So if there is no event, nobody is going to play this char as a main...
Between my RL friends, my Internet friends, work, Kainmotion, Trolling the boards and harrassing L2 radio, I don't have that much time to play the game these days...
k, what about volunteers from other time zones? Im british living in the Middle East. I have a voice like honey melting on warm toast. Extensive music collection. Id be tempted to apply, but that would surely cut into my grind time ^^
I went into withdrawl when I was on my two week holiday, got back to find my password had been reset, total of 3 weeks with no l2 and I was certifiable. Imagine, talking to all those listeners (creative license there :) ) whilst all the time thinking, my poor little BH/SE/SH stuck in a hell of never levelling!
Plus, once those listeners who dont approve of your choice of music find out who you really are......uh oh, massive PK target on your back! lol
I for one do not have a major problem with automated playlist once in awhile, sometimes its good to just have a random playlist of assorted songs just play continously with no interuptions especially at night.
Oh.. by the way Shonen.. nice show this morning. Loved the Adam Sandler and other comedy tidbits. Made it a real "show".. and not just random speed metal. Nice work on the musical selection too.. good variety.
I think everyone should cut all the DJ's some slack. I agree some are better than others and a few mistakes have been made but L2Radio has only been up for a week or so. Just like the game itself, it takes time to get bugs worked out. I have noticed several DJ's changing up their playlist and style due to feedback. Most are trying best to do request, but seeing as how L2Radio does not actually supply the tunes the DJ's are limited to what they already have and getting new music by the hard pushed rules is simply very costly. Going and buying 20 new CD's just to fill 20 diff request from night before is a year and 1/2 worth of game subscription. Shonen has right idea about trying to add more DJ's. That would not only give better music selection but also take a load off the current DJ's which will burn out soon at the rate they are being pushed. As for as automated playlist, its really only possible way right now with limited number of DJ's. Good example is DJ Hippie. He wasnt even sposed to be on air last night but due to circumstances he is now going on 13th hour. He would have lost his real job today without an automated playlist. During his scheduled air time nobody can deny that he is very active, from playing request to bringing out the best in gameplayers. 13 hours of music with no repeats, very respectable. So in final, everyone just try to remember, the DJ's are doing the best they can, time will fix most probs.

Lol, I am a long time player but even longer time lover of good music and take pride in helping whenever possible. My amount of help is limited, but I respect any and all(such as HippieGhost) who actually has power to do great deeds and does not misuse that power. Not sure about all the Honey bit... but know for a fact all Hippieghost giveaways come from the REAL players of L2, those willing to dip into their inventory to donate from bones to SA'd weapons. Remember... if you downgrade HippieGhost for giving stuff to newbies, you are also downgrading dozens of higher level players that helped make it happen. I not only made many donations myself but also helped organize donations to Hip... that is who I am to be in your thread :)
