I've had it with this economy system

Of course, there's our automated friends, but don't worry it's not the object of my post, it has already been debated a lot and it's never gonna change, let's just pray that Lineage III will be better thought out from the beginning (better quest rewards and less money-sink would be a good start...).
Anyway, i've learned to live with that, but what really annoys me the most is the absolutely impossible way to find what you're looking for when it doesn't sell in NPC shops !
Like right now, i'd like to have a Rind Leather armor, i've spend more than an hour looking everywhere and shouting in every city but all i found was the Rind Gaiters !
For the love of God, i'm not asking about an auction house, but at least give us a way to know where the stuff we're looking for is located ! A vendor NPC, i don't know, anything ! And i've tried the "Marketplace" section of the forum boards before, but without much success...
I like the "hard" side of Lineage II, i don't mind spending some time searching for something i really want, comparing prices and everything, but this is ridiculous, i don't even know where i could go to find this Rind Leather armor !
And maybe someone is willing to sell one but will never know that i'm searching for one !
The "/findprivatestore" command is laughable, the shops sitting all the way in Giran are a joke, it would be a good idea if C6 could bring some more organized economy instead of this whole mess...

/findprivatestore fixed in C5, your prayers have been answered.

Rind Leather is simply rare, as it is hardly ever crafted and usually crushed for Crys C when found as a drop.
But Rind is very ****.
people level too fast in Lineage 2 - either that or items/parts do not drop enough. Buy the time a group of 10-15 friends past through the levels that a certain item drops they wont have enough to make even 1 item such as Rind Leather Armor. Currently the only way to make a complete set is to delevel because or find 100 players that dedicate themselves to hunting the same mob for the same drop/part and then to show for it only have 1 piece of one part of an armor?
Key mat drop rates in C Grade are low, but it's a lot better in B Grade IMHO, same with A, in regards to hunting for your own things.

I guess the non-store C Grade items are supposed to be luxury.
Hunt the Satyrs in Enchanted Valley for rind leather parts.
Politely ask a hero on the server to do a global shout for Rind Leather. Do that a couple times a day and you might find some.

Hunt the Satyrs in Enchanted Valley for rind leather parts.

If you want to hunt for it, it's probably better to bring a spoiler.

Parts
Main: Spoil off Theeder Mages (Garden of Eva water pit and innermost ring).
Gloves: Spoil off Satyrs (lower enchanted valley)
Boots: Drops off Dicors, which also spoil Karmian gloves fabs (very profitable).

Recipes
Armor: Spoils off Timak Orc Troup Leader (do not go alone!) near Apostate
Boots: Spoils off Formor Elder (north of the ivory tower)
Gloves: Enchanted Gargoyle (Ivory Tower Pit)

It's probably advisable to start the whole run with gathering the boot materials (or I would).

saw one selling one in huntervillage last night  to bad i dident know you whanted it
I find it a bit of a challenge to put together the really rare items. I was crafting assault boots, and plate boots for a wild profit on my dwarf some months back. I was also hunting mithril ring wire to craft that, plate helms, plate shields, brig boots, etc. I also made the friends of a few dwarves just looking for the recs, most were happy to either add the rare receipe or had it already.

But just shouting, yeah probably not going to work. Most people NPC stuff like that fast.
Woaw, thanx for all the nice answers guys & girls ! :D

Excellent ! Do you know how it has been fixed ? Can we can search what the people are selling and not only their sell message or something ?

But Rind is very ****.

He he, that's exactly why i'd like to have it, although i'm a Shillien Knight and supposed to wear Heavy armor, but i'm fed up with my Composite Armor and i care more about the looks than the stats ! :p

Yes, but the drop rates are almost as ridiculous as the quest rewards in L2 ! :p

That's a good idea, i'll try it and see if something comes out of it !

Yes.

And seriously, try going with a BH - apart from the boots, everything should be doable on a long afternoon. :)

(better quest rewards and less money-sink would be a good start...).

The mayor problem in L2 is just thats thers just NOT enought money sink, peopels build up insane amonth of cash and sit on it, what hapens then? Of corse items grow in price becsoe peopels have the insane amonth of cash.

Thers more problem then just that ofcorse, the bigest mayor problem ingame is the amonth of mats, yes thers NOT enought mats at all, to fix L2 the thing who truly need to be done is the make more money sink, and make sure mats drops a HELL a lot more then it does now.

yes thers NOT enought mats at all

True. Spoils need to be improved so you can actually spoil enough to dress your party up and put some pointy sticks in their hands before all the stuff you have goes out of fashion again.
A friend of mine actually wanted the Rind Leather set for one of his alts as well. I don't remember if he actually managed to get it, but he really went through hell trying to find it. He had us all going through our warehouses to see if we had any parts, but no. This is definitely a hard set to get.

The problem isnt the economy, it's that you're looking for some armor that people only keep for as long as it takes to get it crushed. More than likely if you could magically ask every person on the server, you still wouldn't have a set.
I'll restate again: ask a hero to do global shout for the Armor -AND- the parts. That will be WAY quicker than trying to gather the materials yourself. Someone has them. I know I have some of them, but I'm not on your server.
I belive my friend managed to get that set for her toons..
So do not loose hope =)

I've been playing 5 months and I have a 59, 53, 26, 25, 20, and 7...... I think I play this game too much :p
I think i got one or two parts stuffed away on an alt that you could use for a buyshop - and i also have the recipe if you need to craft it.

there must be someone on your server that feels sorry enough for you to boom you to 52...
I don't think he needs to be felt sorry for.

Not everyone plays the game the same way. :p I'm a lot happier since I stopped trying to become high level.

Sorry, one of the reasons this economy does not work is because players such as myself will NOT setup shop to sell what you need. I get those RINDLEATHER stuff all day long but I sell it to the NPC for quick cash instead of waiting to RIPOFF other players with inflated prices.

I would imagine anything in this game that is not wanted by most of the players gets sold to the NPC. I cant find the recipe for Avadon BP because its a HIGH DROP rate and the farmers have moved on to other areas. But I get the pieces ALL DAY long but cant make the BP because noone has the recipe.

Yea NCsoft really planned this all out well.

You say that like you're doing the world a favour. Just sell it barely above or at NPC price to another player if you want to do anyone a favour.

I am not doing the world a favor. I wont waste my time from grinding this horrible grind to sell to other players. My attitude went downhill due to the grind and the lack of drops. Forget me helping another player get his resources from me. Let them eat cake or get their own resources themselves.
Set up a buy shop with those rare pieces in a town near where they drop/spoil too. I sell to a player shop before NPC if I see one looking for it.
Grazzt,

One of the things I do is run clan contests. If I'm looking for a particular item, I mention it in my clan's forums. I make it a challenge for them to help me get what I need.

So far, it has not failed.

You get active clan members, they get an active clan, and I even reward the winner(s).

And seriously, try going with a BH - apart from the boots, everything should be doable on a long afternoon. :)

Well,yes, if only i knew a BH !
We have one in the Shillien Empire, but he's still on holidays

This is definitely a hard set to get.

Yes it is, but i'm really fed up with people all looking exactly the same, in my level/class range i feel like i'm surrounded with the same person wearing Full Plate over and over again !
But you're right, it's really hard to get, so now all i'm trying to find is the upper Armor, i've given up on the whole set :(

I'll restate again: ask a hero to do global shout for the Armor -AND- the parts.

Yes i will, as soon as i'm off the boards and into the game ! :p

Hey that's an excellent idea !
That will also make the Clan restart after these long holidays !

Anyway, if after all that i still don't find my Rind Leather upper armor, i'll... well, by that time i'll be using B-Grade so i guess i'll be looking for some even-harder-to-get armor :p
As a fellow player that has just returned to the world of Aden after a few months absence... I can relate to in-game economy woes that have caught me by surprise when I came back (relating to both finding specific items I require and/or pricing). With that said... even though you people already know this, I guess I'll throw in a little Lineage II in-forum advertisement made by myself :)

*start self-made commercial*

In September 6 the new european time based server Franz will be opened. This will mean a fresh community, concerning both economy and experience level among many other aspects.

Are you currently unsatisfied with the current state of affairs in your present server?, then come join us on Franz :).

Be one of the first to fully experience all that this game has to offer in terms of early level content. Relive (or experience for the first time) starter towns full of people, and in the process meet people that can become long-term friends in game and contribute to the fulfillment of mutual goals :). Don't delay! Come join the Franz community today!

Franz is anxiously awaiting you...
How will YOU shape this server?

*end commercial*

Bear with me people : ) . I'm excited about this new server and am just spreading my joy across the forums (and trying to convince people to make Franz their new home). And last but not least, remain optimistic in all of this. Focus on all the nice experiences you will get from starting anew with many other people. :)
well I'm really starting to get annoyed with L2's drop table.

I was out soloing one of the new spot in C5. frozen lyb.

keep in mind this is 55-62 zone.

while there killing mobs that are white and green @ 56/57. I got a ton of top C drops. IE: FP boots, glove, helmet, drake glove mats, and so on.

But the point of that is It's 55+..why in the world are we still getting C grade mats at 55+, by the time you hit 52 you should be geting mats for B grade.

The problem With L2 is that it doesn't set you up for your next grade with the drops, but gives you the grade below by the time you've out grown your own grade your starting to get the low end of your grades mats.

when I'm lvl 46 I sould be geting B grade mat drops and spoils. I should be getting set up for B before I'm even close to it. same for A and S.

They need to but into lux shop all C grade and below. and up the mobs that drop B grade to S.

And if they made drops and spoils 10X like how it is on PTS then players can actually flood the market and remove the bots that plauge the game. With mats being so low they are needed just for the econimy to even get half of what is has now.

The mannor is a joke!
The whole idea behind the spoil tables is that the first generation of players to hit new content is supposed to have it rougher so the slower/more casual players have an easier time catching up.

This is a good concept, but it doesn't work out when there aren't enough mats for higher-level players to sell them on to lower ones.
Stubborn as i am, i did some research and found out that "Retreat Spider Cletu" was dropping Rind Leather Armor at a 6% probability, which isnt that bad !
Now, the question is, who is "Retreat Spider Cletu" ?
I'm guessing he/she is a raid Boss or something ?
So how do i take him/her down ? :p
Gather a bunch of friends, then go beat on him until he gives it up.

It looks like he's up near HV or so.
With that name, it doesn't sound like he's very tough :p
Looks like he's close to HV east exit, and he's level 42.

lol
if its name was 'cuddly kitten me wuv yew' it would prolly have the same chgance to rip you a new one
good thing most raids that lvl are easy
LOL those tricksters
"C'mon Kimune, they're just cats. Let's punch them!"

Fateful last words of an Elemental Summoner.
I got the whole rind leather set for my SE; he looks so **** in it. SOMETIMES you will find someone selling rind leather top/bottom but it is very rare. I've had the gloves for ages; boots were hardest to find. But since Rind Leather is a fashion set and not a bonused set, you'll find that more people will just NPC the parts as useless shop food.

Dwarven Chainmail is another such fashion set (C grade heavy armor) that I'm currently trying to assemble. I have the top and bottom; need the gloves and boots. Sometimes you might get lucky and find these pretty armors at less than crystal price (I got dwarven chainmail for less than market crystal price).

As a fellow fashion victim, don't give up hope!

The whole idea behind the spoil tables is that the first generation of players to hit new content is supposed to have it rougher so the slower/more casual players have an easier time catching up.

I don't think it's the idea.

I see it more as a skill/armor mastery.
You're not supposed to be in top B at 52.
Devs naively believed we'd grind our way through the sets to be in top C at that moment.
Then we begin to get grouped and get B mats... to have our B sets finished way later lol... about when we get A grade mastery.

Devs are pretty stupid.
What do you all think about this idea:

Make any item that is sold to an NPC-shop available for buying from that NPC-shop.
Additionally have the Castleowner set the tax that is put onto the item being resold.
That way items wouldn't be lost to the community and the ingame tax would be more realistic.
Man, if it was like that now, I so should have been there when my old clannie NPC'd his dark crystal boots! :D
It's a nice idea, by the way.

i suggested this way back in the day when i was making dss
basically alot of noobs were npcing their low d drops and i was getting ****** :P
This would be sexey. But it's not happening.

:(

shame its win win really
unlike a auction system i could really get behind this

This would be sexey. But it's not happening.

win win ? my 923.

It takes a real noob to seel an item to a npc.
Even when Giran was unclaimed the market was above npc prices.
Who would win at selling to shops exactly ?
And what you mean would only result on scamming the poor noobs twice.

1 : they get underpaid for their stuff.
2 : someone else then gets a profit from their noobiness
Think of mats.
There are mats that are unsellable or sellable at so less above NPC that it doesn't make sense to pay 30a to put 3 of them in your WH after a hunt, then take all out again to teleport to Giran for some thousand adena to sell 3/4 of them to a buyshop.
Yes, I know you could set up a sellshop, but some ppl (quite a lot actually) don't have flatrates at ISP or a spare computer to run l2 all day. They sell to shop even in higher levels, since you need your WH-slots for things of higher value.
So there would be mats available for buying, especially those, that are not needed for everything like CBP.
It would only really be scamming, if you explicitly told them "Oh, you know. nobody really needs those brig helm designs, just NPC them" and then buy them right back after they'd sold them. Otherwise they're only scamming themselves. And they probably would have sold their junk (but gold to others) to NPC anyway, so why not give us the option to buy back from NPC, so that those who are interested, can craft some of the items that are rare now, because mostly everyone only care about set bonuses?

Wouldn't be that hard. EQ did that, as far as I recall. Occasionaly, you had to go "mining" a bit to bring the good stuff out if you knew they had it. Used to check the merchants, just to see what was sold. Spider silks for crafting? By the dozens. Ghoulbane? I feel sorry for whoever NPCd this one. BUY!

The mayor problem in L2 is just thats thers just NOT enought money sink, peopels build up insane amonth of cash and sit on it, what hapens then? Of corse items grow in price becsoe peopels have the insane amonth of cash.

Not quite, it is a huge money sink. Those insane amounts of cash are usually provided by a Visa. The only way for a normal player to build up a nice amount of cash is to buy and sell items, playing the market game. Full items hardly ever drop, and adena split up across 9 members of a party does little to help normal players, making purchasing SS and equipping for their particular grade a difficult task. There are plenty of ways for normal players to make a fair amount of money, but it could takes months of playing the market to get 400-500mil for their sets, constantly sitting in town (thanks to no auction house) and all the while losing precious time that could be spent gaining exp. Not a money pit? I don't think so.
