flame salamander in ruins of despair

I saw a flame salamander right in the middle of the ruins of despair, I thought it was a mob but I could talk to it, it said for me to leave it alone unless I have anything to say.
I clicked on 'quest' and it said it doesn't have any tasks for me right now; what does it do????? :p

I know you need to talk to it for a part of the human wizard quest, and for one of the level 40 nuker quest parts.

It's just a Quest NPC. It's used for various quests. (One of which Champa noted.)

Other than that, it doesn nothing. Just sits there waiting for the next person to come talk to it.

It is part of the level 39 Test of magus class change quest (sorceror, spellhowlers, spellsinger). It is also part of the level 19 human wizzie quest.

There is also an water undine, an earthsnake and an air sylph that are needed for these quests.
