Just started playing l2 in gustin.. I have an adena problem to get my gear(like every1 else i guess..) so i thought about farming the hunting of the black lion quest as much as possible i can.. Is it worth spending time on doing it? Is there a reward cap for deliverining boxes? Ty in advance
:/ I was going to do statistics on that quest to see what would on average be most rewarding (I have some 4000 boxes in my warehouse), but I've kept putting it on the backburner with all the other things going on.
Darn. Generally in the long run I would say if you have the money it pays off to have them opened if you have alot of them.

Max reward from the Freight guy is 300a each. (Low.)
From the shifty guy by the well, he charges 600a to open em and rewards tend to average -3k to +6K after you sell the junk you get to a NPC with a possibility of more, BUT it does get you Statue/Tablet parts. For every complete set of 4 parts you can have the Blacksmith in Giran assemble a full item. (50% success rate) This tablet can be sold for 10K or taken to the Dark Elf/Dwarf starter town and turned in for 30K each. (Thankfully the parts now stack!)
Unless your going for broke and gathering/assembling a ton of those statues/tablets it's better to just be a nice guy and turn the boxes in to the Freight guy for ~3k to 6K every 100 quest items. (You need 100 to get max Lion Talons, more doesn't get you anything extra.)
Oh, and the added bonus you get the more Eye's you have is fairly nice too. (Shots, heal pots, SOE's)
Thus, if you turn in 33 at a time, it takes 66 to make two talons - you've wasted 16 (as far as claws and eyes go, you still get the adena). If you turn in 100, you could have done the same by turning in 50, then 33, so you've wasted 17 items. Always turn in 50. No more, no less. Unless you have reason to stay there, I mean don't be a slave to the system, it's not -that- important.
Still, I think the rate of return should be bumped up a little bit for this one. But it's not bad, considering the areas are good grinding grounds, anyways. Except Cuma Marsh... too much **** Thought Horror aggro. -_- Not difficult, but a nuisance.
When was that changed ? It used to be 20+ for 1, 50+ for 2, 100+ for 3 talons. So your best ratio would have been to go back to town every 20 items. If you did not want to go back so often, you would only port home at 50 or 100.

It's a great money quest for that level.
And you have a follow up later on with your badge needed for another quest.

If you just rush through the 30-40 levels its not bad either...gathering the full statues/tablets and assembling them, then turning them in is a *hassle* if your not going to turn in a lot of them. It's simpler and easier to just take the 6k per turn in than weather the potential loss until you can turn in the items.
