i played L2 for about 3 months when it was first released, but that was so long ago ive pretty much forgotten anything i learned back then
basically i just have 1 question right now
im making a gladiator and i notice that they have heavy and light armor masteries, which should i use when the time comes? or which should i use before i even get to that point?
on a side note, should i stick to using a 2 hander until i get to level 40 and get dual mastery, or would it make a big difference if i went with duals as soon as i could?
hmm... the glad I party with uses heavy armour & always has, because he plays the tank most of the time & is taking most of the hits. He also uses duals because of the masteries, but I don't know what weapon he used before he got that skill. I would go duals if you can afford it, it really depends on the money you have to get this stuff.
I think i used a blunt up until 40...Pretty sure it was a tarbar. Then for cheap C grade duals i went SoR*SoR and +4'ed them for the health bonus.
D Grade duals are pretty much worthless.
As for armor, i swear by heavy, but i can see where Light Armor has its appeal, especially when you have the option of Dark Crystal Light for an A grade set. Has some pretty good bonus's. Depends on how you plan on playing though.

tallum light has a pretty sweet bonus

Heavy armor before lvl 40 for sure! Use one handed blunts and a shield if you wish. The blunt is best before duals. You can technically go light armor with a dual handed sword too, but I would still recommend blunt and heavy with optional shield.
After 40 Definately get duals. Dual Raids will work just fine and they look kickass tbh. Full plate is usually what ppl go with, but get what you can afford.
B grade get b grade duals, and I will not really tell you the armor of choice since ppl swear by all kinds. My friend used blue wolf but I am not gonna say that was the best. Duals I would go dual SLS though.
For A grade there is NO OTHER CHOICE that compaires to dual Kesh and Tallum heavy. Best for a gladiator. Which is nice cause tallum is usually cheap.
Now for S grade the armor might switch up. I know some like using Drac light...but many still say Tallum is the best.
Basically the def that you get is better than the evasion bonus from wearing light armor. If a gladiator actually got a running bonus of like +8 Run Speed then I would say go light, but they don't...so go heavy.
Gladiators are pretty flexable...soo...you can try out a lot of different things. But I would definately hold off on duals till C grade.
