In an attempt to foster more community from your station. I'm curious... Are you planning on having weekly radio shows by players? And no.. I'm not looking to be a radio personality. lol I just remember how much fun it was to listen to a weekly show last century put on by a couple guys who played a certain mmorpg. I'd guess the show lasted about half an hour, although it did vary. They'd talk about the game, weekly news, interviews, and just funny stuff in general. If I recall correctly the one guys name on the show was Adrick. I think they ended up recruiting him if I'm not mistaken. You could probably get a few shows going if the community is up to it.
Anyways, just a thought....
P.S. Another thought that pops into my mind is that in my last guild and last game I played, we'd have DJ's on our vent server. Once in awhile..... durring raids, they'd play theme music and movie soundtracks durring raids, it turned out to be pretty cool, a lot of people enjoyed that alternative to "regular music" durring raids. Just a thought...
I'm working on a few things:
1) Getting more DJs
2) Getting more DJs
3) establishing set times and SHOWS for the DJs that are on air
4) SET content, with new things coming out all the time.
I don't mind throwing it around, but it would have to be previewed and edited I'm sure but other than that it sounds like an OK idea to me. There would be a few rules, no clan bashing, no talking about those special third party programs other than calling them bots, not be a straight up NCSoft bashing fest where you arent providing anything constructive and are just being a jerk with a vendetta and most of all, it would have to entertain me :P
And im a tough guy to entertain ;) j/k.
It's definitely something i can take into consideration. :)
Since you are here shonen, quick question. Is there a possibilty that you would divide L2 radio into music Genre segements?
It seems to me that the majority of Lineage radio is mainly Old Rock with a dash and pinch of techno here and there.
Though i do enjoy old rock from time to time but almost 10 hrs of DJ_hippies oldies playlist made me throw my speakers out of a moving vechile.
Wouldn't it be a bit practical to maybe divide l2 radio into various genre segments so that L2 listeners can tune in at certain times to catch their favorite Genre of music (techno, J-pop, Rap) and possibly a segment during what appears to be prime time for a request hour where all music can be requested and played. That way you don't log on randomly and listen through 4-5 songs you have no intrest in listening to.
Or is this something you hope to look into when you aquire more DJs?
It's my hope that we dont just sound like the drone of a guitar very soon...
While im not going to do segments, eventually i want my DJs to be able to fill a request no matter what genre it is so it BECOMES a station that is completely ran by the music the listeners want to hear. Just like regular radio, you will hear songs you dont like, but hopefully with the way im developing the station, it wont just be the music you are interested in. :)
I know that DJ_Vampyress is developing playlists that mix up a variety of styles. The fact is, no playlist is universally satisfactory. If there ever was a DJ that played all the songs you liked, there would be a dozen people flaming him for playing sucky music. It's just the nature of the beast.
Some DJ's have a certain playstle, but I believe Shonen is working with the DJs to develop a variety and ability to play requests in the hopes that in general, you'll enjoy at least a portion of the music played in every set.
There are stations out there that play the genre of music you enjoy most... but this is the only station that is dedicated to the L2 community. For me, I'm willing to listen to some music I may not normally tune into because I feel a cloer bond to the community.
