i don't know many of the U.S. holidays, all i know is majority of the holidays that the Euro and Canadian and generally everthing else is completely ignored.

Funny, because I recall there being an event just this last Tuesday.

And the Tuesday before that. And before that. And so on, so forth.

It's the longest running event in the game, actually. And here's the kicker: It's player-run.

Well, the point wasn't so much to promote the event, but to promote the idea that players can and should run their own events.

Why, case in point:

I had a clan event just a few weeks ago that paid out 1,000,000 adena.

I've got one running now that has a hefty prize as well.

The point I'm trying to make is that it takes initiative. Don't just sit back and be spoon-fed events. Make them yourself!
