I've seen a lot of posts about gamepads that don't work with L2 but are there any that work well? I recently tried to use the Xbox 360 controller with the Windows Xinput Drivers and Pinnacle Game Profiler for config but I had no luck with that at all. I would either end up stuck over the character's head when using the built in gamepad support or with nothing at all when using Pinnacle. So has anyone found a good one?
Think you could be less helpful in your next post? If you don't have anything useful to say...don't say anything. And just so you feel even more stupid. Gampads for consoles were adapeted from PC periferalls...not the other way around. (yes the joystick) Not to mention the fact that PC games have been supporting gamepads for as long as they have existed and the fact that L2 has gamepad support programed in. There for it is obviously intended to be played with a gamepad. So... if you want to give useless advice go to another thread, this is for people with something to say

I guess some of the computers could have had joysticks, but they sure as hell weren't wide-spread when I was playing with the Atari 2600. Of course, neither were PCs.
ok...it wasn't called a joystick. That spacific invention was the birthchild of Atari (origianally used to guide bombs ect) however a gampad like device was devloped with pong on the Kapro computer prior to Atari 2600. Owned both systems.
*Edit Add-On*
Reguardless of these facts the responce to my post was pointless and uncalled for...it's not unusual to use a Gampad for PC games...especailly ones programmed to support them. Anyone have anything constructive to add?
an L2 controller would need to have at least one analog stick or directional pad, 2 buttons to replace right and left mouse buttons, 12 buttons for the hotbar, four buttons for character info, map, equipment, and settings windows, a button for the community window, a button for the messenger window, a button to open up the macro window and at least 36 buttons to type "WTS zweihander, 699k!" this suggests to me that L2 is best played with a keyboard.
PS....you can do all this with the mouse (or d-pad/analog stick) you mentioned.

I actually just got this today as a gift from my wife. I hope I can configure it to best effect (some people in my clan also use this - Nostromo SpeedPad). If anyone has any good ideas to configure for a pally... I'm all ears :)
Ill be getting this little device too, been getting such bad RSI from using the default L2 controls, worn my mouse clicking finger cartlidge down to the bone :(
Ok,
I have mine configured for an OL. What I did was I fixed my main hotbar (F1 - F12) as my main crap. I am sure you all have done that.
Then, and this is the great part of the n52, I programmed each key with the actual typed in sequence as if I was typing it into the command. So, as an example
the 01 key on mine is: /usesskill soul guard
and then I built the rest of the keys up the same way.
I then setup and printed off my key layout and keep it handy.
Now, when I play another toon, I use my red button and switch to a different mode. I tried to set it up not the same things (cause you can't really do that for different classes) but I weighted my options and use the same amount of use and applied it to the same keys.
As an example:
My stun shot on my bow user is the same key as my stun for my OL.
the last thing I did was setup my getting my *** kicked macro for my bottom left key on all toons, This does the CP, Greater CP and two heals up real quick. While not cost effective, it does save ones butt when the ganking gets going :)
Oh, and the last thing I did was on key 14, I did the login macro with my name, password, timed enter keys to get me to the select a toon to connect with screen. Awsome. Even if the login server is having issues or too many people online, I jsut keep doing that key and it does it all for me.

wouldnt it be better to just set the buttons as f1-f12?
from the L2 Mobile video:
to do tripple sonic slash, all you do is hold 2, press 4 about, 5, 6 times, now hold 3 while pressing 8-7-6, and uh, press 2...14 times!
I have the G15 keyboard. My Function keys are straight down the Left side, and across the top, so no. I have my left hand resting on the Function keys of the keyboard instead of in the "home" position when I play. then I just need to shift over to the n52 when I need something. It has a natural home position for the hand. This ineffect gives me 25 more keys that are programmed along with my 12 functions and then my mouse if needbe. This also allows me to hold the control key down and use the n52 or if I need to, I can add /forceattack and I don't have to worry about the limited macro line length that Lineage 2 imposes in the setup. Helps with quite a few of my seals or combinations.
You could also stack the attacks or events, as long as you can do either macros or type them in the command line.
Its a gamepad by terminology but its not a joystick per say... I think this sort of gamepad might be best utilized on the left hand while u got the mouse on the right, it doesnt do all.. Its like a compliment to the mouse....
You might want to give that a try, i know i will......
I actually have the N52, and I like it a lot. But, I would like to switch to a cordless PS2 style controller since my new 52" plasma displays L2 rather nicely hehe.
Does anyone know how to configure the analog controls to move the mouse?
Or, does anyone know of a device that would allow me to make the N52 wireless? But this would actually be cumbersome to have a wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and wireless N52. Any help is appreciated :)
i could prolly build one of those but seriously it wouldnt be cheap or quick
cords are cool though it reminds me of my first VCR with the plug in remote

Not sure about the wireless mouse. Saitek makes some Playstation style, cordless joysticks for the computer. I know the software included with my X52 flight stick includes a "magic mouse", which allows the little thumb joystick on the throttle to work like a mouse. Maybe they have something similiar for the analog controls of the PS style joysticks? Theres probably a mouse emulator out there on the net as well you can use.
However, you can use your current setup with just simple cable extensions. I have my mouse and keyboard for my 2nd comp on extension cables and it works fine just like that.

Maybe I am thinking of a different, potion-intensive MMO... but I thought that different classes of CP and HP pots were mutually exclusive in L2?
IE, if you use a Greater CP pot, your standard CP pots are locked out for the same cool-down time.
off topic a bit but greater cp pots and regular cp pots have different timmers.
I also use an n52 I have f1-12 mapped otu a cp pot acro on the lower left and I use the orange button for toggle skills. the d pad I have set to shift ctrl pickup and ctrl
You could map the f1-f12, but I map the N52 to buttons I can't see. That makes it a hell of a lot easier to use something outside of the 12 function keys (like a blessed soe, or in my case my mech golem and siege summon functions) Again just preference, as you could use alt+Fx and switch taskbars..
Yeah I can't applaud the n52 Speedpad's macro functions enough. Tied in with L2's in game macros you can literally do everything with the one speedpad. Were it not for it I wouldn't be able to two and three box effectively on one computer.
This is legit right? Because through the Nostromo I have two macros set up that will automate my gameplay while in party except for quick escapes/item pick up. I have one macro for dances and one for target main attacker/assist/attack. This works out perfectly incase I need to go to the bathroom/smoke. I can walk away and all is fine. I hate having to dance every two minutes.
Yeah, the entire point is to be at your computer. If your using a macro of any kind while not at your computer your technically in violation of the EULA especially if your using a Nostromo's timed macros. I use my Nostromo in tandem with in game macros only, I just use the Nostromo to switch between running copies of L2 on one computer. This has worked out pretty effectively for when I am running trains with my dwarf for polearm parties, I can alt-tab automatically with the Nostromo and heal and be back to the main dwarf without to much time going by or needing to switch mobs.
I think using any macro system besides the ones that come with L2 is considered a no no. All the Nostromo does is let you multitask better using this system. Considering mp consumption with a BD in party with my main (SWS), your one of those BD's I'd like to pk cause you dance without factoring in my mp at all. Can't tell you how many times I have had to sit or ask for mp regen all because the BD is to lazy to have 3 dances on his hotbar and has to macro them all and is to stupid to master the concept of 1 song, 3 dances, 1 song. Thankfully in two or three levels for me that won't be a problem anymore for mp unless they want Vitality.
(edit) I just reread your post, if your using Nostromo's macro functions to automate your gameplay then yes you are in violation of the EULA, this is a no no and is technically no better then using the Walk program the boats do. NcSoft has stated before that using any macro system outside of the ones offered by L2 is a no no.
I use and love my zboard Fang game pad. Works the same as the n52. I've not tried programming any macros into the pad but rather just remapped the keys on the pad to the function keys.
You can also download free programs to remap keys in your windows registry. Doing this will remap those keys for good until you change the registry settings and reboot though so it's not the best way to go. You can do this and remap the number pad to the function keys and use a USB number pad for a laptop and rig up something similar to the game pad. Honestly, the money you would spend on the USB pad isn't that much less than the Fang game pad and it doesn't totally screw your key mappings for other apps.
ya, that is what I figured, Meredien. I just started messing with it a the other night. Oh, well, I have no problem havin people wait while I take smoke breaks what not.
