yea. because mages with no buffs are SOOOOO overpowered vs fighter classes with self buffs (ww2, haste1, might2, shield2, magic barrier2, and more) SoES focus, SoES btb, and Hell knife mental aegis, draconic set and focus SA bows.
SwS, TK, PW, SR - Entangle (halves speed before buffs)
DA - Hamstring (halves speed before buffs)
Tyrant - Cripple (halves speed before buffs)
BD, AW, PR, SK - Freezing Strike (-30% speed before buffs)
Hamstring shot - ??? (halves speed before buffs)
All Mystics - Icebolt (-30% speed before buffs)
SpS - Frostbolt (-30% speed before buffs)
WK - Slow 1 (-30% speed before buffs)
Necro, SH, Sorc - Slow (halves speed before buffs)
PP, SE - Root (ends speed :p )
It's pretty evenly distributed on the slows really - the only problem is that mystics are simply not affected by slows nearly as harshly as fighters due to the way total speeds are calculated - a mystic in DC robes gets, thanks to having WW2 over WW1, 20 free movement over a fighter - 20 free movement that are unaffected by any form of slow.
They also have high MDef to resist some of the melee slows (Entangle, Freezing Strike) and high MAtk to, in turn, land their own.
most people participating in olympiad have their slow spells enchanted to +5 or better, so landing it usually isn't a problem.
the problem is all the self buffs Light elves get, which makes them especially difficult to win again. I mean.. they have self WW2, sws has wind (lol), tanks are going to have root in c5... etc etc.
pp best class in olympiad, sws second, DA/TK/SK third best. (da beats the other 2 though)
Yeah, I wouldn't want to go up against a SwS as an archmage/stormscreamer; I guess mystic muses have it a little easier because the SwS doesn't have a protection song against them, but having them swatting at your face can't be comfortable. :D
It's the only place in the game where the elven self-buffs matter though, so I think fair's fair.
