To me,anyway; you can tell a lot about a Clan from it's website. So..my recent experience was this:
I went to the Devianne forum, opened the "Clan list" topic, and on the first two pages, only two of the links to clans were active.
I thought browsing through this forum, would be better than running around Aden yelling "LOOKING FOR CLAN";"LOOKING FOR CLAN"..but I guess not.
Yea, I'm in a grumpy mood....;(
please state your class, level, and amount of time youve been playing so we can accurately place you in detention block alpha 14 with bubba the former 500 lb male stripper.
Funny, i've always preferred to judge by the players i interact with in the game. Not a perfect approach i'll admit.

But seriously, it's curious how much you can tell about another player by how they chat, how they play during a lowbie raid (or any other), how open they are, if they answer questions from others (or if they don't!).

A player you like or who is similar to you--as evidenced by how they play--will probably be someone to be involved with in-game....whether they have a cool website or none at all.

I'm curious, do you buy healthcare based upon who has the coolest advertisement on TV?
Do you buy your cars from the folks with the best website? Decide on investment houses bases upon commercials?

L2 is played by people--with all the flaws that society demonstrates......and all the remarkable, admirable qualities as well.

I hope you find your clan. More importantly, I hope you find good people in-game-----even if they have no concept of how to build a website for their guild.
Would be a shame to find out you were clanned with the equivalent of Hannibal Lector or Jack the Ripper cause they had an uber, cool website (unless of course you WANT to play with those folks).
Hum,
yes .. I would set my name below your post Drakkos. but .. still :P I see also a point of a clansite. Seeing not cool design and fancy stuff but a CoC of the clans idea and vision as well as a forum thats alive and where people post, feeling the spirit of this family. I agree meeting them in game is still the best but Aden is ... large. Couldnt be complete wrong to use this as a contact too for a guild you like - from what you see. You can be wrong again ... or right, so .. isnt its worth to have a look ? Maybe they are just the people you want. And if not .. the option to leave is still there. You will see it latest when you meet them in game.

I wonder myself why this boards never managed to setup a simple database where clans can be listed and even more important found by criteria like non-PvP, RP, Levels, open/closed recruitment aso aso. Cant be rocketscience :P A thread is a torture to run through. And I believe with a neat tool we can stop this silly ... I look for clan / We recruit threads and encourage clan leaders to maintain their entry.

*babbling* .. Dia
simple even the rp clans or non pvp clans are still forced to pvp so if you dont pvp you dont get 99% of the content in this game.

A clan that doesnt have any website/forums seem to fail a lot faster because when clannies are on different times hard to talk to people without forums. Also really hard to plan events and relay date to clannies without a forum.

Forum doesnt have to look great but it should be funuctional and active, if the forums are fununctional and active it gives you a kind of idea what the clan is going to be like in game also.
Thats what the clan message is for when you login. :p
lol clan message is pointless trust me forums are a lot more useful then any clan notice.

I usually just use to tell people to look for a particular post on the forums.

or what toons are trying to do the name scamm. The clan message at login is good for some stuff like a contant reminder of scams, or to check forums for new updates, sieges so on.

But I wouldn't judge a clan soley on thier website. Definatley need to click with people in the clan and have for the most part the same goals and play styles. But most importantly you need to get along with everyone in the clan. Internal strife can make the game suck. This game is all about pvp and the community. If you are with people you have fun with its great. If your with a bunch of jerks who think they own the game it wont work.

My advice would be too find people ingame and just chat see what they are all about. If its what your looking for good if not move on to the next person.

Also the biggest thing is don't judge people on how they are on any forums. Alot of people are totaly different ingame than they are on forums. Specially some of the other forums the specialize in flaming and server polotics.
