The servers will be down for maintenance at 8:00 AM CDT on September 6 for the launch of Chronicle 5: Oath of Blood. The expected downtime is approximately six hours.
There will be several methods available for updating to Chronicle 5: Oath of Blood once the servers go down.
<ul type="square"> Update your game client through the game updater. Download the full Chronicle 5 game client from FilePlanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/lineage2_c5/) beginning at 9:00 AM CDT. Download the PTS to Live Conversion (http://www.lineage2.com/pds/game_ts_dw.html) file from the official web site if you played on the Chronicle 5 Test Server. The official web site will not yet host the full Chronicle 5 game client, but we plan to do so in the near future. These downloads will be available once maintenance begins tomorrow.
Please be aware of the following changes that will also occur during the server downtime in preparation for Chronicle 5.
<ul type="square"> Your characters will be moved to the closest village. Chaotic characters will be re-located outside of the nearest village. All head accessories (Cat Ears, Party Mask, etc) will be un-equipped and placed in the inventory. Chrono Maracas will be placed in the warehouse of your highest level character. Please note that your account has to have been active within the last three months to receive this special Chronicle souvenir item. Players on the new Franz server will also receive the Chrono Maracas later this month. Replays from Chronicle 4 will no longer be viewable with Chronicle 5. The event items announced previously will be removed. Be sure to listen to Lineage Radio (http://www.lineageradio.com) during the downtime for updates and an on-air interview with HGM spam at 11:30 AM CDT!

Those statements do not exclude the possibility to convert a pre-existing test server version to the full C5 release version.
It just says the FULL version from scrap will be available atfer 9ish.
I went on the link and clicked on the conversion link. Semi-followed the confusing instrctions and it said it was downloading the missing files in a weird window.

Download LineageII.new file "
Dont know if its the actuall C5 realease version though. But logically if it downloaded new files on top of the PTS version, one would assume it was to the full C5version.

Last chronicle update i tried it 10 times, but i kept crashing after one hour or so update, so in the end i had to download the full client and reinstall the game copmpletely.
This happened even if i have a pretty fast connection.
Does anyone succeded with this method last time?

The reason is that the update server has C4 on it right now, connect to it, that's what you'll get.
Exactly. Before the downtime, you will DOWNGRADE your PTS files to C4 files if you try the pts->live conversion thing. Just be patient, wait until the update server has gone down and is up again. The updater is not that "intelligent", it just compares the files you have on your computer to the ones on the update server itself, and if yours are different - older OR newer - you will get the ones from the update server.

The update server was very very unstable last time - it was a lot better this time, but still not the ideal solution. I would definitely recommend a full download.
What is the size of game update? I pay for net traffic and want to know which way of L2 update is better for me.
I suppose that download of the full new client is more effective in terms of traffic volume. Am I correct?
And btw info on the size of download is not a waste of bytes ;-)
The Main Website still is setup for C4. It has link to downlaod C4 from Fileplanet and C4 details on top tabs. Probaly good idea to fix or update that to C5 information.
Edit: Ah ha, figured it out. It looks like the navigation on the official message board isn't updated yet, so it only shows up to Chronicle 4. Please try getting to those pages through the main site at http://www.lineage2.com -- thanks!
Edit #2 -- Also just figured out that the sub-navigation in the Myths & History hasn't been completely updated. Working on that too! :)
Skills list for all races still reflects C4 skills also Items and Armor still reflects C4 skills. It would be nice to know SP and levels for new skills.
how do I delete the file planet updater, It says I have to close out the application before deleting it but i tried to delete it right after a restart. Plus it had a "pup" some kind of spyware my virus stuff said.
What if I want to be able to go back and forth between Live and the PTS? The PTS to Live conversion file in the downloads section, after I extract it to my test client folder still takes me to the Live servers.
Is it a mistake in the conversion file or is it an error on my part? It's pretty cut and dry, so I'm trying to figure out how I could be doing something wrong.
Here is what I do. Take the C5 PTS client you just updated to live and copy it to your original L2 folder that had C4 in it. Once thats done connect to live server using the exe in that folder. Just doing that to make sure everything copied correctly.
If it all works then I will use the Live_to_PTS_conversion to make the PTS folder go to PTS again.
There you go now you have C5 live and C5 PTS again.
