i bought some seeds from the manager in dion, ran out, planted and harvested some red cobol, tried to sell it back to him and i got charged and no materials were given, apparently im missing something.
do you still have the fruits in your inventory?
The quantity might have been too low to result in a single reward, and consequently lost!

Carefully calculated if, and how much, you are going to receive.

Red Cobol can be set to reward either Charcoal...or Enria. Charcoal is a '200a' item but Enria is a 15,000a item. Thus if the reward is set to Enria you *must* turn in enough fruits to recieve at least one Enria to get anything. (The extra fruit is 'lost'.) So 15,000/buyback amount = #of Red Cobols you need for each Enria as a reward.

Obviously if the reward is set to Charcoal the break point for each charcoal is a lower, but the method is the same. One thing to watch for is when the Lord sets the buyback amounts super low. (Like 50a per) Which makes it much harder to harvest enough to make manoring worthwhile.
ah, must be the latter. thank you
And where exactly do one find that enria for example is a 15k a item? Many thanks.
You can find the game determined adena value for items and mats on many fan sites and probably the official as well. A less accurate was to calculate is to go to any NPC who will buy items. See how much he'll pay for one Enria. Double that value is it's [approximate] game determined value.
