now i did what i said made a copy of c5 pts directory then copied my c4.exe file over it.
Update server is down so i quickly bypassed it to make sure i did it right. Now when i put in my password and name i expected to be disconnected or if went to server selection only to see all servers down.
Well guess what Bartz server was up but.... IT WAS THE PRIVATE TEST SERVER!!!!!!
What went wrong and is this on ncsoft's side or mine?
you need to make a full file check before to get the correct server-connection file ...

Additional you should take the correct lineageii.exe file from the DL section at lineage2.com. in my opinion you need only to wait for the update servers to make a full check

I never delete the old chronicle till i got the new chronicle up and running
It works, I just did it on 2 machines.
Copy your C4 Lineage2.exe into your PTS folder, then open it from there. It will do the filecheck and you'll be all set in about 2 minutes.

It sends you to the pts because you need some updated files from the update server. There are files in the PTS installation which tell the client which server it should connect to, and you do not have them yet (you still have the ones from the PTS client, so it sends you - to the PTS. So just wait until the update server is up, then it should work.
Did you copy the L2.exe from your system folder or the L2.exe from your Lineage folder?
I believe the L2.exe from your system folder is basically the game client and bypasses the update server link, if you still have the PTS L2.exe in your L2 folder (not L2\system) then it will link you to the PTS update and you will then recieve the PTS files.
What i did was to take all the content files from my C5 PTS install and copy/paste them into my C4 install, then once the C5 live servers came back up i just downloaded a few files and i was set.
What i mean by content files is the maps, systextures, textures, staticmeshes, animations, sounds, music folders.
i copied the main directory exe to the new c5 directory exe and it updated 2 files ran a full check and its done ready to connect to c5.
2 - 3 minutes top to update.
Yes, exactly - you want the lineage ii.exe from the C4 client, because it points to the live update server. So put everything EXCEPT that old lineage ii.exe into your C4 live directory and start the game as usual. That should do it.

I d/l the pts to my laptop and thats patched up and ready for c5, but the problem is my main pc doesnt have the pts on it. atm im updating using the login server but its taking forever :( would it be quicker/easier to d/l the pts and convert it or something else? any help?

go to your commnad prompt, type "ipconfig/flushdns" then try it again. this should get you to the log in screen, but you will be stopped there, since the login server is not up yet.
