Mages already get so many huge bonuses from weapons/armor that they really couldnt add much to robes without causing a lot of fuss or even more problems.

Precisely...people whine too much about nukers as it is.
Because what we really needed was more FoTM archers.
Balance would dictate that bonuses would be similarly useful to the classes the armor was intended for...
Nevermind, we can't have balance, apparently it isn't fun enough... we will just nerf the next class in line to pointlessness and buff another class to godmode.
All the sheep will reroll/subclass to the next godmode class, and the cycle can continue next patch!

Don't be so quick to jump on the bandwagon and say the answer is 42, without first understanding the math.
I for one would love to know what these huge bonuses are that only mages seem to be getting from weapons and armor that no other class have ever gotten. See I always thought that all armor types have sets which give bonuses, and since mage m attack works with a square root, they are the ones who seem to gain the least from better weapons.
And you would say that all mages get acumen, and that is proof that it is overpowered. But you never stopped to wonder why all mages go for acumen. I'm sure the fact that every other SA available on a mage weapon is worthless contributes to this not at all.
It would be more correct if you said every class gains benefits from good armor sets and good weapons.
There are plenty of interesting things they could have added to robes which would have added tot he happiness of the mage with the armor that wouldn't have detracted from the proper happiness of another player. For instance they could add a bonus that gives +30% resistance to poorly thought out and poorly implemented nerfs, or a robe set which would decrease the mp cost of a spell when that spell was cast on a creature, or an ability that increased conversion ratio of body to mind, increased the speed of the heal over time effect of the newly revamped healing spells, increased the duration and likelihood of fear landing, or really anything which would more specifically effect pve and not pvp. Though if every other class gets good pvp set bonuses, it would only ve fair that mages get the same treatment, especially after they just had the big nerf stick jammed up their ***.
hey when melee starts getting +15% patk on their armor and their weapon then we will talk.
You bring up the fact that other mage sa's are no good.
HAHAHA what about melee ? crit poison there is a great one.
Half of the melee sa's are pure garbage except for what 3?
Mages go for accumen becuse they already do enough damage they just want to do it faster. If they want an sa that gives them more MP its availible if they want to hit harder its availible but nukers dont complain about how much damage they only complain about how fast.
Increase my patk 30% and it still wont get me close enough to a nuker without being sleeped debuffed and nuked for 10-20 times the damge.
42 is 42 and 30% increase in casting speed is 30%
what do we get 8%?
When was the last time you saw a 75 bd take down a 75 sh or necro?
IF you did only reason , bought account and didnt know how to play, severe lag, the mage was preoccupied with a bigger threat that did most of the damage, or they got confused from being suprised.
There are exceptions all of them revolve around either having a bow or already being close.
Ellisande actually points out an interesting fact - there are no worthwhile PvE mage SAs, while many melee special abilities and SAs actually increase damage output significantly.
The weight gauge thing is pretty sweet IMHO, but of course I'm a summoner - and I think it's very good that there's no uber bonus on +6 armour; it's far too hard to achieve to make it good (this sounds backwards, but it makes sense when you think about it a little).
I like hearing mages cry their eyes out. Was great to hear them sob about sleep. Now 99% of the mages wont even get +6 armor bonus and they are still crying.
**** mages, you can only beat more then 75% of all the classes still, I would reroll if I was you. Must really suck to be so weak in this game.
See that goes under the grounds of useless SA. I'm not going to pay several million adena for an SA which does exactly what the self buff I never use does.
Well if my spellsinger had body to mind, maybe it would help. But helping with crowd control? Maybe in C4 when we had a useable sleep.
Now severely altering some of the SAs, well Magic Power to be specific, in such a way that it increased magic attack by 15% without increasing spell casting cost would make this a viable alternative. And since magic attack is square rooted, the actual increase would be less than 15%. Thus mages would sort of get what they want, more damage output, while everyone else would be getting what they wanted, fewer mages with a bazillion casting speed.
But Maline hit the bullseye, the SAs overall for +6ing equipment needs to be insignificant because their availability is essentially zero for the majority of the players. And in a game where equipment and levels are so important, this would negatively effect the majority of a player's pvp experience.
MP regen or Magic Regen? Those are two very different things - as many people who acquired a Magic Regeneration weapon only to find it buffs the Regeneration for HP buff had to find out.
Yes, acumen is worthwhile thanks to BtM - my bad. It still leaves spellsingers grasping for a useful SA. There are many very nice melee enhancements (such as the fact that upgrading your weapon has more of an impact on PAtk than MAtk) for melees, and I really don't think the whole "I want 15% more attack speed on my weapon too" thing pulls - BtMing and casting faster does not equal swinging faster.
There are other areas that are unbalanced, such as tattoo distribution.
I am very seriously considering +6ing a Karmian Set for the weight gauge increase - the set is cheap, so are EACs, and the weight gauge would be very helpful to my main when she's not AoEing. :D
Sorry Elli but I dont buy this. What classes other then daggers before got SA's that changed their gameplay the way NC Soft intented. Daggers were suppose to be classes that had skill who would do alot of damage IF they landed. But then came Focus/MM SA and people were getting stabs with incredible landrates. Same thing with nukers, I always saw the casting speed of spells as their bane. SH did alot of damage but was slow. With all the cast speed increasing SA/Armors/Tats there are now days, do you think this retriction SH had have any ground? My classes restriction was that its slow and has to charge up his skills. Do you see any SA or set armors that would make these go away?
also look at the set bonusses for the DC robe. There is no Armor for melee that does like what DC does for mages.

Btw, Pdef increase and MP regen increase aint that great on heavy armors. WOOHOOO, my Destroyer will get faster MP regen, as if I'd need it in the first place. Doh.
The whole +6 armor thingy is just a money sink and I dont really mind it, since it wont alter the gameplay that much anyway. Nukers and archers will still dominate slow melee classes with ease. Wait, they will still dominate all melee classes with ease >.> (Yes, I'm provoking ;) and making generalizations and yes, this disclaimer is here for all the "not so bright" ppl who would otherwise start rambling like madmen about how this and that is unfair to their uber classes.)
I was thinking of making +6 light armor and switching the boots / gloves / helm and re-subbing dagger, but changed my mind today.
+8 or more pvps on my lvl 60 necro sub whilst hunting SB's. all of these were off daggers / archers lvl 65+ (and an SPS and EE, killed SPs and silenced the EE as she cast return, lol).
what are they really going to do? S grade robes arent any better than A grade and they arent adding much more mage set bonuses because they already give so much in other sets. IMO they should have taken it easy on huge int/wit bonuses and saved some for the later sets.
No, the mid patch won't reduce the weight of pet SS, because they already weigh "1". They should have gotten the bloody hint and put some compressed packages of them with the pet manager, or made a Greater Compressed Package of Beast Soulshot recipe available for dwarves or something, but they are that heavy.
