My Windows Crapped out so I had to Reformat. Also, the original CD disks that I have for L2 seem to no longer function as it craps out at 52% while it's installing.
On the FilePlanet, it shows C5 worth about 2.9Gb's. If I download that, it will let me use the Auto Updater to get the rest of it or no?
I have one more question, will the rest of the files be downloaded through the updater or do you mean there are separate files on FilePlanet that must be downloaded?
Other way around--if you use Fileplanet the updater has more work to do.
If you use the update server installer you will have to wait for 2-3 days for some forum poster to put the "unofficial fix" for the update process on the forum and then do what that person says.
For some reason, the "auto-installer" from the update server has yet to successfully install a chronicle for me.
Don't worry, someone will post the real way to make the thing work in a day or two, again.
I should've downloaded it from fileplanet. Patching for 6 hours now and still not finished (4/5 finished now).
Is there just too much traffic on the patch-server or is the connection to it that bad? Seriously, i've got an 16MBit internet connection and it is aprox. 0,01% utilized :D

Hell, I'm going to work in 4 hours (I work from 11pm-8am anyway), so if the Updater thing works, it'll be on all night while I'm at work. Hopefully it won't have disconnects like last time :(
By the way, for some reason, this is my 2nd time this is happening. Realling annoying. 1st time nearly the same thing happened right when C4 was released as well.

Huh? I've always updated from here and never had to do any kind of end-run to get it to work the same day as the update. :eek:

I really dont want to blast your dream, so just a sidenote:
My updater go disconnected three times now, fortunately it's running smoothly for the last 2 hours or so.
Another 5 pixels of the Total Progess Bar filled :eek:
ditto, mine was open and supposedly running for 4 hours while i was gone--i come back to find i'm disconnected from update server and about 1/30th complete.
I'm not in a hurry though--the game won't let me log on after the updater installs c5 anyway (it never has yet).
At this rate I'll be playing sometime in November...............
I know I'm a minority of exactly one player in the whole world--but I absolutely hate these chronicles.
I liked the game just fine the way I found it in C2 and would be happier if it had stayed that way.
3 chronicles in what? 5 months is a heck of an accomplishment for NCSoft and the development team (seriously)--they have accomplished some amazing things.
Personally, I don't like all this each time. As a part-time player I only get an hour here and there in the evenings to play and these 'updates' interfere with that for the better part of a week.
I know everyone loves the changes. I acknowledge it's amazing work!

there are faster ways than the standard updater man :) if you were a pts tester, you have 99% of the files necessary to play. just copy overtop of your live stuff, and run the live .exe
youll download all ov a dozen files only a few kB and youll be in game far far far faster.
always test on the pts. youll be in on the first day of new updates every time.
Great, but as a lowbie and relatively new player I wasn't goofing off on the PTS--I was trying to level my toons.
My problem (and admittedly I'm in a foul mood tonight) isn't with the length of time the update server takes. Imo it takes what it takes.
I'm just saying that even AFTER it finishes (about November) I will still have to rely on other players telling what to go get and patch and move and change in my computer to actually get the game to run------again.
and all through that I won't be playing the game I love to play.
