Yes this has got to be the best yet. Well thats if you downloaded the PTS and just patched over. It took me all of 10 minutes to update and get in game.
I will never ever update from live client again, Like I did for C4.
smooth? i wouldn't go that far, have you not seen the problems being reported? i set it off downloading when i left home for work and already had it disconnect me a couple of times and i know i'm not alone there, going slow as a snail, plus tried to download it off file planet and it wouldn't let me unless i signed up and then paid either a yearly or monthly subscription.... even though it was being advertised as "free to download"
File planet is free and I've already downloaded a copy from there for free. You have to select a free server with a wait time (normally not more than 15 mins). The update server is being spammed by everyone and his brother...why didn't you just download the PTS like everyone recommended from 2 weeks?
I'll have to have a better look round fileplanet then, everytime i choose anything it says i'm either not logged in or i have to subscribe... regarding the PTS, i don't frequent these boards very often so didn't know about that would be the best way... i guess i'm just dumb in having faith in the game updating in the way its supposed to?
oh i don't doubt, thats why i left it on while i'm at work, i'm just concerned that when i get home its going to have disconnected or downloaded everything and get some of these tasty errors that everyone is reporting, i just don't find all this "smooth" i wasn't around for the last chronicle updates so i can't compare, so if this is smooth compared to the last ones then fair enough, just doesn't seem that smooth in general to me
Some of us are kinda new (been playing 5 days) and don't have a clue what "PTS" means or how to use it. I guess we'll have to get by without the sympathy.
In Prelude, you could expect server crashes in normal game...not daily, but several times per day...sometimes close to hourly. Bugs in game (like castle walls in C2) could crash clients or the server on a mass level. Even bugs with the text allowed players to cause server issues. The lag was 4x as intense as well. Updates took time. The C1 update actually was a stop and go process that took me 38 hrs to finish. I was lucky and still in school, so I was able to stop by my home PC often and restart the update process...but it was by no means anything like this. Many of us already had the update completed with but one file's exception!
Now you can download the whole client on fileplanet for free, and run a 1 hr update? Jeebus this game is 2+ gigs...how fast and how much bandwith do you want?
lol fair enough on the comparison, but i had already moved on from complaining about the download time to the bugs people were and still are getting :p and i'm not taking any chances, i've got the updater downloading at home and am downloading the full client to take home with me just in case it DC'd last night, speaking of which, if i do install the client from fileplanet, do i just need to uninstall the existing one and install the fileplanet one?
oh and P.S i used to run Lineage 2 on an old very old laptop so i know all about bad lags and disconnects ;-) although they were my fault hehe
To all of you updating the hole C5 patch now. Take this as a lesson. It's much easier even if you dont play the PTS to to get it. Then convert when live client comes out.
Knowone really cares how long it takes, when they can play live client while the PTS takes hours to download and update. But if you wait until the a new chronicle comes out you are bound to run into issues along with thousands of other people doing the same thing at the same time.
With the PTS_to_live_conversion it takes about 10 minutes to update and poof your done.
So when the next major update comes out remember how iritated you are today or even the next couple days. Most of us that did the PTS conversion were in your shoes on previous chronicles and learned our lesson already. It's just your turn now.
A new huge expansion is always an e-logistics (if that's a word) challenge. Just like you wake up at 2 or 3 AM when you go on holidays so you don't get stuck in a traffic jam, it makes sense to plan ahead and try to get such a release early - and if it is by asking around.
In either case, I really don't think 12 hours to get the whole thing downloaded is too bad - that's going outta the house and coming back in the evening.
It is only taking me around 4 hours to download with live client, it really isn't bad at all. It has been a smooth launch and I will give NCsoft credit for it's accomplishment, however the content of this chronicle is questionable and customer support is still going downhill. Can't say I am too impressed yet, but I will give it a chance.
As much as i look foreward to playing C5, The week long or more download time seems abit much, isnt there anyway to reduce the download time? I doubt i will be refunded for lost playtime due too downloading.
Well i downloaded it (at work) gonna take it home in a few mins and see if my update has worked at home.... if not bam with the fileplanet update ;-) overall its been quite quick for me, but i'm more worried about the errors people have been reporting *crossing my fingers* it doesn't happen to moi
I'm also still in love with all the tiny RP/lore goodies added. :D
I hate those randomly spawning quest NPCs. I found one but I think it's like Toma and spawns in random locations. Worst still is that they may spawn at random times. It's like Baium and Toma in one package but at least the quests for them are not critical. It's just annoying to do when a quest can take more than one path.
Oh it's not the "correct" price, but it's **** well the price I paid :p From a well known botted account too :)
When I first looked at your picture I was like "so big deal you lvl'd a Soul Crystal to 13" until I realized that was a sell shop and the price was 16mil. Oh man I only wish I could be that lucky. I have yet to run across a good deal like that.
Thanks to the PTS Client, I took only 25 Mins to update and then it was a smooth playing both on Franz and on my old server (gustin).
I also extend this thanks for a smooth launch on behalf of the german community, as there was no reports of any problems so far, and we are half a day into playtime by now.
