Noobish Question: Crystal Count

Hello there,

i'm wondering what this should tell me. Currently i've got (thanks to the Event) a Bastard Sword and i looked it up in the libary.
The libary states a crystal count of 1170. What does that exactly mean? I've looked up several sources but wasn't able to find out what this "crystal count" is for.
Can anyone explain that to me?

it means that if you get a dwarf to crush it you will get taht many D-crystals.

If it is a "Adventure guide basterd sword" or something like that, you cant crush it.

AND

ONLY GIVE THE SWORD TO SOMENE YOU TRUST VERY MUCH TO CRUSH.

If you dont know or trust anyone, ask a dwarf to put that amount of D-grade crystals into a trade window and you put the sword in the trade window.
