Very few mobs, very low change of getting the books dropped...
That's not EV, it's a lot worse. If you find a free spot, you can be hours there to get the SB, and (like happened to me today) some mage can arrive with his dualbox to kill the mob and stand at your position so you can either Pk him (impossible being prophet), ask him to leave (and won't do), or go another way.
When farmers program their bots to farm that place... it will be just impossible to get that books, and their price will be forever like 1-5 million.
I totally disagree with NCsoft with this affair.
The rush will die down as the market gets saturated. I'm sure the place will be virtually abandoned by the time I'm high enough level to get my books; until then make do wtihout the skills, ask friends for help or pay the price.
MalineII some mobs got 2 spawn points, thats about it, and they got over an 1/200 drop rate for one book, I've spent 9 hours hunting them to find out that we didnt get what we needed.
Then you need to count in that thers at least over 100+ of that class who want that book, it's not gonna be easy at all, some SB's where easier then others thoght, but some where just a massive pain in the ***.
Got 5 SB's of what I needed yesterday, 10 more to go.
I managed to get two of them in about an hour and a half I think...I snagged up Erase and Magical Backfire. I gave up on trying to get Mana Burn...not enough mobs...too much running around there
The mobs were designed and placed, obviously, as if there was no massive overload of players wanting these spellbooks - that's how it is, it blows, but it's typical of NCSoft and was really to be expected. I'm sure they mobs will be farmed pretty much 24/7 until the market's full.
tried 53 silver ones gotten 15 black one soutta those (u better be a grindaholic or farmer :P)
when you go for the black humculis you have to trade 1 for each time.
then you get a box you pick 1 of 2 then an other box and you get 1 of 2.
Start quest.
use ice pick..
use chisle...
next box:
want to shave the ice with chisle or
want to trem the ice with pick.
after you make your second choise, is says if you get a black humo. or not.
so it's a 50/50...50/50 chance to get it...you got a 1/4 chance to get a black ice.
the reword is very random.
I have to remember but I think with 23 black ice turned into the NPC standing next to the ice table I made 30k+....if you talk to him you lose all your silver humocles to.
but if you can find the girl in the middle of the FL, which only comes out at night, you can trade them over for other items.
on the PTS I hated the quest wasn't worth the time. but was nice to learn what it did.
BTW I couldn't figure out how to get to the girl in the middle of FL.
I spent about 2 hours farming just the bandersnatch groups and got 1 betray and 1 trance. I have ilke 6 more books to go :/
As for that lake if you head as if you are going to Archaic lab and before the bridge (I believe) make a right you can get to it that way. It's hard to explain because of all the twists and turns.
Last night we spent 6 hours with the Gargoyle Youngers. We needed 2 spellbooks for 3 people. It took all that time, and still one of us was without Mana Burn. The mobs spawn too slowly and they don't drop very well.... Not only that... thank god we had alts that were in the mob level range. I am amazed at the shortsightedness of adding and changing up these skills for us who have levels way beyond the level that is needed to farm them. At least they should drop in the initial periods of C5 from dark blue mobs.
As a bishop, these skills are imperative to me. Can't use sleep anymore... I NEED trance in order to perform my PvE group function. And then... the WORST part is that the SP needed to upgrade these to my level is almost ridiculous. It will take a while for me to get the SP to do that, and will be hard to function in a party to get the SP. Catch 22. Getting the AA for scrolls too is undercut by my lack of ability to perform my job. VERY frustrating
I was hoping C5 would make the game more interesting and NOT more Frustrating. This is extremely frustrating. Anyone have any suggestions? [Besides "quit whining" :)] :cool:
I remember hunting about 14 hours for my merrow, and on and off probably around 30 for the aqua cubic ... so all these numbers are making this huge "problem" seem rather tame.
I went out hunting and had the same problem finding open fields... Then a Gladiator friend of mine went running around solo and in less than 10 minutes got Greater Might off a mob that's light blue to him.
I also talked to someone else in taht field and they said that in 2 hours they got 2 Greater Might book and on one Greater Sheild book.
If this is characteristic of the drop rate, the price of thsoe books should drop fast.
Die more? I'm 76 with all those 76 skills learned up and still have like 20 mill SP left. Sieges and maxed out wars FTW I guess.
LOL, Yeah. [Well, you have 2 levels (huge levels) more than me... that's worth 20 mil SP :) ] Guess I'm sorry I haven't died more... since i used up all my SP just on the 4 new skills (2 still not brought up to par) and still have 3 more to find spellbooks for... and I can't use my bishop to farm them, getting sp in the process .. oh well... I guess the whining would be neverending :) I'll spare you

I wonder about that, too. The quest guide somebody posted (the list up there comes from it) says that as soon as you have the first black crystal, you talk to the NPC and "the quest expands". Well, it doesn't want to do that for me :(
Do you have to be a certain level to get these exchange options?

Well that's all you can really do, or buy extremely overpriced SP scrolls.
I farmed last night for 2 hours and got no books at all, but the day before got 2 so go figure. It's just impossible to find an open area for the really needed books like clarity, greater heals, shield, etc
