I have always been fine with 60% crafting, way I figured it you fail one you succeed one. Worst comes to worst maybe you fail 2 before you get 1 but that shouldnt happen so much.
So, I decided to craft
Here is what I have tried over the past few months
3 carnage bows
1 soul seperator
2 kris 60%
2 kesh 60%
1 dark legions edge
1 dark elven longbow 60%
1 som
Results
1 carnage bow success
2 kris success
1 soul seperator success
2 carnage bow fails
1 dark legions edge fails
2 kesh fails
1 dark elven long bow fail
1 sword of miracles failed
I have failed my last 4 60% crafts.
How am I supposed to suvive? This sucked so many of my resources...hundreds upon thousands of mats valued at god knows how many millions not to count blades and recs.
The sad thing is I know that its going to fail before I even hit the create button. 60% crafting should give you a slight suprise when it fails not a big suprise when it actually succeeds
From what I gather from other people its the same thing. Never have I talked to someone that had a winning 60% record, ever.
Whats the deal here? Do they just say 60% and its really a random chance? If it is a 35% success at least tell me that its going to be 35%.
If its going to be 35% let me use 35% of the needed mats and dont make me use 100% rec amount of blades and parts.
This is just completely ridiculous. I am almost forced to buy all my gear because I end up losing many millions more just trying to craft it. Thats even with me manoring most of the mats!
It's probably just chance if it fails or succeeds. It's like they say there's an 66% (or something) chance of not breaking your weapon going +4, but I've broken 4/5.
For me the pattern of 60% crafts has been 3 success, 3 fails, 3 success, etc.
Only diff is with 70%, I have a 100% streak on those.
Just failed my 5th in a row. Goodbye tallum leather armor. Wonder why people ebay when I have literally 150-200m in failed crafts. I am so god dang ******.

I dont mind failing an OE because I know its just a gamble and I never OE if I cant afford to replace the item. 60% crafting is different because that is the only way to get A grade and above gear so you dont really have a choice.
Not the only way, you can get them as drops or from quests ;) Atleast some of them. And 60% craft is also a gamble, thats why it's 60%. And you dont _REALLY_ need A-grades to get to max lvl.
Yes, I figure I will go to 50 crafts at 60%. If the odds are evening out I will continue. At that point things should get much closer to their anticipated average, yes?
it's all luck. I failed 3 FULL sets of majestic jewelery right in a row. every piece. but luckily I don't fail my weapon crafts like SoM and arcana mace.. heh.
I have done way to many crafts to keep track of all types but I do remember A weapon crafts so I will show that here.

In total: 5 / 8 = 62.5% which I feel really good about right now largely due to the last four being successes.
So, you can get some good and bad luck when running small samples. You need to run many, many trials to validate probabilities.
As an example, my OE rate is 62% after having tried to OE weapons over 40 times. This is fairly close to the published rate of 2/3. Small runs of OE have been close to 100% (I did 9 in a row once) and 0% (I failed 6 in a row once).
My biggest gripe is that long runs of 'fail' and 'success' are bad for the economy and people's in-game sanity. I went on a bot killing PK rampage once because of failed crafting (OK that's probably a good thing though ;)). It would be nice for NCSoft to implement some sort of RLL code for the random number generator to limit the number of consecutive fails or successes to maybe 4 that way you can't be ruined by 60% crafting. Although I suppose if there was an RLL it would be exploited as soon as people hit the limit by switching to cheap crafts until the fail occurred.
Anyway, carry on! Crafting and OE adds a lot of excitement to an otherwise tedious level grind.
yes, the problem is everyone in this thread is stating 60% rates or even better over much lower timeframe. So it ends up seeming to me that this is a problem I am facing almost exclusively which gets me even more frustrated lol.
Things are getting better

tallum blade
At first I thought I failed the tallum blade and was sad. Then I realized my window wasnt scrolled all the way down so it looked like I failed when it actually succeeded, wewt!

I have succeded in 11:26 A crafts for a success rate of 42%. After failing 3 time on my Elysian, I bought it for less cost than the 3 failed attempts.
I realized early on that crafting A grade to sell was a way to lose money.
If you get your mats and recipes for free, and can craft lots of weapons to get that 60% success rate, then crafting will probably make better money than selling the mats and recipes.

you need to craft enough items to throw the statistics in your favor
problem is the l2 rng can be pretty crazy at times. i know a guy who crafted 4 soms back to back but on the other hand i also know a guy who failed 6!!

thats what I thought too
Today was another banner day
failed great sword
failed kesh
failed tallum plate
failed tallum plate
success kesh
So lets see...I am rouglhy 10/40? When are these 'odds' supposed to level out exactly? I figured they would start to and I would get a lot of successes in a row but still at roughly 30% success rate.
Well, I guess the odds do even themselves out. I took every last adena I had to make
Sword of nightmare*sword of nightmare 54 crit bonus for oe
Sword of nightmare*sword of nightmare 54 crit bonus for oe
stormbringer*nightmare 76 crit bonus
stormbringer*nightmare 76 crit bonus
Took all but one from 0-8 in one sitting. Things have a way of evening out. I will stop my complaining at this point.
Ok, went on a good streak what I was waiting for
