New To The Game Question

Hello,
I am new to the game. Just got it on Thursday. I have a real problem with Movement. I am begining to hate the fact that most MMO's are click to move. I understand you can use the Arrow keys but the movement setup with them is so off its rediculous to even try. Is there any way that you can change how to move. I checked the options settings and only get video and sound options. Am I missing something somewhere? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, this mmo is click and point. The arrow movement is so awkward that it is better not to bother with it. Also there is no way to change this.

However, the click and point is pretty well done here. You will get used to it. On the plus side, you can talk and walk in this game! Something that isnt doable in a lot of mmo.

yea I guess thats true.. Next question.. I just found a trader in my first newbie town. I tried to buy a set of armor, and it charged me for it every time I did this. But it only tried the armor on for 5 seconds before I lost it. Do I have to be a certain level to buy things? Why would the game charge money to try something on? Everything I chose was green btw and it looked sweet. Kinda bummed out now it went away..

What kind of movement problem are you having? Is it lagging a lot? Is the response slow? You may have to go into settings and undo some of the more cpu instensive options such as setting your textures, modeling details and motion details to LOW. Also put reflections and anti-aliasing to NONE. Uncheck shadows and ground detail. Click ok and hopefully you can move better. Later add/subtract options till you can get a more tolerable gameplay. Uhm I think you tried to "wear armor" instead of "buy armor".

And yes, Hind is a very good server. But you could also try Franz. This server is brand new and most players are lowbies like you.

If you join an established server however, try to join a clan before you hit 16. With the academy rules, a lot of clans will want to sponsor you.

Ps. Don't forget to visit the cute kitycat as soon as you hit levbel 6. She will give you a very good weapon.

LoL thanks guys. No lag is fine. I am just too used to EQ/WoW movement I guess. I think I am on Gustin but it seems kinda desolate. Unless thats just how every newbie area is. I am only level 5 so its not like I am commited to anything hehe. As for the armor, I found a trader and everything had a price. I dragged the armor down into the secondary box of the trader window, saw my money disappear for it, hit ok and got the you will only try on armor for 5 seconds and poof it was gone.

You actually can set the option under the General tab to "Enter Chat". This will cause you to have to hit the Enter button before typing in chat, thus allowing you to use the w/a/s/d keys to move around. But it is clunky. I often find myself getting stuck at doors, small rocks, etc. I use a mix of both clicking and w/a/s/d.

I've only been playing a week myself, and movement is my biggest gripe about the game so far. No ability to jump, the w/a/s/d thing (which, let's be honest, has become pretty standard, even for mmorpgs) and the fact that the camera does not swing nearly fast enough when clicking to move. I've several times found myself kiting a mob right into another mob because it was just at the edge of the camera before the camera finished moving back behind me. I'm getting used to it, but still....

Hehe I totally agree. I find myself getting stuck on everything with just the arrow keys so I gave up and used click to move.
