Just got home from work and set up a store. Had my items in macro (alot of stuff) w/my chat window open all the way. before when I seen my toons name leave the screen I would hit macro again and strart hawking my goods all over again. I just got a warning that if I used the chat window again I would be blocked for a longer time...I had to log off! What the hay, How am I going to sell the junk that I don't want or buy stuff I do. Don't really like this C5 Change! Anyone want to buy or trade my junk I don't want! Seeing as how I can't sell it in game???

How about the trade window? I'm thankful they're cracking down on the spamming. Why the hell should everyone else effectively lose their chat windows because you want to sell your stuff? They're not the ones trying to move goods.
Still seem like a lot of spammed sell messages flying around as far as I can see.
Think they SHOULD be restricted though. Who wants endless chat messages of 'wts--crap. /target me'?
Doesn't appear to me at this point spams have been reduced.
Garin seems to be the place to sell your goods. Always more buying and selling there than people looking for groups. If people don't shout out what Items they have the place would look like Oren or Hunter's Village. Two places with alot of people standing around saying nothing should be enough.
Help me understand...Two towns should be enough for peace and quiet? Two towns should be enough where we don't have to listen to automated or spammed messages because you just have something special to sell? Um, yeah, no. We're happy with spam free areas and Giran needs to be one as well.
Yes, there was a block in C3 and in C4 so it's nothing new, perhaps they've just changed the timer or something :) And you can sell your goods without spamming the **** adds every 10seconds.
I shout only buystores for which I'm willing to negotiate seperate prices once when I sit down. There is no point in announcing a sellstore via chat, unless you intend to negotiate a lower price for a quick sale - and that requires you to be at the keyboard.
The problem you describe sounds awfully like the chatban that was already in C3 and C4 though.
<3 stores spamming "WTS thisthat cheap PM" - you PM, the guy response 4 hours later "sorry I was afk"
Or "WTS thatthose see my store", you take a look, item is sold but still advertised.
I know there can be macro made like
!WTS thisthat
/delay 300
!wts thisthat
but it does not spam the chat as much as 5 lines of text spammed every 2 minutes and person still responds after 3 hours "sorry I was AFK". That's not what game allows to do, so ...?
so, it uses an automated, illegal 3rd party program to do that ^^ Nothing new.
If I spam adds, I will be at the keyboard since sometimes you can negotiate better deals than if you just went afk and sold the items passively :) I was trying to get 8mil from HoP in C3, advertising it as "WTS Heart of Paagrio cheap, pm me" and when someone pm'd I'd ask for an offer and gee, the first one was 12 mil ^^ Easy money right there. Never advertise your price but ask for an offer and if its too low, tell them your starting price -and remember to make it higher than what you really want so that you can haggle and let them think that in the end they were the ones making a good deal- and sell yer goods. With active selling I've dumped my whole stock in 1 day and if I'd done it passively it would have taken alot more than that since the afk shop would have been empty for hours on end :)
On a different side of the WTS ... Cheap debate, some buyers, including myself are very informed consumers as to market prices thanks to some random website and as soon as I see someone shout the WTS without a price I ignore it.
Sure haggling might work for some people but when you can't be up front about what you want to sell something for why should I waste my time trying to figure out what you want for something. I'd rather do the /findprivatestore and shop around instead of having to play the cheap game.
I generally feel when someone shouts something is CHEAP that 99% of the time is ISN'T otherwise you would have stated the price. It isn't like we don't know the average price for items now. Just be upfront with what you want.
Oh, but if you take prices from a webiste and think they're the word of god you might be grievously mistaken. And I think we both know which site you're referring to ;) Andthat one is dependant on the sniffer info its getting from the clients and as such it can sometimes be alot less than trustworthy.
Also, many people like playing the market, they actually like the social aspects of haggling and stuff.
The site you're talking about does not make you an "informed customer," it makes you a lazy buyer and thereby a potential victim for those who actually are informed and playing the market. The price listings there are incredibly easy to manipulate, and even when they reflect the actual state of the market, are not a reliable guide.
The only way you will know the market is if you spend time in Giran, look at the stores - take the time to notice which ones actually sell and which ones don't - and yes, if you haggle for your things.
I sometimes respond to "WTS cheap".
My clannie got +10 Homunculus responding to that "WTS +10 homu cheap". Got it for 60m. He sold his +9 immediately for 95m afterwards ... lucky LoL.
Those who are selling "cheap" are either market veterans who know what the momentary price is and still make profit, or somebody that wants to get rid of stuff very quickly. And then there are automatic vending machines advertising "cheap", when you look in their shops items are usually 10% more expensive.
Cheap is very popular word :)
Not really a problem...I will still shout out my goods...I am a merchant in a market place after all...My job is too sell the stuff! Good chance then for player to catch a good deal...I never Macro unless I'm there to take calls and if I'm PMed ..I deal on the best price always lower than afk store!
Sorry if I'm annoying while selling...I'm a merchant that's what I do; it's my job! (SPELL BOOKS FOR SALE...GOOD CRAFTING RECIPES...+3 MITHRIL STOCKINGS...ASSORTED BLADE EDGES... PM ME OFFERS!) LOL!

Shouts in Giran blends all blend together. A good and successful merchant stands out. Giran shouting FTL.
I think they could reduce the amount of spam by allowing people to sell more than 3 freaking items at a time. I have over 120 spellbooks in the WH and Inv. If I ever stopped grinding long enough to sell any. I can imagine that I would have to shout "SB's for sale PM me with what you need". When what I would really like to do is open a store with them all and go to bed.
