Hello everyone. I came from World of Warcraft. I beta-tested Lineage 2 when it first came out. But the game has changed so much.

I want to make a class that's great for 2 handed sword/swords and for powerful close melee combat. Is Orc-raider-titan a good choice or does anyone else recommend something else?
Welcome to Lineage2! Wonderful to have you on board.

Now someone who knows the answer help this feller, 'cause I don't know the answer!

Orc Destroyer

If Raider is the precursor to that then yes.
What were you playing in wow?
I'm thinking hard, but the only class I can think of that gets two handed sword mastery is the raider-destroyer-titan.
But you often see elven swordsingers with two handers too.

Welcome to L2 btw :)
I think a Destroyer will the best option for you yes..so Raider > Destroyer > Titan.

They are very good in two-handed swords powerful melee combat.
Im both (using 2handed swords)
I would say if you wanted just flat out melee go with the Destroyer for 2handed. The problem i found was i didnt like thier skill set to much. But that was just me! I like thier look more than the elf though..

Its been a tough choice :)

oh and hello, welcome.
Swords High and welcome to Lineage 2!

First bit of advice I woill give you is to NOT think of L2 in WoW terms or in terms of other games. Skill sets, character class roles, fighting styles are all unique to L2. If you enter L2 thinking that a dual sword weilder will behave like one in wow, you'll wind up being disappointed after investing your time to level one up. I suppose there's a chance that you'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm a realist (often dubbed pessimist).

Second but of advice would be to experiment with the various classes, make friends, read these boards as well as other ones and try to get an idea of which classes at the higher levels seem to match up with your playstyle (solo or group, close in or range, take the damage or output it, etc.). Then when you think you've found the right class for you, build a Main and level it toward your goal.

Lots of players want a toon that looks like the cool guy on the box and wind up a chronicle or two into the game complaining that they aren't happy with the role their toon plays in the grand scheme of things.

What server do you play on?
If you want to swing huge weapons, Destroyer is the only choice. If you want to be a powerful melee fighter, there is Tyrants and Gladiators out there too. And the pinnacle of swift melee dmg are the dagger classes, who dont have as much endurance and downright brute strenght as the 3 previously mentioned. Destroyer is unmatched in sheer power, but it is also the slowest of the classes(untill you're down to 30% hp and get Zealot in, hellooooo world :P ) and as such easy prey to the ranged classes. Altho a good player can make it harder for the ranged classes ^^

Destroyer is a class that needs lots of studying if you want to master it. It isnt just Frenzy/Guts, Rage, Battleroar =win class. It is much much more especially when it reaches the 3rd job of a Titan.

If you want challenge, versatility and one of the coolest looking toons, go for it. But be warned, it isnt a class that will shine from the low lvls thru to the high lvls. Its a class that will be at the peak of its power at the high lvls.
Wow, lots of replies. thank you everyone...

i played on Medivh, Zul'jin, from Zul'jin transfered to BlackDragon Flight, and Drak'thul... all high end raids, WoW was too easy and i heard L2 was, well lets just say more fun =)...

thank you everyone for their input, so more questions about the Destroyer would be....are they for PVE or PVP? are they good for raids/siege? Because im looking for a heavy armor/heavy weapon class (mainly 2 handed) that's fun to play at high end game. and with 31 classes to Lineage 2 i just want to get alot of info before i start playing....

hopfully i can get alot of inputs from Destroyer players and other players opinion on the class and other class compared to Destroyer...
A Destroyer is most of the time the last char to be standing up in PvE or PvP (no idea abou the ganking pvp in siege, I lack experience in those to answer that question)
Hi
& welcome to L2 :)
If you want to check out some skills & class information to help your decision, you can go to the Library & to go classes/race/skills & it will give you a list of skills from 20+ on each class. Good luck & hope to see you around :)
You can gear a Destroyer up for PVE and they will shine doing it, but personally I like the PVP aspect more. PVE is just something that you do in order to PVP better. For raids, with the change in C5 they're pretty useful as they're heavy hitters and melees now play a part in RB hunting. For sieges, you can either play a meatshield stunner role(goes for all mass pvp), a hard hitting low ranged "archer" with lots of HP (altho it got nerfed a bit in C5) or a melee DD. Best thing is that you can mix them all to some extent(you either sacrife dmg or life, cant really be both in the purest sense).

Destroyer is a high end class since most of the usefull skills are high end content and are really worth using only when the class has lots of HP to start with so yes, its fun at high lvls. Alot more fun than before high lvls. I'd say that from 60+ you will notice how the Destroyer starts to build up momentum and gain in power and reach its pinnacle when it becomes Titan and gets all the nifty skills up there. I'm not saying that it would be a boring and a lousy class before lvl 60 but after that it just gets so much better and diverse.

And we're really the only class swinging big weapons with efficiency(polearms not counted and Warlords dont have much on us even with those weapons ^^ )

Hope that helps somewhat, I gotta go now, need to sleep before the plane lifts off.

Destroyers get very high HP, and several skills that boost that HP when they get close to dieing. They do have high durability, BUT...

I'm surprised no one nominated what I consider the all-time champ in using weapons in both hands and dealing out melee damage at a lightning pace; the humble BladeDancer using focus duals (or haste-duals) and their 'dances'. They do not possess the HP reserves of the Orc Destroyer, but they can hit hard and fast and kill very quickly.
thank you Charmille for all of your info and thanks to everyone else for their input. Everyone's info has been very useful and thanks again.

i started a Orc fighter on Devianne, named Nissmo. If u see me shot me a hello =)
