Hello. I just bought this game today and I was wondering if there is anything I know or any servers I should start on with friendly helpful people who could make my knowledge on the game more superior then what it is now. Thank you for reviewing my post hope to hear from ya'll soon.
pick any server it really doesnt matter (teon and franz for euro timezone)
my first advise is dont beg anyone for adena or items (trust me you will want to beg lol)
if you let the ppl around you know that you are new ppl will most likely help you out
dont give your gear to anyone no matter what the reason
Also consider the ping of the servers, the less the better. But few points dont realy matter, os if you decide to go on some server and it got like 2-4 more ping that the next one dont worry on that.
The people from Bartz who say that our server is better because Uprising won the tournament are arrogant, I will admit. Thats actually one of the few reasons why people semi-supported Uprising, lol. But not everyone is like that. There will always be a competitive nature between Servers. Granted, I am speaking in my opinion, it is a good server if you're looking for pvp action. Sieghardt is a good choice as well Kain...I do have to agree about Erica though. :p
welcome to game!
Ideally, you would go to either lionna or devianne as Spudnik said. All the really talented and nice players are on those servers.
The people from bartz and those others aren't just quite right, if you know what i mean (jk--lol!).
Actually, I've found great folks on Lionna (really) and a lot of them and the same with devianne.
Pick a low ping (32 is better than 105!) and a higher number server cause those older servers (lower numbers) are for mean-spirited, old people (jk again!....on the mean-spirited part).
Lower ping is good.
Perhaps, all kidding aside, you might read some of the server sections below in this forum!
You'll get a feel for the response to other new players from more established folks. If the 'new player' on a server follows up their "hi! i'm new" post with thank you's to a number of players then that means they probably got a lot of help/support.
Good luck in game. Fair warning---it's more addicting that drugs!
If you go to lionna give 'drakkos' a shout. I'll give ya a hand as I'm able. :)
All I hear from bartz is alot of stuck oppions; my server better then your's cause " upraising" won the battle turny.
only server I'd highly recommand any one stays away from is erica!
He only says to stay away from Erica because he is afraid to come here himself :p
Joking of course, but Erica has some good people on it to be honest. We also have our share of greifers. If you want a heavily populated server just look at the server load when you log in, then get the one that while it says heavy has the lowest ping time. Less lag = more fun.
One thing to consider when picking which server to start on is that Franz is only 8 days old, so the average level is a lot lower and it should be easier getting into groups and clans there.
Now the next question is my class .. if anyone could maybe make recommendations.. I would like something PvP and as well PvE .. And I'd like to stay melee and I wanted to be something with Dual Swords but I was looking at most the stats on them and they weren't to appealing...but now I am maybe considering a Gladiator.
Biased opinion--blade dancer is a nice damage-dealing class.
I am not there yet on my palus knight (35 atm) but look forward to trying it out.
My clanmates (2) that were BD were great to have around pve.
Also, don't sell dual swords short. Even without masteries for them they hit fast and can grind up the right mobs really well. On my main server they tend to be a bit cheaper to get than the top-D weapons.
If you use SoulShot the duals will burn that up faster though so keep that in mind.
Melee DD you'll hear most about bladedancers and glads. Both seem good.
Straight melee there's the orc warrior and nobody else in 1-40 levels.
Nukers/offensive mages you'll hear 50 different opinions on best class and the same with the summoners for the most part.
I can tell you that leveling the dark elf 1-20 seems much, much faster to me than leveling the human fighter 1-20. I'm not sure if it's just the higher strength of the dark elf or if the area has something to do with it.
I wouldn't level another human fighter for money!!! Ponderous doesn't begin to describe it for me.
A dark elf fighter if you can get him a falchion somehow very early will get to 20 so fast it is amazing. The class change is ridiculously simple too (and cheap).
This quick trip to 20, even WITH the falchion is not true for human fighters (comparatively) and it's not the case with dwarves either. Light elf fighters are fairly quick for some reason but I feel the DE goes faster. Orc's of course kill quick but you have to want to be an orc to put up with that plodding run speed between mobs. In my limited experience they are second fastest to lvl 1-20 all things being equal.
I've only played one archer (and he certainly wasn't faster than de fighter to lvl to 20) and I've never played a dagger class so others will have to tell you about those.
GL!
Lol this thread probably hasn't helped you overly.
As you can see, people get quite territorial about their servers, so prepared to get attached to the one you choose haha.
I am not one of those who never change servers... currently I have a 50+ on two and 20+ on all of them (including Franz, which is the newest), simply for a flavour of each. Maybe you should create a couple, on different servers, and see where you fit in best with the class-style or atmosphere... alternatively, see where you are luckiest.
I was luckiest on Bartz, and subsequently found a home there for my first real main (who remains my favourite to this day), but only after trying a hell of a lot of variations on other servers.
Two weeks ago I would have instantly said 'Go to Franz' for the simple reason that you would (despite the rerolling veterans) be in the same league as every other player, but in retrospect, I would actually say to find a different one- one that suits your style- having played Franz for a long as I could bear before giving up. Not only were the 'cheating' players horrendous, but everyone felt they had something to prove (which they did), people became cocky, and it became fiercely competitive.. also in the literal sense. There were three times as many players in the starter towns as there were monsters. I had 4 permanently chaotic characters before I finally managed to restrain myself enough for the first class-change to come and go, and now I don't play it anymore.
Anyway, sorry about this turning into a novel, but my basic message remains as follows; listen all you like to the 'my server is best, come to mine I'll help you out' etc, and bear it in mind, but the right server for you will be found through experimentation. Perhaps if you give us a little detail about your play-style (I love PVP / I like to solo better than group / I hold a mortal fear of Europeans) we could give some real advice.
...
The next debate will be the 'what class should I choose?', and there the fun will really begin =P
Good luck, and give me your screen-name when you decide on a server... if I ever stumble across you I'll give you some in-game tips and tricks.
PS: You made an intelligent initial decision to ask on the forums first, I didn't appear on these things for a looong time lol.
Sorry I didn't notice the actual 'next question is my class' haha, but I was right eh.
Most of the time, if you wanna utterly pwn, in my opinion go Nuker. I would say 'dont ask which' but you probably already have lol. Most things, one on one, that a nuker looks at... die.
If you wanna pwn with more of a challenge, then BD or Glad probably sound better. But people can become strong, rich, powerful, appreciated, respected or popular by simply being good at whatever class they choose, all in different ways.
There I tried shorter posting.... not sure I like it :P
