THis didn't do this in the old days and I am back. I pick long hair for a reason on my de but when I put on brig for example, i get some disgusting ponytail. Tell me this can be fixed? I just want to keep the hair I have (long) when i made my character. The game never used to chair our hair like that. Makes character creation pointless.
ummm its been doing that since a good frind of mine started playing a bd so since c2. Sry I think it make sense. If ya don;t like the look of the armor select another armor
Yeah it's been doing that for a while, I don't know why they don't just fix long hair. And changing to another armor is hard when the majority of them have high collars and force that ugly ponytail.
No i picked long hair for a reason and It never did this in the old days, I still have all my screenshots from prelude and c1, and I'm not wearing worse armor. Look is important, and they shouldn't have changed that. [censored] the developers then. That really ****** me off. I made my character look a certain way and when i used to play it wasn't an issue. I don't know why they did this Screw it though, not playing this then.
*blinks* So you would rather not play than play if they put your hair into a ponytail? Thats gotta be the strangest reason I ever heard for someone to quit L2...and I've heard a few hehe
Well then why make a character creation screen with hair? Why does City of Heroes.villians and a large amount of other games including next gen mmorpg/fps games have a creation screen to pick your look? Because we want to choose our look. I used to play this game years ago and it never was a problem. Yeah I won't play it like this. I choose long hair, i want long hair. Not some ratty *** pony tail.
Hmm I'm sure there are some nice japanese games that are based on looks and fashion if thats your main reason for playing *grins*
Forgive my teasing....I play female DE too so do know what you mean. If I wanted a ponytail I would have chosen one......am just finding it amusing that it would be a deal breaker for someone.
There's a lot of games where look is a factor. I guess you haven't played many, or seen a lot of the next gen mmo games coming out. The thing that bothers me is the hair always looked the same in c1 and before that. Why all the sudden the change? Oh well if i have to look at my character, I want it to look how i do plain and simple. So i'm not playing this. It's pointless. Thanks for the reply, it answered my question.
I found composite an adequate replacement - until I realise that while FP allows long hair, it still clips. Then I picked different hair (a less ratty *** ponytail).
Seriously though, this is annoying - I've deleted a character because of it, and had to change another's hairdo. There would have been better ways to handle it.
It should just work like it did in prelude and c1. the clipping was better than totally losing your look to some rats *** tail sticking out of my the back of our heads. It wasn't broke they shouldn't have fixed it. IF they really care about the clipping, they should weigh the hair layer properly in 3dsmax (i did) or whatever they are using. I'd hate to piss them off but I will say my dark elf lives on in a ut2004 mod with her long hair working fine.
I just cancelled a bit a go anyway. I'm not playing this game if I can't have the hair I choose, and it used to work FINE in prelude and chronicle 1 and in fact works in c5 in some unofficial places. Should here too. Oh well. Back to the extrated ut2004 model and the other places I can play this. I won't pay for it if I can't look how I choose to from character creation, i'll just go play it elsewhere, where i still can.
Well, the hair changes when there are things like a high neckguard in the way of the natural flow of the hair. The moment you put the armour of, it turns to normal.
If looks are that important to you, I sugest trying on a different armor set. Or get a hair change potion to get a look that is more to your liking. Or you can play a light elf. They all have long hair and the armor is designed with that in mind.
i hate light elves, I really like my dark elf with the long hair. I don't want short hair, and BEFORE they changed this it worked fine. I can tell you step by step how to rig and weigh the long hair right in 3dsmax, well tell them right here on the message board, if that's why they won't let us have long hair without that rats *** tail poppin on when you put armor on. I don't like any other hairstyle though. Like i said i played beta, prelude, c1 - hair worked fine long in all of those. They should just put it back. If someone picks long hair and not a ponytail then they want long hair! I ripped the model, then remade most of it a lot higher poly and put it in ut2004 (for fun) and i rigged the hair right so it didn't clip with high collar armor (i did 4 versions). Also on the evil evil emulator, this is not an issue. They should just change it back to when it did work in c1 and before OR email me, if they are that ignorant about rigging and weighing the hair properly, I'd be more than happy to help them. I'm a literal professional with modelling tools and the unreal engine.
I appreciate the posts though, but it's not what i want. I want long hair to work like it used to with any armor - the end. I wont try different armor, i don't want to gimp myself because their modelling animation team cant weigh the hair properly or that they even changed it to how it was in c1 and prelude, when it at least stayed long and looked nice.
and on a side note i went in and tried on other ugly as hell armor that is cheap and not what i want, and it just sickens me. I used to be able to wear any armor i wanted with my long hair in c1. Im just going back to the emulators and ripping models [censored] this. If they didn't want us to use the hair we pick with the armor WE pick then to hell with them and this game. I'm seriously mad and upset and sorry a lot of people don't understand but I do play for looks as much as anything else and it is important to me. They should just put it back the way it was if it's too hard for them to do something simple in max, maya or whatever they use to weigh it properly. I feel cheated only because it WAS fine and worked with all armor at one time.
Well, you must do what you think is best. I would like to see the long hair working well with all the armors of course. But it doesn't.
No idea what level and class you play. But if you level up, you will need to upgrade your armor anyway. You can then choose whatever armor looks best. For the way it looks, how it interacts with the hair, what the set bonus gives you. Etc. I always check out what an armor looks like before I buy it. Then choose the one I like best.
At high levels you can't really afford to wear armor that doesn't suit your class in favor of hair, I mean you can but why? The first hairstyle shown on a DE female is the long long hair. It's just flat out stupid that it wasn't taken into consideration when the armor models were being made, and the ponytail thing is just a bandage to the actual problem.
Then Mohamed has poor foresight and engineering skills. Especially if he put the mountain as mountain choice A on the create new mountain selection screen.
It being the first choice means jack. One would be very narrow minded to pick a hairstyle just because it is "choice A". Eggs work like that, not hairstyles.
You're missing the point, if the long hair style was going to get clipped or put into a horrible ponytail in most armors, one would think they wouldn't put it on display the minute you switch to look at all the half naked DE's when making a character.

I'm not sure if anyone said this, but when your checking out the armour in Library, does it show the change in the character's features well changing the armour? :p
I'm still a little perplexed by how a lot of the light armor graphics on my human warrior (doom, nightmare, etc) intersect with my chin when I'm in my default pose. You'd think that would be something they caught pretty early and would have fixed.
Not to mention half the shoulderpads on majestic intersecting with the whole upper body.
And let's not get started on SE's holding duals and buffing. One of my ex clannies had an entry going "#SEPPUKU!" in most of his macros.
Okay you guys fail to understand I played this game from beta to c2 and quit. IN prelude and C1 you could put on any armor and the hair you had on remained the hair YOU chose, not some piece of [censored] hairstyle. I've worn every type of armor from heavy to robes back in prelude and C1 and my long hair stayed long. They need to just put it back like that. Did clip a little but I would rather have the hair I CHOSE and played X amount of long months, day, hours and minutes of my life on, than some disgustingly thin pony tail crap.
The guy that likes the pony tail, if you like it, then make your character have it in character creation. I do not like it, I like the long hair. THAT IS WHAT I chose, that is what I WANT. This game is totally ruined the hair never did that before. If they do not know how to weight the hair to the collars properly or they could do it to the back, then they should just put it back. Nothing sucks more than playing the game for 50 levels and then putting on armor and your head looks different. Not the hair you chose. I've known nerfs to skills and game play in general since Ultima Online to date across every mmorpg I played, but this is nerfing my hair. Not to mention if they are too lazy to weigh the **** hair properly in max, maya they shouldn't be making games. If people hate the clipping they should pick a pony tail style. When you run with the long hair or fight, which is raised up 90% of the time I'm playing anyway cause I am in combat or moving in some way. Maybe make an option in game options for it. I'm seriously upset by this, what a waste of my time.
I did quit, I'm waiting for the time to ellapse, and I'm not logging in anymore and I am stealing meshes from the encrypted packages to use for fun, since I can't see my hair just look like it did in c1(prelude too) and I am checking out emu's where that little weird nerf doesn't happen. Besides, this game doesn't have the subscribers to do things like this to piss them off
We fail to understand nothing, you fail to understand thats its changed and it aint changing back, its time for you to quit like you've been saying you would and leave for forums....
Oh and by the way, ITS JUST HAIR!
Its not like you got to 75 then they reset your character to 40 for christ sake. Im glad they made the ponytail in some respects, it was weird to watch hair go through armour, they should get rid of the high collars or something.
Jeez its the stupidest thing to argue and quit over, but noooo someone had to do it.
If you wanted a ponytail you pick one, if you want long hair you pick that. IT SHOULD NOT CHANGE. Period. Plus they can't even work in 3dsmax properly.
...and it's not stupid to me, it's important. Leave the thread if you don't care. I'm posting about how they need to change it back and it can be easy with about a days work in 3dsmax (or maya). Very simple. I did it.

No, correction, your posting about how you WANT them to change it back. Need implies a threat is involved, only 10 year olds make threats if they dont get their way.
I'm going to keep posting. I'm not making any threats. I did quit. I'm explaining how it very easy to do in 3dsmax. You obviously don't care about the hair, so stop posting in the thread, you are the one getting owned just by replying to something you claim you don't care about. I'm trying to fight, but I don't post in threads I don't care about, why are you?

Posting that an issue is not that big of a deal is just as relevant as your point of view. You claim that no one gets what you're trying to say. We do, we just don't care. If you don't want other opinions (including those of "no opinion") don't post on a forum. Certainly don't tell others to stay out of your thread.
Im getting owned? omg please help me im dying of shame?
I was talking with Mal and the others about other characters that - when casting/using skills - attack themselves with their gear. They dont 'omg im not going to play because my DE man caster stabs himself and that dont look nice to me' and threaten to quit over it.
The only REASONABLE thing thats been put in this thread is about maybe removing the high collars on cloths, or removing the long hair style because most armours dont permit it.
I care about it, i just dont 'care' enough to quit over it and make a post crying over it, telling everyone who has responded that they 'dont get it'.
Times change, armours change looks, hair changes colour and style, deal with it, its the only thing you CAN do.
You don't have to remove the collars on the clothing, you could but you can weigh the hair layer in 3dsmax to the collars. The armors premit it fine, it's a mesh, it's easy to rig it up. I've been doing it for 12 years. Not hard to do. Not to mention the hair has the unreal 2.5 engine kat physics applied to it, if the korean developers knew how to properly work with the unreal physics, they could easily apply two things here. one to collar armor (that's all but a day) and the other to long hair. Then their would be a few minutes to hours (depending on how skilled the rigger is) to tweak it to work perfectly.
As for times changes. yeah they do but if you CHOSE long hair it should remain long because that is what you chose. If I wanted a pony tail i'd have chose one, not had it forced. They need to address this issue. If long hair is some big taboo and it shouldn't be, and can be fixed easy or just reverted back, they they should remove it. Until they I will fight about it. I really don't care that anyone here doesn't care. Support even told me to keep posting here, though with L2 (unlike CoH) it doesn't seem to matter to them most of the time.
