So I joined a clan, they seem real nice, I'm an 'academy student' or something like that :p Where do I get the quests for the D grade armor? Thanks.
just so you know the clan is only useing you lol\

i beleave you have to start the quest with your sponser
someone else can tell you more
You can get the quest from the Head Blacksmiths in both Gludio or Schuttgart. Whichever is more convenient for you. You have to have a sponsor to do the quest and your sponsor needs to be with you for the second half. The talented and diligent miss Ellie Belly wrote a guide for the quest here:

Also, you're new right? Get your sponsor or someone in the clan to pony up the crystals needed to buy the armor. :p

maybe he is just using the clan for clan hall buffs and 50% rezes...
I think it is a good incitive to get new players involved in your clan. And those academy armors are very good. It will help the new player to level faster so he can join the carnage faster.

yeah one of the smartest things nc ever done
encourage 70+ players to want to help lvl 1 nobodies

not sure how good those armors are but the moral and economic support should point the newb in the right direction at least
Either way ... student gets armor, clan gets rep points.
Sponsor tells student "you give me those 771 D crystals to get you armor" and student replies "I leave academy so you won't have any rep points." Fair trade :p
Those armors are pretty good, not bestest of the bestest, but very decent D grade. They are great for any legit newbie that has troubles getting equipment, can save 500k - 1m on getting D armour, that can be invested in better weapon.
I would risk saying the robe is probably the best D robe set available (5% cast speed 5% pdef and no negatives) okay knowledge has 10% m atk but has -mp regen and is expensive to finish the set.
Nope, they are not. That's exactly what I said, at leat, umm, tried to. I no englich good :p

If you leave academy you cannot un-equip your armor anymore. So the smart student just stays with the clan. Personally I think that most clans are willing to sponsor the noob. Why? Because 711 D-crys is not a big issue to them. They spend more on soulshots in an afternoon of hunting.

If you get the armor, and you leave you can't use it...if you class change you can...you get a tiara to for being in acadamy and completing the quest.(IDK, I like that)

not just robes but heavy and light are better....specailly light armor, lol +5% pdf and +3 eva to wowzor!
That would be Blacksmith Pinter.

Sponsers: be careful who you choose- a clannie had his 'Apprentice' quit the clan as soon as he got the armour. It appeared in our WH- he was level 17. Let me re-iterate... NEWBIE. Nomatter how many times we warned him, he simply up and left the clan.

As such, as well as being a laughing-stock and gettin the next (honest) academy member free D grade, he will never make it past his first class-change.

Apprentices: Milk it for all it's worth. But give the clan somethin back eh? Like, level a bit and actually earn your stripes? Don't be a 'tool' and gain some points properly in the next war? Even get a cute little tiara for your troubles.

ANyway, Pinter is your man, not the head BS but a normal BS in Gludio. Go with your sponser- I've done the bloody thing twice now, with two different people, one a practise run with a mate's alt and the other a real live newbie who needed a hand. Thank your sponser vehemently; Kill some lizards and spiders, then when you get it stay loyal to the clan, and... well thats it.

Easy as Pie.

Very true I’m sponsoring a newbie, and it is a refreshing change from the grind. Although i'm only lvl 62 :P

Agreed, they are the only D grade robes that increase casting speed. which is very nice because it's lets the SO solo to 25 with no prob.

for these additions I say NCsoft good job.

I originally posted because I wanted to know how to earn my armor not 'milk the clan'. 922 d crystals is a lot tho, not including the teleport cost to giran and back to buy/sell stuff...
The sponsor buying the crystals is the point of the entire thing, I think. It gives older players the opportunity to help newer players out, and newer players complete their second class change quest and give the clan reputation points.

Everyone gets something, and NC gets people not quitting because they're being allowed into larger, older clans and have far more help than they would have solo or in a smaller, newer clan.
There is also the same quest in Schuttgart that starts with blacksmith Newyear. It's a little easier.

I personally would not give a random noob 771+ free D crystals. We went through this on the PTS, it's just not a good idea. It's a piddly amount compared to top D armor (mithril robes for instance top and bottom alone are about the same amount, not including helm, gloves and boots!) and if they can come up with at least some of them it's better than oh here's free armor.

I'd go into details but yeah... I wouldn't buy the stuff 100%.
Is 500-600k adena a lot of money for a lev 60-70?
Not if they are good money makers. But I know people in that level range that are always broke. But for me it's not a lot (not on my previous server, but now as Im starting out on a new server, its different of course :p)

Is 500-600k adena a lot of money for a lev 60-70?

it's about a 4-5 grind session counting adena and drops. and on top of that alot of A graders have old D grade weapons they can crystalize.
Go train bots in heretics, more than enough D grade drops to get D crystalls ^_^ thats how I get mine.
No, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna play loosey goosey with my money just for some rep points that the clan might not ever get. I can't tell you how many new people I outfitted that just dropped off the face of the earth.

A good job it is. As for the binus it's right but don't forget the robe itself has about 11 pdef out of 79 less than Sage's Rag and accordingly is giving you 90 MP less. Which on the whole set will be quite noticeable.
And yes the price is not an issue when you're 60+ but I also found the whole quest was way too easy. It requires no commitment from the newcomer.

The quest is made in nearby locations which is a good thing and refreshing from the _port_all_around_aden_ ones but it only requires to kill a mere 20 mobs. The quest is thus completed in about 20 mins which is an error. No 'training' nor 'affiliation process' is made in 20 mins.
I honestly think this quest is better designed then more then half of the 55+ quest.

do you think that stollen ore quest or ToI quest are good ones?

Being one of the most active posters in the "Fix ToI threads" I wouldn't say that.
I don't have any prob with the stolen ore one tho. Overall you get each blade at 100k counting 10blades shots and failures.

But then making the academy a 20 mins quest is giving a bad signal. things don't come easy in L2.. but that armor does...
hi i did the clan armor quest with a toon from gludio got the d grade armor but if you read the second quest for clan armor it says c grad i did that one on another toon and still got d grad have i read it wrong or somethin?
No both quests give the same exact armor.

Not true, if the newbie is in your academy (assuming your recruiting process is more that shouting “clan recruiting”) they have proved themselves committed to the clan is some shape or form. And as for the Sage Robe comparison your right, but I think that’s fair for the level of the quest.

I think the ease of the quest is why it works. If it took too much time or involvement, it would be worth it for the noobie, but not the sponsoring guild. If the gear wasn't good enough to make a decent jump, it may be less hassle for the noobie to just scrimp and save a bit more and buy their armor. This provides a low entry barrier to get things started, with possible future payout for the guild to keep things going.

In other words, it puts all incentives where they need to be.
