Academy Armor

What are the Pros and Cons of the Academy Clan Armor?

It's not exactly "free" as you need 771 D-Crystals. After you're done with it, can this Academy armor be sold or your crystals Refunded?
I believe you have to complete your 2nd class change quest and 'graduate' from the academy the armor becomes yours to keep, sell, crystalize.
So what happens if you quit or get kicked from the academy?
You can wear the armor, but once you unequip it you cannot equip it back. At least that what's in patch notes.
I think Ellie said that on the test server you can continue to use it (Equip/UnEquip) no matter what on a character that has graduated from the academy.
PRO: With very few exceptions, it looks far better than any other available d armor.

The patch notes say you can't re-equip if you leave the Academy. What happens to people that graduate from the Academy (i.e. complete the 2nd class transfer)?
When you graduate the academy, you move into C grade. That makes it useless to reequip.

Anyone really being apprenticed will have access to buffs and +'d up D sets. Anyone under 40 with even level 50 buffs is in god-mode, and armor doesn't matter.
I don't know about you but way back when I was a 'C' grade mage I was still using a Devotion armor set since I couldn't afford Karmian and Demon was impossible since the only way to get the gloves was the wishing potion quest.

So why is it that the Academy armor is no good for people in the 4x levels? The bonuses look very good. I would think people could use this armor for a bit longer giving them time to farm the manor to raise up enough adena for top C weapons and armor.
The D grade robe set is pretty good. One less casting speed point (on an elven wizard) than elven mithril and no -INT and better p.def.
I like the academy armor, and all of my lowbie alts are wearing it. It gives a decent bonus for all types, and you don't have to spend crazy amounts of money for the set giving items (Brig helms anybody?).

The only con for me is that everybody is going to be wearing it fairly soon. :p
For a level 20 922 d crystals is a crazy amount of money. It's unfortunate that the sponsors are expected to pay, I really would have liked to see some way that the recruit could quest for it. The idea of manor system or rags is a bit constricting.
Does this armor drop on death? Can you wear it while red?

Hopefully answers are no and yes. Then this would be the perfect outfit for a pk clan.
922? I paid 771 for light. Does crystal count matter on what type of armour you choose?
i heard robe and light was the same but heavy was more
sounds like nc pushing ppl towards the good classes to me ^^

It's fortunate ! It has the sponsor involved. you don't want to see someone who you invested half a mil on go away.
It makes a link. The level 20 has nothing to pay.
771 for light/robe. 922 for heavy.
I agree, there are benefits to the sponsor getting involved, but nothing stops a newbie from sucking up 900+ crystals then quitting the clan... or the game. If that new recruit showed they were willing to invest in L2 a sponsor could trust them more. Ellie Belly seems like a nice person, yet you can see she suggests a careful approach as well, there should be some half way point between recruit loyalty and sponsor interest IMHO.

And yes robes/light armor cost less than heavy, I have no idea why. The mantra around here is archer/nuker for pvp and TH is FotM, makes sense for NC to promote heavies instead of penalize.
Ok. ty for all the answers. Looks like I'm just going the ol' fashion way and getting Brig for my PK. That alone has a few benefits over the Clan armor.
Exactly, I would suggest some sort of halfway point. People don't always value things they get for free. Ask them to come up with 100 crystals, 200, something. Think about it, if academies didn't exist, would you take a (possibly random) level 16+ into clan, give them FREE D grade boots, gloves, helm, full armor? As a level 5 clan? Very unlikely.

I see coming up with at least part of the money as a good indication that they'll even hit 40 AND do the class change quests. Just because the quest says the sponsor has to give the crystals, doesn't mean they have to cough it up personally 100%.
