Hey there all, I'm relatively new to lineage 2, (lvl 23 Palus Knight,) and I just had a quick question.
As the Subject indicates, my question regards 2 handed swords. It is my understanding that only destroyers have a specific 2 handed sword mastery skill. My questions are: Is it totally useless to use a 2 handed sword on any other character type? Does the standard Sword/Blunt mastery apply at all to 2 handed swords? Or does the dual sword mastery apply?
My VERY long term plan if it is useless to use a 2 handed sword on a dark elf is to choose the destroyer as my first subclass (yes, its a LONG way off.)
You may ask, "Why go through all this trouble? Just make an Orc!" Well, the answer to that would be simply that I really like the way a dark elf holding a huge sword looks. ts just my taste, nothing more.
I'm going destroyer for sub.. and part of it is because I really like the dark elf and 2 hand sword animations
If you go pallus knight then it really doens't matter and you can use a 2 handed sword. you won't have masteries for it at all but it does nice damage
However... from 40+ you might think of using something else.
Still... I've heard that some Shilien Knights (one of the dark elf 40+ warrior classes) use 2 handed sword. Thing is, you get shield masteries for sk so it woudl be a shame to throw that away.
If you go Blade dancer then you get masteries for 2 swords so that has nothing to do with a 2 handed sword. You will want to use both swords if you are a Blade Dancer.
All regular Sword masteries apply to Two handed swords. Destroyers just get another skill (Two handed Mastery) that stacks on top of the regular mastery. (Mainly just gives a little extra accuracy and a tiny amount of patk.)
In fact the Two handed Sword mastery wasn't even in the game to start with! (It was added in C4 IIRC) Most classes with Sword mastery tend to stick with a shield+sword combo anyway since most of them are tanks anyway. But all of them get the same benefit from sword mastery when using a Two handed version.
As for a Palus Knight. using one from 20-40 is just fine. (I did it with Dual swords way back when.) Post 40 though it depends on what your doing and your playstyle is. A Shillien knight has enough additional skills and cubics that using a two hander just might be worthwhile...I couldn't tell you though since my SK has been mothballed for awhile now, while I work on some other chars.
