The great Collector Bashtal is back! He has sent his agents to the villages of Aden and Elmore, determined to collect even more medals from adventurers across the land. In order to find as many medals as possible, Roy the Cat and Winnie the Cat are back for the Medal Collecting Event (http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2006/09/heavy_medal_1.html). Anyone who brings them the medals they seek will receive amazing prizes!

Roy the Cat will trade your Medals for a fantastic prize of your choice.
You will need to raise your collector level to be eligible for many of the items. If you wish to raise your collector's level, see Winnie the Cat. By giving her Glittering Medals, you will have the opportunity to raise your collector level by playing a special game that will test your luck.
You may also run into Louie the Cat, a wandering traveler who also collects Medals and would be more than happy to trade some of his wondrous inventory...

The medal collecting event period begins at 12:00 PM CDT (6:00 PM GMT+1) on September 19, 2006, and ends on October 3, 2006 at 10:00 AM CDT (4:00 PM GMT+1). The Event Managers will remain in the villages until October 10, 2006.

This seems to be in keeping with my theory that the events of 2005 are being repeated in 2006, but in reverse order to their popularity in the Event-Poll at the end of the year (the Valentine Event was so un-loved, it was excluded.) If so, the Dafsten event should be next. (Crossing fingers; tons of loot in that one.)
Is this event fixed this time Mistryl? Or is it just an US event again? Where eveyrone else have ZERO chans to obtain this items.

I really want to know, as I'm soo loosing it on this darn absurb unfair events. Last time I manated to pull in about 1000 points between 2 peopels, and we grinded 5-6 hours per day.
I am so happy I didn't buy my Blue stage 12 yet. And, I'm already a Fox collector since I don't think they deleted that status from the last event.
Now I need to upgrade to Wolf and save up 10K medals.

Last time I pulled in 2-3 of this per hour under EU prime time, but my friends got like 20-30 of them per hour at there prime time.
From what I understand, the event medals will not drop based on a "peak" time. But please keep in mind the more people on the server, the more you’ll be fighting for monsters, so in a way it is affected by server population.

Last event, I bought lots of medals. Last event, I didn't have 300 M in cash lying on my dwarf. You can imagine what I will pay for medals this time. Don't earth shattering price changes.

The event is more then welcome for me and my clanmates. But it is realy fact, that the medals dropping 10x better deep in the night for europeans. So possible you ment:
- The medals are dropping in fixed numbers per hour
That would explain why i get so much more medals later in the night. But on the other hand, the droprates at other daytimes are low too (early in the morning 9-12 AM GMT+1).
I am sure, that there are peak times ... but your statement i understand like follow:
many people at the server = low drops (for a single player)
low population = higher drops
But however it works in detail, good that we get the event :=)
I'm glad we're geting a event...can't wait to see what the drop rate will be like since so many people have lag issues, and d/c...specaill the zerachi bug that randomly d/c people.
I'm just a tad dissapointed they neirfed this one again...and didn't allow for ant ring to be a prize like they did last year.
Other wise looks like it's a good chance to try and get my Mejestic jwellery or some EW/A's and make some cash.

I want drafstin...that was my favourt, cause it was simmular to the PTS chaos with just massive amount of mobs around the villages and towns kill them for good rewords!

I really wish ppl would stop doing this. It is impossible for text to wrap when their are no breaks in the text. Causes scrolling for people that have their screen res set to 1024.

I believe the special boss jewelry was a prize in the last Letter Event, I dont remember it being in the Medal Event... could be wrong tho :) Prizes seem about the same for this one to me.
This is my favorite event too :) Maybe tied with the Pumpkin/Squash/next time Weed Event lol I just hope the drop rates are good :eek:

Lv12 crystal, 10k medals, you need an average drop of 59,5 per hour.
I know by fact that I never got 60 of them per hour last time, I say good luck all, you guys gonna need it.

Same problem....the entire (120+ people) clan needs to band all their medals to get ONE SA crystal....so now how do you decide who gets the Crystal? If just 1/4 of all the people need a L12 SA crystal (not too hard since we are in C5!) that is still 30 SA crystals!

at last medal event i came to something like 980 medals , farming my *** off
so if the droprate is anywhere near what it was last time u will need to band together with some friends and share the money

*sniff sniff* so sad, cry me a river :(. They added many more raid bosses that can get these crystals to stage 11/12. The raid farmers seem to be absent for the time being as well. So your only excuse is you have a horrible clan or everyone is lazy and greedy, too bad.

Sith, It's people like you who kills games...then whine when everyone leaves and wonder why.
Let's look at this realistically shall we?
1)SA's on all the weapons up to Top A are hardly overpowering nor anything terribly special. A argument could be made for SA's on S grade and boss jewelry but A grade is hardly 'uber' equipment considering the mobs/chars you fight at those levels.
2) To get a L10 SA crystal only takes some effort and is in many cases aquirable in a day or two and only takes the effort of one person/character. (Level dependant mainly) Most when sold, don't go for insane prices either. 100K per level is about the standard going rate on my server at least.
Now if the 'cost' rose at higher rate (Adena/Level) for those next two SA levels, it still should NOT cost 90M for one. (Hell, they aren't even that much on my server either.)
I'll even go one better....go to the table that shows the rewards and try to compare the 'cost' for each item on a rough adena per medal basis...I think you will find that roughly speaking the L11 Crystals are "worth" about 2.5M and the L12's only about 5M if there was a NPC who'd convert adena to medals. So 90M? Hell NO. That's ebayer pricing....
Don't you think it's unfair that 70+ and 20+ mobs drop quest items with the same rate? I mean it is so much easier for low lvl chars to kill mobs solo, also now that we have C5 they regenerate faster. Also, low level mobs are easier to kill rather than 70+ mobs.
Besides, goods that this quest offers to us differ from D-grade to A-grade. Does it make any sence at all that 30+ chars have same or higher chances to collect 3000 MEDALS and get EWA rather than me on my 70+?

Why expect getting it "on a silver plater"? I expect sitting in buy shop all the time I'm not powergrinding for those medals on my wizzy alt. And then might be able to get it. Oh, and it's 130m walue on my server >.<

So what are people doing now to get these crystals? It's not supposed to be easy and I think that people who worked their *** off to organize a raid (or several) to level a crystal only to have some other yahoo get theirs from an event, get a little upset.

And PS sometimes this raid is tenicaly impossible for some clans to do, becose A, to few players, B, msot never online at same time, C, the raid bosses is so extreamly farmed that they are neveru p for more then a few min.

Your math is wrong. The event will last for 3 weeks, all right, but MEDALS will be droped only during first 2 weeks.

Not true. My WS has a 58% failure rate crafting A grade for my personal use. I would love to get A jewelry without risk. As far as crafting A jewelry for profit, you can't make money if the crafts keep failing.

lmao, if only I was that lucky. I have a 25% success rate for A grade crafts. 18 fails 6 successes. Heck, I failed my first 7 in a row! This aint no maj jewels it was all A grade weapons except for 1 for the 7 that failed in a row...then I think my first success was tallum stockings lmao, sigh...
More events aimed at depriving us poor small unpopular clans and benefitting the HUGE alliances that spank us on a regular basis. I'll just be happy with a couple of potions and a Bsoe scroll (in case I'm about to get spanked)

If you do it right, it should be strengthening you, not depriving you.
Ok, so me and three freinds went out yesterday and ground the heck outta those mobs, came ups with a grand total of *drum roll* 343 medals and 14 glimmering ones...
Let's say I'm optimistic and count it as 400 a day.
400 x 15 days = 6000
This is not going to help ANYONE who was grinding with me. Our little group of buddies are not going to get any SA12's or anything. Sure, we'll get a scroll or two, maybe even get a mask or two! But to call that a "strengthening"? Far from. Make events so that groups who try real hard and do lots of cooperative teamwork get like some breaks, not like Mr. Huge Clan Leader, or Mr. Unmentionable Third P...tware, gets another 50 lvl12 SA crystals, or enchant scrolls, or whatever, to sell at disgustingly inflated prices to us have nots. Which, at the current rate I will NEVER be able to afford, even in C21.
As a side note, I'm not *hard-core* so I can't play like this everyday.
This event isn't so that everyone could get their SA's easily.
It will still make it easier and cheaper to get SA's, and if you're in an organized clan it's perfectly possible to outfit several members with SA's for completely free.
If you were planning to get a lvl12 SA, you will still save millions and millions from this event either by gathering a portion of medals and buying the rest, or selling the medals you gathered to outright buy your SA.
I just feel a lot of people are looking at this event the wrong way. In danger of repeating myself, I just don't think the intention was that everyone who wanted could easily get their SA for free just by normal xp'ing.
got 510 of them right now. Ben geting 45% as well at lv 70 so :P I've sure ben playing mad so far ^^ not even gonna hit the 5k one if it dosnt speed up.
But any event I should be able to buy some to get hte SA I want, and this is just the effort between 2 :P

I agree with you, if I read the following correctly I had until 08:00 a.m. Oct. 3rd Tucson time to grind for medals.
