hello everyone. first time poster and just recently join lineage 2. so far so good. so many things i need to learn. ^^ im still not sure what kinda class i would like to be and there are so many its kinda overwhelming. just wondering if u guys can help me narrow things down a bit. i definitly want to be a melee class and does alot of damage. i like feeling powerful ^^ duel wielding weapons is kool also. so any suggestions?
Welcome to L2 and the forums!

Daggers are the new hotness for damage dealing melees. If you want to use duals, try Blade Dancer or Gladiator. Others can give you more suggestions as well. What server have you decided on?
Well, if you're all about damage dealing melee there are a few classes you can do. First off you might want to choose a race that's more to your taste too. And for dual weilding, are you talking with swords...are are you going to include fist users too?

Blade dancer = dd/buffer class. They wield 2 swords and are of the dark elf race. Not heavy dd's, but they contribute.

Gladiator = dd class. They wield 2 swords and are of the human race. They can deal out heavy damage, but they aren't the top dealer of damage. Archers and mages and a few other melee that are dualwields can out damage them.

Tyrant = DD class. They wield to handheld fist style weapons. They are of the orc race. They are the only class that get fist masteries and abilities. They are a very tough class to play.

I've not played any of these particular classes first hand myself and I'm sure players of these respective classes can give you better information. But from what I gather, your best choice for your intended playstyle is gladiator. A suggestion that most players will throw out to you is to try all listed classes and make the choice for yourself.
i joined in gustin server since it was the first one on the list. lol it has a light load of players. kinda lonely in the begining areas so i think i might head over to one of the medium/heavy servers maybe ill see some lower lvl players
There arent many players in the newbies areas on any server but Franz, that was just launched on the 6th this month. -And its super crowded in the newbie towns and areas there.
I wouldn't count on that. The reason why there's so few players in the lower levels is that there's so few new players coming to L2. Most players in those zones are either veteran rerolls or bots. Though, I do think Gustin is one of the lower populated servers anyways...can't say for sure though.
sounds like a plan i think ill lvl either blade dancer or gladiator. sound like fun. i wouldnt mind tryant either but i my friend is usually picks that sorta job. ^^ ill also try that franz server. thanks for the suggestions everyone
"Know Thyself"

In other words, know what you enjoy playing and have a character consistant with that in order to maintain your long term pleasure in the game.

Do you fantasize of yourself as a football lineman, strong and silent? Be an orc.

Do you like to steal lunch money from underclassmen and tease them until they cry? Be a dagger or a wiz.

Do you get happiness from making others happy? Be a buffer or healer?

Do you like being rich? Be a dwarf.
Welcome to Lineage II!
as a vet to magic casters on many online games, i can tell you for certain that you will NOT like playing melee when youre over lvl 40.

there are NO uber duals of death as are found in all sorts of other games.

what i would reccomend tho is a hybrid caster/melee class commonly referred to as SwordSinger, or BladeDancer, or Summoner.

what these classes do is act like a melee class using either two swords or a sword and shield. the swordsinger focuses his knowledge on defence buffing whereas the bladedancer appeals to the attack buff side of the equation.

both are highly underappreciated and uncommonly played by many players. mainly for the reason that most will just "pick the uber class and win".

make yourself at least two characters on your server of choice so that you can get a feel for one class and switch for a change of pace whenever you like.

the summoner is a topic all its own; they summon creatures of particularly strong power and dish out damge through it. each summoner class has 3 types of summons: cubics, fighting servitors, and magic servitors. higher end summoners have buffing servitors but thats beside the point. you arent there yet ;)

cubics are little blobs of light that activate their magic when you get hit or you make a critical hit on your target.

they have various uses ranging from healing to nuking and multiple cubics can be summoned beginning at level 56.

the reason i call summoners a melee/nuker hybrid class is because most summoners who play all by themselves will use the fighting servitor as opposed to the magic servitor (which can do area-of-effect damage but at a much greater cost) while the summoner player himself will most often (after the 50's levels) use melee weapons because the magic nukes learned from levels 40 and under (which after that cannot be advanced) become of little use.

i say most summoners do this, but not all do. occasionally you can still find a summoner AOEing himself up. much more skill and expertise is required for this tho.

summoners arent frequently played, so you may have some rough times, but i GUARANTEE this one fact: you will ALWAYS be welcome at a raid.

Now I want to level a summoner O.o.
i thinks thats what ill do. ill lvl a blade dancer and a summoner on the same server. ^^ thanks for the info guys its greatly apreciated
a word of caution, future bladedancer ...

a swordsinger is much harder to find. please compare the skill trees of these two classes to better understand how you would be far better off as a swordsinger versus bladedancer.

better yet, let me do that ...

Swordsinger:
mdef self buff, mdef passives, single sword mastery (u can use shield and have ecxellent defences).

songs:
warding - increases Mdef
invocation - resistance to dark attacks (Dark elf Spellhowller and necros cast dark attacks)
wind - increases runspeed
hunter - increases critical rate (UBER skill, all SWS get asked to cast this and warding among others in pvp battles)
life - increases hp regeneration speed. stacks with regen magics.
earth - increases Pdef (pretty drastically too)
water - increases evasion
flame guard - resist fire attacks (duh)
vitality - increases max HP
storm guard - resist wind attacks. another resistance useful against nukers
vengeance - damage shield

all those are in the order that you learn them beginning at level 40.

Bladedancer
Mdef passives, 4 attack magic skills - freezing strike, drain health, sting (bleed), poison; 2 debuffs - Hex and power break;

dances include:
Fire - amplifies critical damage
Light - adds sacred damage to your attacks (hurts monsters with sacred weakness more than those without it)
Inspiration - increases accuracy
Mystic - increases matk
concentration - increases cast speed and decreases rate of magic being interrupted.
warrior - increases patk
fury - increases attack speed
Poison dance - aoe poisons (attacks aoe style)
Earth guard - resist damage by earth attacks
protection - resist fall damage
aqua guard - resist water damage
vampire - just like vampiric rage.

dances are listed in the order learned beginning at level 40.

every good pvp group or raid group shuld have at least 1 of each BD and SWS.
It sounds like the OP wants a higher damage character. Remember the SwS has the lowest strength of the fighters and the BD has the highest; strength is directly responsible for damage. Exacerbating the difference in damage done, the weapon masteries the SwS gets are the same masteries tanks get (low patk) while the BD gets the same dual sword masteries of a glad (better patk).

A benefit the SwS gets is they can sing with any weapon (so they can use a bow easier - only masteries for sword/blunt though) while the BD needs dual swords to dance.
But sws crits a lot (especially with hunter ofc) so they do decent damage with the right weapon - focus sword or focus duals. Ive had a much lower level sws pound on me with focus duals, and ****, that does hurt. But I *were* wearing robes, to my defence :p
