Summoners good pvp?

Are summoners good in pvp? and another thing i was thinking of going mystic because..i just like wizards alot and im abit worried about the cast times will it get me killed? should i go necro? i really want to go DE though what are the best for DEs?
Spellhowlers. Do not worry about casting times, later you can get casting speed boosting armor sets and weapons with Acumen which e\increases cast speed even more. Usually it on't get you killed if you are careful.
Spellhowlers do not have summons and paralyze, but get overhit spell (you'll find later what it is good for) and other attacks besides Dark magic, they have wind spells.
I love my spellhowler. If I had to do it all over again, I would go spellhowler.

When lineage 3 comes out, if they have spellhowlers then I will seriously consider going spellhowler. large swaths of damage. You are essentially a big slow cannon. What's not to love.

And yes, there are many things that will help you cast faster. You are not going to outcast a sorceror or a spellsinger but that's not what you do. You create large swaths of damage.

And i will also repeat... what's not to love? :p
Its worth mentioning that spellhowlers can actually get very nice casting speed. Of course not as fast as an sps, but still very nice :)
With the right robes and tattoos.

If you're thnking of going summoner, keep in mind that other people can see the HP of your summon and by seeing it they can estimate your level (by the colour, just like mobs). Its a bit of a downfall in pvp, but not totally crippling.
completely buffed summons are even better than any tank or nuker in pvp. HUGE damage, and they still use SS!!!!

the reason summons WERE kings of the hill was because they could be UNsommoned in the heat of battle. this made it easy to train people without the need to be anywhere near the mobs or the ... players ... and a summon was nearly too hard to kill at one point. they also look WAY cool on the DE.

cubics are important (the other summons) for any group function. they also look way wierd.
Spudnik, you have it pretty wrong.

1.) Fully buffed, servitors fall behind because their low base stats for crits, attack speed and cast speed don't rise so amazingly with stacking buffs.

2.) Training has nothing to do with PvP, really.

3.) Self-buffed, no nuker can hope to stand against a summoner. I'm not sure about fully buffed with sleep nerfed, that was the biggest problem summoners had against nukers.

4.) In group PvP, for obvious reasons, summoners suck. ¬_¬;
well i dont think so maline, not to argue with an expert summoner as yourself, but i have a lowbie summoner and his soulless does a great job tanking and DD with just my SE buffs and some summoner buffs. i let the SE heal :) LOL

and you are right about nukers not standing against summoners. in the arena i took on a same lvl SH and won with my PS. probly i fought a noob tho. (and i cheated i had SE buffs on the summon LOL)

but i dont see how in group pvp summoners suck :( i havent experienced it really, please elaborate on why they do.
Ok, i'm not a newbie summoner and i also disagree. Servitors lack crits in pvp but have an excellent raw damage. Fully buffed they do have decent stats and just out randomly hunting a summoner is in a far better position than almost any class. The issue is that you need to know what buffs matter on a summon. Crit buffs are much less important than cast speed or raw damage. BtB is worth 10 times as much as focus but is rarely considered a necessary buff for spur of the moment encounters.

Mass pvp is an excellent showcase for summoners. Essentially you are two targets which can move either independently or in concert. Archers and daggers in particular are easy prey, especially with the addition of windshackle to PS and ES. Outside of that they have immense survivability. TP gives you an amazing survival rate and if you are using your cheap summon then you have basically a free full HP DD whenever you need one. In the Swarming of mass pvp it is often possible to resummon during combat and even to hold back and use your pet as a solo fighter.

Edit: Also if you are group savy then the party summons, especially nightshade, make for an excellent pvp pet.
summoners are good at pvp at 78, yes, when you have mage/warrior bane and Prophecy for Servitor.

uh, archer group vs archer group, the one with cat queen buff is going to crit so much harder and more often...

especially stacked with ant, baium, focus drac bows.... 500 crit rate.
It's not a real summoner if it's using the queen or seraphim. <disgruntled face>

Servitor "raw damage" is solid, but it's nowhere near what just about any actual DD can deliver in my experience of having been beaten on by both. Archers, daggers, BDs, orcs, heck, even SKs hit harder than a summoner when buffed properly, because crits just come so frequently on anyone else.

As for mass PvP as opposed to pure gropu PvP - I guess you could get something done without dying, but that's not because the class is so amazing.
It is a sad day when a Dwarf beats a summoner (higher level than him also). All it took was Erase from his 2 boxed prophet. :*(

!WTB all erase books and destroy
hehe *gets a horrid, wicked gleam in her eye*

I'll find em for ya...
Don't worry... he can beat me as well :-( Beware of the dwarfs :)

I've beaten even leveled summoners in 1v1 PVP, all it takes is LUCK. So far I've had an 50/50 % chans beating my PS friend, yeah same lv.

Basicly how you do it, is stun the summoner, and kill the summon, if your unlucky you don't chainstun the summoner and well then you lose, if your lucky you chainstun the summoner and by the time the summon is dead, the summoner have no chans to resummon or win.

But then again it's just luck, if stun hits or not.

It's not a real summoner if it's using the queen or seraphim.

eh? Could you explain this remark? I don't quite follow you on this.
i believe maline is saying you arent soloing with the seraphim or cat queen because they are support summons. you would be in a party probably. eg, you arent playing the L2 role of a summoner, youre just assisting like every other buffer.
yea well, summon buffs are still pretty uber in mass pvp.

like I said earlier, summoners are very good at solo pvp at 78. overenchant your pvp summon a bit. use your debuffs (mage/warrior bane are freaking uber), you get prophecy for summon... a warlock is a mages worst nightmare, just as an ES is an archers worst nightmare at 78.
Hmmm.....Not sure if I buy that. I made a lvl 75 Warlock on the PTS. I seem to recall that Queens P atk was pretty much the same as Kai's or Mew's. and since she only takes 5% of my XP instead of 10, I would think she was a good choice even solo. But I don't really know for sure. I will let you know when I get my Bartz Warlock to 56. or my Phantom Summoner with Nightshade. I'm still new at the Summoner class. These are the first ones that I've made. I made them after I used them on the PTS (yes I made a 75 PS too) and I thought they were rocking toons to play, even if they are bit expensive.

My level 60 summons Kai has about 1000 patk with might 1 and Queen has about 350.

I really doubt she gets stronger towards level 75.

=^.^=

Plus Kai is the fastest cat you have witha top run speed in C5 of 232 (down from 242 in C4)

My mistake. You are correct. I was confusing Queen with Mew from my memory on the PTS. I do that sometimes. and they really don't look anything alike, so please don't ask how I confused them. Probably my advanced age.

Yes, Kai is really quick!
Summons:

HP: 3rd < 1st/2nd < 4th
Speed: 1st/2nd < 4th < 3rd
PAtk: 4th < 1st/2nd < 3rd
EXP retained: 2nd < 1st < 3rd < 4th
Nightshade has a patk roughtly 1/3 shadow and my warlock roommate has teh same situation with queen. I think even enchanted the 5% doesn't break 800 buffed.
The only good reason to enchant fourth servitors is the land rate of the buff cure for warlocks and ES (and with what warlocks can cure, that pretty much makes it only the seraphim). Their stats increase only marginally.
Crit damage and duration also increas with cat, not sure about seraphim. Also enhances their defense against erase which is proimarily a level check.
According to L2P, the relevant buffs all stay at 35% even when enchanted.

I guess Erase check is relevant, but which healer gets close enough to a Seraphim/Queen to Erase? :p
i'm just going acording to our alliances arcana lord. Healers get close enough to erase any time you are in pvp. I've only had erase work on me once out of a few times having it tried but it's nasty when it does and having a high level servitor is definately worth it.
o_O; Well, you don't use Queen/Sera, right? It's not like they move into the fight to assist - the buffs and cures have more range than an archer, add to that that the queen/sera should be BEHIND your group, not in it, I don't see why a healer would want to rush past it to get at them.
