Ok - help on this plz...
My friend and I have a hatchling each.
He has a Wind, I have a Star.
When we went out the other day to lvl them, his was at lvl 34 to start, mine was at 43. He got his up to 44 while mine was still at 43 and change....
So I ask the L2 community for help in this.
Is it that I have a hatchling (Star) that lvls slower then the Wind that my friend has or am I missing something.
Info: Neither he nor I attacked the mobs during this time. We let them attack them....
We even traded hatchlings for a time and the same result - his lvd faster then mine....
Hatchling leveling is like a wolf...the XP they get is directly proportional to the damage they do.
Wind hatch is the 'Fighter'. Use of 'Wild Stun' and it's normal attack does damage and thus gives it XP.
Star Hatch is now the 'Mage'. If your not using it's "Nukes" and just having it attack, it's damage will be low...and thus also it's XP. (AKA - Use it's special attacks as much as possible.)
PS - Try to at least have the 1M hatchling gear, it's good if you can get better, but lower gear is a bit....lacking.
(Disclaimer: I do not have a Star at this time, but have tried to keep up to date on them. My current hatchlings are Wind Types.)

seems it was a glitch too - a few mins ago his pc took a lag spike it seemed and it was back to the 34 lvl with comparable xp....must have been a bug....dammit!!!
You also gotta realize that Star Hatchlings take by far the longest out of all 3 types to level up. That was always the case.
Now that Stars are mage hatchlings, you can kind of beat the system by powerleveling your Hatchling. Get a Prophet or an SE, Root the mobs and let your Star kill them all by itself. So while your and the SE/PP's xp will be 0, your Star will rack it all in.
Another thing, the fasted leveling Hatchling is Twilight, for some reason the amount of XP they need to get to 55 is not the same as the other 2 types, but at the same time, Twilight has 0 skills, and with out a weapon, it's P.atk is a whooping 1.
Another thing, Star hatch eats the most food, while Twilight eats the least food overtime.
You can even use your hatch or wolfie as farming partner if you are too high level, because pet does most damage to monster. For example I got insane amounts of amulets from fetters ...
