Does anyone have any information as to whether this will happen? I love the originals (it's what got me into these style of games) and I have seen loads of rumours on the Internet but nothing concrete. I've seen a post recently linking Blizzard having an event to introduce of a new section of WoW and it also being the platform for an introduction of Diablo 3. Anyone know if this is true?
I dont know, I have always heard its a rumor, but one can hope. I would play it when it comes out, just because i grew up on 1 and 2. Hopefully it will be confirmed/denied eventually.
I loved Diablo II (missed out on the first one) and would LOVE it if they made III, but with Blizzard making millions off WoW I can't see them developing anything else other than expansion packs for the foreseeable future.
AFAIK they even had Starcraft Ghost developed out of house (though that didn't work out), so I hope they don't do the same with Diablo III if it is announced.
Hellgate London (http://www.hellgatelondon.com/) is looking like a modern-day Diablo (developed by ex-Blizzard), although I'm sure about the first person perspective.

Yeah try Titan's Quest if you liked Diablo II.... its a Diablo 2 clone but better !!!! and no more bying those stupid scrolls back to town ! its free this time.
- hellgate london is basically a 3rd person view, like Max Payne lets say and its been developed by Bill Roper - who was the "mind" behind Diablo2 (and if I remember well other Blizz cult games, MAYBE WC RTS too)
- Titan Quest is the most enjoyable D2 clone ive found yet :) every Diablo fan should try it :) unfortunately the multiplayer is worst than the one of D2 (and thinking about the time that passed since the original that is AWFUL....)
