I wouldn't be surprised if the "new clan changes" win out overall.

Everything else is just same old same old but with a different graphic (except for shuttgart which is the same graphic).

NOW let's start the "lively" discussion :p

Oh, I believe you. But as you must know... "Timing is Everything". :D
Can we have an option for none? as for me there was 0 things intresting in this patch, nothing affected me overall. No new hunting spots for my lv's, fishing just got nerfed, only really new monsters in the new hunting spots, No real skill changes, Clan system is just a pain. And that basicly sums it down.

You know, I have to say, that's not a bad idea. I put my answer but initially I wanted to find the "none of the above". Since there wasn't one I put what I thought was the most significant change.
Whats your the feature you hate the least then. This is about which feature you like rather than the rest, it doesn't have to do with whether or not it effected you.
I voted new CH's, since our clan got hold of one. But otherwise, can't say I'm overly enthused about c5 just yet. Heh.
The clan reputation system is really cool as it gives you a reason to war, a reason to get castles, a reason to win the festivals and a reason to win the olympiad. It's neat to work towards a common goal that benefits the whole clan.

The buff herbs were really nice but getting matk as a fighter and vice versa was kinda annoying. I think it would be better to merge the two buff herbs into one.

A little disappointed that the same ol' neglects are still in there. Forcelogging is still a major issue, aoe classes can't go red because then we can't use specials to defend ourselves, botters remain unchanged, and class balance doesn't conform entirely to the C5 "fighter > supportive mage > offensive mage" diagram.
Hello,

The Good:
Clan system is fun, and the choas sword rules. The new hunting areas are good, the new mobs/raid bosses are nice.

The Bad
*disclaimer* I play a warlock.

The changes made to affect true summoners was a complete kick in the paints to summoners!
1. Being able to see a summon's HP and level like a mob was the worst!
2. Erase/Betray/Fear skills are the second worst!
3. PVP damage reduction to our summons! Tell any other class (that has more then 5 people playing the class) they are getting a PvP damage reduction and you will have a revolt!
4. Not able to unsummon our summons at will. (see point 2)
5. C5 has still not allowed us to use pots/clanhall/overlord buffs! FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure more summoners might chime in, but that is all I can think of in my rage prone state.

Thank you

No dorf skills!!!
And where are / what are the economic improvements?
I have yet to see any improvements for my class....(WS).
That said, I think the clan system is the best improvement thus far.

Peace
I voted "New skills and changes to existing skills" although I almost went with the night fishing one. ^^

Misc comments: Please make it easier for lowbie characters to access the new areas designed for their levels. Schuttgart is kind of a pain to get to unless you are a dwarf or an orc. There could be many more quests in Schuttgart to increase traffic there as well.

I haven't experienced much else of the new C5 changes yet (started over on Franz but haven't completely abandoned my gladiator on Sieghardt), but I will keep ya posted. :D

You forgot to add:

The Ugly

The nerf on Sleep and Sleeping Cloud, which effected every single class in the game bar none. This nerf removed most of the available crowd control from the game, and all classes are effected, not just the ones that have/had the skill. (I say "had" because I have removed this skill from all short cut bars and do not even waste the SP to pick up this skill on my re-roll alts)

p.s.
I also have a Warlock and I agree with all your points 1-5. By the way add to point five the Summoner's problem with being to do the sin eater quest, or not being able to have a pet. In keeping with "The Ugly" above, my Warlock, my SE and my son's Phantom Summoner all died last night in Branded because of "The Ugly"
The sleep change certainly "affected" all classes but hardly a nerf to everyone. It was a boost to other CC classes such as tanks and WL's. I can thunderstorm in a party and not get kicked out now.
Thats right, alomst forgot about the sin eater quest!

Summoners can't do the quest. My main weapon is my pet, if I have that out I can't have out the sin eater!

I agree with you on the sleep skill, when I was a young warlock I was able to use my sleep to control mobs up to level 50 or so with only a level 9 sleep, it worked well. In the higher levels, at least for warlock I stopped using it as it would fail more then it landed.

Also, why does a warlock get a windstrike cubic? One of our new skills is weakness to fire, the only time I would use it would be if I am in a group, and even then how many groups are sorc mage heavy! Give us a FireStrike cubic, now that would make more sense!

C5 gets no love in my book, and I will continue to point out all the bad things that NCsoft did to our class in C5!

Take care

aka GotPie.
hmm. let's address every point here.

1. Increased level cap

Useless. This just makes people not want to release in pvp. if you are 79 you will lose 12-14% on death if you delevel. at 80 more like 20-25% Gives no bonus to skill enchanting success rate. No skills to learn.

2. Changes and additions to the Clan system

this is DEFINATELY the best. omg. clan skills could be slightly better I think, clan vitality gave my archmage 130 more HP... maybe add higher levels of all the clan skills and make them affect more ranks.

3. New skills and changes to existing skills

Good and bad. sleep nerf is too much, it's useless even in pve. gg on that... stacked resists are too good vs mages, while there is no way to stack resists for vs physical attacks.

4. New hunting areas in Rune and Schuttgart

Hmm.. haven't tried em out. but they must be good for someone... weather is fps killer.

5. New castles and clan halls

Combined with new clan system, any clan who is anyone will have an a-grade CH now.

6. New quests

Make more clan quests for points.

7. New monsters

uh.... the new places like MoS and pagan temple are nice for good groups. prophets need unholy weapon buff!

8. Night fishing

fishing is relegated to the bots. That crap is impossible to do lol. I haven't ever caught a single fish.
I like the user interface changes since C3. As an occasional player I don't use most of the new features since C3 because I don't spend enough time in game to reach the appropriate level and gain the needed money resources.

fishing is relegated to the bots.

Totally agree.

That crap is impossible to do lol. I haven't ever caught a single fish.

I did but it was purely accidental, I assure you.

Its actually really easy once u understand how to do it. When it pulls u click one button, when it doesnt u click another :)

you lie.
Can you start a poll on LEAST favorite changes...

I can understand changing the Raid Bosses to make them harder - but after almost 75 levels of grinding I am coming to the conclusion that I may not be able to do the subclass quest. My clan is not strong enough to do the raid bosses alone and many of my in-game friends have lost all interest in the RBs associated with the subclass quest because they are so much more difficult to take down now.

Please change the subclass quest to provide an alternate path, maybe use the RB in the Rift instead... Or eliminate the A weapon quest from the subclass quest requirements.

raid bosses are stille extremely easy. You can kill any raid boss including longhorn with 1 party or even 1 person.

The classes for the one party have just changed. that's all.

Group raid bosses are slightly more difficult. you might need 2 parties for those. Especially the ones with healers (unless you do a trick.)

The fish's hp bar only moves when the countdown timer updates. If the timer counts a tick and the hp bar doesn't go up, it's not pulling.

Considering that you have to wait for pump/reel recharge, it's easy to see if the fish's behaviour changes while waiting.

At least you can get a party! My SpS hasn't been invited to a party since C5 went live.

L O L

please do longhorn solo or with only 9 people and by 9 people i mean no out of party buffers either.

lol screenshot it or didnt happen lol
Zariche?
we really need a "none of the above" option
i picked the new clan system but honestly i might as well have picked "increased lvl cap" for how much i like the new features
Guess i'm a 'tweener' and echo nameless.
Not a fan of rb changes, don't have much interest yet in new hunting areas, couldn't care less about clan uberness....you get the point.
I just wanna play L2. I'll adapt to whatever you throw into a great game!
Honestly, part of me wants to shout "leave the freakin' game alone"! and part of me wants you all to keep developing new stuff.
I'll never hold zeriche. I'll probably never siege at this rate. I'll sure never be involved with castle management. I won't raid antharas or whoever.
I wanna level toons and interact with in-game friends and the architecture you have already allows that.
Nerfing new playes imo is a bad idea (like with porting fee increases and RB changes) and I generally think ubers should be shafted more than noobs since all game advantages that count are focused on them already.
Overall you didn't kill the game with C5. I'm not sure it's improved per se from the vantage point of a newer player.
Just my thoughts.
Can we have a "What's your least favorite addition to L2 in C5" poll? I could come up with way more for that than for this.

At least you can get a party! My SpS hasn't been invited to a party since C5 went live.

Blame it on your's clan.. Our SpS's are still invited, when they whant to join. And aoe sleep is still a lifesaver..

For mycelf, I cant realy decide. I like my new skills (chants and sleep), dont like drain nerf, but it's balanced out by instant pots, oh I do like them. I see great benefits of new clan system (academy mainly).
I'm overal quite unimpressed by C5.

And more so when you see what Korea got.

They've received several non gifts features that we've requested since prelude or so.
And we didn't.
Go figure.
I chose the new skills, because I'm happy I have more options now. And they are interesting skills too.

My complaint is that there should have been some sort of SP bonus given or at least somehow figuring out a quest or something to upgrade the skills to your level. Trying to upgrade a level 58 skill to level 74 is a Herculean task. Having 7 new skills and needing almost 1 million SP for each upgrade on them is a hardship, if you ask me, and takes away from the joy of the game, since I can't perform the skills I need condusive to my level. And I'm not sure how many upgrades I need for each one... since the skills haven't been updated on the website.

I whined about having to farm the spellbooks... but in the end it was fun and now I know the Frozen Labyrinth like the back of my hand :)
I'm also not sure if we were given back the SP from the skills we lost. One of my warlord's skills were replaced with a new one, and I had to learn it over again. Felt a bit like a waste.
Okay, now I'm even more depressed about the state of SP. I just found out the skills lists were updated. I have 8 new skills, not 7, and 6 of them are level 10 and 2 of them are level 5 for a 74 bishop. After level 3, each level costs me 880,000 SP. OMG. When will i get enuf SP to bring them up to snuff; will I have to be level 80???? And this is right at the time when I'm reaching the state to subclass. Yes, this is my biggest complaint about the C5 patch.
add "Zariche" to the list of options, but what it would really mean is "none of the above" on future posts. as in "ill tell you what i thought about it..." *pulls out Zariche*. we would know what it means, they would know what it means, but the people in-between wouldnt have a clue.

Can we have an option for none? as for me there was 0 things intresting in this patch, nothing affected me overall. My highest level char is 52, i have others between 35 and 46..... all of them got nerfed in one way or another. The new hunting grounds are unplayable due to the gfx lag, and the new clan system is complicated and out-of-reach for small clans and people who only want to be in small clans. Raid bosses are now a thing of the past. I only did them for fun.

So i agree, please have a pole entitled "things youn hate least about C5"

The new hunting grounds are unplayable due to the gfx lag

Do you have weather effects on? I'm on a pretty mediocre system and the new areas weren't any more heavy than the rest.
I cant believe only 2 people have voted for new quests and i was one of them.

Does no one like doing quests in this game or something?

It would be nice to see more mods done to the UI though, more Hot bars able to be open at once, able to fine tune macors alot easier and alot more precise. Also a fix for target closest attackable NPC wouldnt hurt ethier....

Does no one like doing quests in this game or something?

I hate the quests in this game. I really, really, really, hate the quests. Which is a shame because there is some very rich story telling (at times) that goes on in some of the quests.

I hate the running around all over the world, back and forth, I hate going to several redundant npc's in order to complete a quest (sometimes being sent across the room just to finish a quest), I hate not knowing what the quest reward is since I have done several quests in the past where I said afterwards "that's it!?" (yes I suppose I could go to stratics and find out what the reward is but I shouldn't have to).

I hate quests where you gather all these items and then have a % chance of getting your reward, only to fail and have to do it all over again. I hate the teeny, tiny writing and spacing of the text. My eyes tend to gloss over the text in an effort to find the next line. I hate having to pull down the text (using the side srolling bar) "just" so I can read one more line or get the link that closes the box. Here's a thought: if there is just a "little bit" more text why don't they just make the quest window a little larger.

Glad you like them though. More power to you. :D

Ditto. The *only* time I do quests anymore is if (1) I need to do them or (2) I'm hunting in that area anyway.

Tritto. I'm even often reluctant on the former.
I would do more quests if it was possible to go "hey, do these mobs have a quest to them?". Very often I find myself having xp'ed in an area for like 3 weeks, then someone comes along and goes "wow you must have a lot of warehouse keeper tokens!!".
"How do I get those?.."
good thing in C5 : A grade recipes spoils/drops

bad thing in C5 : useless nerf of good skills

and u forget to add "real" skills for dorf's again
My favorite feature is the attention given to clans, though I think it could be refined a little so the smaller clans have their own (smaller) set of benefits to strive for.

The new areas and monsters did not disappoint either, for me a lot of the appeal of this game is the visual experience.

The changes made to Raid Bosses= no me gusta (http://www.cs.huji.ac.il/~intro2cs/img/simpsons/BumblebeeMan.gif).

Let you know what I think of Chronicle 5?

Mistryl, It's pretty obvious by now that the chief has left the camp. All that is left is a bunch of indians passing the pipe in a big circle. Oh, sure there are a few new feathers in the headdress but the rain dance still circles the fire in the same direction without making the ground any wetter.

And that about covers it all....
blah blah blah

The nerf on sleep killed me more than enough times in PVE to piss me off at C5 entirely.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Great analogy.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHA.
OK, where do i begin? well 1st lets start by saying i have been a loyal NCSOFT customer for about 6 years now. form a con mage on Lineage the bloodpledge to closed beta for L2 and through all 5 chronicles. that said lets get into the poll at hand ... to me the new towns and monster show a real lack of creativity. most of the new ones look exactally the same as the monsters in 2+ other locations in the game. one of the new towns is a cut and pasted version of goddard and when i visited to see it i was filled with utter disappointment.

2nd: the level cap increase was a good idea... but once again no creativity.. what reason do i have to try to increase my level from 78 - 80 when the 2 highest levels dont even get skills?

3rd: and possibly most important and game altering change of C5.. the skills.. overall, as of what i have seen, most skill changes/additions were a good balancing to the game. tanks got root, wich gives them a better chance in pvp v/s someone trying to kite them. clarity was a spectactular addition to an EE, they might can even get a party now. SE's really got nothing at all to help them in any way. Prophets got a couple greater buffs that again make them usefull in a party (of course the bless body and soul buffs were always nice). orc mages got a couple nice additions to their arsenal. and archers have always been a good class to play and still are. ok now to the bad ones o.0.. TH's got ANOTHER stab [censored]... they have always seemed to me to be ncsoft's favorite but holy cow. now we have a class with 1 hit capability {rare but it happens}, tanks cp is useless against them... bluff = stun and turn your back o.0 backstab skips cp and hits hp directly dash nullifies any speed debuff... basically, they hit like nukers with 40 con lmao.. tff and Eva help you if they have mortal strike {might mortal} Why didn't you guys just put an S on their chest and call it a day?
now to the sleep nerf  i agree that in pvp as a non sleeper v/s say an sps, the sleep, nuke, sleep, nuke pattern was annoying. i actually have a 77 mystic muse {sps} i pvp'd with sleep when i had it but now like i read in other posts i have removed it from my hot bar. I am surprisingly still able to hold my own in pvp 1:1 {actually i win more then not} but that is only because i have my vortexs. i cant even imagine trying to pvp as a 40 - 75 sps now that cancel is garbage and if you try to sleep you will most likely be dead before you cast it. the more annoying and deadly aspect of this nerf to me (only because i have vortexs, keep that in mind) my hunting areas and partys have had to change drastically. Forge of gods is not an option as well as any highly monster populated areas, because if i dont aoe sleep the tank is in big trouble (like 10-20 mobs at a time when they call for help ect) and if i do and it misses.. they aggro me, and with nada con it doesnt take 20 to kill me  maybe you guys could have made sleep have a lasting effect in pvp similar to aura flare or something. ok ill quit ranting on sleep sorry about that but the poor lower level sps's are in big trouble till 3rd class change.

the best and most interesting addition was the new clan system. more benefits to being clanned ect even though this chronicle, in my oppinion, was by far ncsoft's worst to date, nice job on the clan updates :D

Summary: This chronicle and possibly your "creative" design team didnt show me much CREATIVITY. I am very dissapointed and hope to see you guys maybe get some new ideas and graphic artists.. well maybe that was a little harsh, sorry for that but maybe an addition rather then a cutback on your staff would be a good idea

Very good.
I LOLed at the comment made about the chief. Good one there.

Anyway...

Increased level cap:
Why? I guess in my case I will have to have a new lvl-cap (IF I ever get there) as I am not likely to be able sub anyway. Hell 3rd class change may never happen.

Changes and additions to the Clan system:
Keep it as it is. I see no room for improvement. I rather see stuff disappeard from it. Like clan skills. Yes clanskills and why? Well with all those skills the live buffer/healer gets more redundent as it becomes more and more possible to hunt solo (even if it is just for 20min).

New Skills and changes to existing skills:
I choose this 1 as there is no other choose I would rather pick and the one I would pick is not there (the one about "Non of the above"). Skills still need to be reviewed by LIVE acting those skills. Why "LIVE" in that sentence? I have the feeling the devs change skills on statics rather then what happens ingame which are like making changes bases on labetory tests compaired to practical tests. I can tell you they can vary greatly.

New hunting areas in Rune and Schuttgart:
I do not see why places should be added as most areas I have seen are copies to others in differant places. Apart from that the places are exspensive to get to with the new port-system and newbies do not benefit from those areas as they are out of the way. If any hunting places would be made I would love to see places where I as a buffer/healer hybrid maight be able to have an edge to get the boxed buffer/healer out of the corner it is now.

New Castles and Clan Halls:

New quests:
Quests have allways been the last thing I like to do. Class-quests being the least favorite. IF the quest became less FedEx in nature and if the rewards are stated I would be more inclined to try them out. Any random result at the end of any quest is to me a big no-no ever.

New monster:
I like to see new monsters just to be able to think I am a differant part of the world of Aden. To many clones out there.

Night fishing:
I never fish. Never attracked me and I don't like the fact that some of the recipes are clan-hall only. In my view that's just utherly strange. I do not see a pond in a clanhall. So the recipes are not "fished" inside the clanhall.
Still with the sleep rant...and every nonsps/sorc is thanking god it was finally done. Let's do a poll of "who likes the sleep nerf." I'd love for all the sleep whiners to shut it when a 70% majority says YAY.

I understand it that the clan skills are passive, not a "buff" you use.

i was actually trying not to rant.. like i said i am fine without it and i have other high lev toons that are surely appreciative of the nerf. i was trying to imagine life as an sps without sleep at a lower level. like i previously mentioned (those who arent just exstatic they can own sps's now and dont imediatly get on the defenseive will understand) the pve aspect/impact is extremely dramatic. a residual effect in pvp similar to the lasting aura flare effect would have been perfect.... still nerf them pvp but leave the "crowd control" in place. good luck going to the forge of gods with NO crowd control lol
I'm a summoner. NCSoft made it plain that they did not want my opinion of C5.
Increased level cap:
I'm sure they'll add skills later, for now..meh

Changes and additions to the Clan system:
I htink this was one of the better improvements. Although I think it could have been handled differently. I think it adds a lot of drive and purpose and benefit for clans.

New Skills and changes to existing skills:
I appreciate the gesture. I'm glad to see them trying to balance the classes. But again I think theri execution is severly lacking. As is usually the case NC didn't look at each class individualy, and balance them accordingly, they lumped classes that are worlds apart (as far as skills and stats go) togeather, and did a blanket nerf/buff. Helping those that didn't need it, and hurting those who needed a boost. Summoners for example. I feel horrible for them. And I think they got a mega nerf just because of Necro. And on a personal level, most of my skills got doubled in mp usage. So I'm just overall not too pleased with the heavy handed rebalancing.

New hunting areas in Rune and Schuttgart:
New areas are always nice, I haven't been able to really enjoy any of them, but they look good.

New Castles and Clan Halls:
I think we need lots more clan halls. I know L2 loves to make everything super hard to achieve, and cost billions of adena, but I think even if they are mostly low lvl, every decently sized clan should have a home. Even if it is just a home, and doesn't have any features (buffs, items, etc). Ive always wanted those random houses you see out in the fields to be buyable :)

New quests:
I REALLY want to like quests, I REALLY do. I do any that are within my lvl. I pray one day I will do one that is worthwhile, or enjoyable. But 98% of quests are hours of pain, for laughable (or cryable) rewards, if you were even lucky enough to get a reward. Doing quests 2 or 3 times to have a slim chance of even getting something, and a slimmer chance that its even something you want, is intolerable. We put up with enough gambles as it is.

New monster:
the ones that are new are nice

Night fishing:
I fish a LOT. But only because I make good money from it. I don't think i'd vote for it being a great addition or anything. And common craft recipes from CH. >:( I hate that more than anything. make them questable.

My favorite change is actually Zariche. Because for once NC added something that is content for the sake of content. Something fun for fun sake. Something thats not grind, or politics, or buisness as usually, or a money sink, etc.

stacked resists are too good vs mages, while there is no way to stack resists for vs physical attacks.

Are you playing on retail like rest of the people here? Last time I checked you could have greater shield, shield, song of earth, PoF/CoV, advanced block, bless shield and carry shield on mystic class with no penalties at all. I don't know what on earth else do you want, UD, vengenace, shield fortress, aegis and heavy armor masteries for a mage?
not to mention you get to +CON scott free. Not that its extra defense, but sure helps you take extra damage, without any negative effect.
