Heavy armors Vs light armors

Was just wondering the disadvantage of heavy armor on a noob archer. Would Power Shot take longer to cast? What else? As i get light armor mastery, i was wondering if it comes close to heavy armors.
You evade less.

In the case of an orc tyrant/monk there are some other restrictions I think (accuracy and movement speed). That's it.

Higher level toons that only have light mastery nowadays usually use light armours - the combination of Evasion, set bonuses and the PDef increase from the mastery make it preferable to heavy if no heavy masteries are available.
Well for some it does...as an archer you could swap heavy onto yourself and see yourself evade less, although I find the difference not big enough to justify using light over heavy (Evasion still at 92 though)
I have played an Archer for a long time, and for the 1st 40 levels, Heavy Armor works well both with the Bow and Dagger.

After 40 though, you really do need the Light Armor.
Actually the PvPing 76+ hawkeye I know says to continue using heavy through to b-grade. Really, humans, orcs, and dwarves have relatively low dex and they simply don't evade much whatever you do. My tyrant had light armor, puma totem, +4 dex tat, and the agility buff in c4, and still got hit most of the time by green mobs (in c5, puma totem no longer has +evasion, so its even worse now).

Of course, like was said above, at higher levels, the light armor pdef bonus closes the gap between light and heavy armors, but through c-grade, there's still a debate for tyrants and hawkeyes.
I just wanted to emphasize that light armor having almost the same pdef as heavy at higher levels only happens if you *only* have light armor masteries.
A lot of people will wear heavy on their rogues through D grade, some even C grade, because at those levels light armor with few light masteries has so much less pdef than heavy armor with no heavy masteries.

It says on your passive skill exactly what bonuses you get. As maline said I only think orcs get more than just +evade and +pdef.
The main point of getting light armour in C Grade and above are the bonuses - for archers, nothing beats Plated Leather for PvE (I'm not even sure if majestic does), for daggers plated leather is superior to any other C Grade armour, and doom to any other B Grade armour.

For defense, heavy is superior in pretty much all cases until you become a higher level archer or dagger.

In short, don't decide "will I go light or heavy," but look instead at your current situation and then decide on a suitable armour.
Yeah but for those of us daggers who can't afford the over inflated prices of plated armor the rest of the choices are pretty mediocre. I am going through C grade in Dwarven Chain Mail currently. Once I hit B grade though it's Doom Light with +5 dex in tats for a total of +8 dex.
In general this is what's true for classes who both got heavy and light armor masteries.

The pdef between theos armors is 16% in endgame. With that knowlage it meens you need to evade 1,6 every 10 hit. 'MORE' in light armor, for this to work you need more or less to evade 2 hits out of 10.

the evasion difference between heavy and light armor for thoes with masteries for both is 9, and I can say this much, not a SINGLE warior class get 20% evasion rate by 9 DEX, it start to kick in between 13-15 more evasion ( aka 4-5 more hten they get ).

As for an archer I don't think you earn on using heavy armor, I havenet done the math on this thoght, but loosing 9 evasion is making the mobs hit you like 1,2 times more and the P.def bonus you get from it is not that greate, defetively not wort the 9 dex, probobly talk less then 10% P.def

And as an archer, you want Plated leather at least up to 55+ or so.
