Whats up with all the Carebears?

Bartz (OLD) Started Last reply 38 posts
I was told that Bartz was one of the best servers for PvP, yet now that I'm playing here, everytime I try to PvP, I get a sour dissapointment.
Either the other person starts that Gate Hopping Crap, or they quit fightin wanting me to go red, or they log their Big Bad A/grader.

Now this is a low level PvP, I only have 2 toons on bartz, a Necro lvl 40 and a lvl 26 PK. Both toons are having troubles finding PvP.

It's funny to see people Refuse to PvP with my lowbie Palus Knight. A few times I tried looking for a fight, I didn't even have UD. ROFL.

Last time I shouted intown about a PvP and was invited to the Arena----WTH??

Or am I doing something wrong?

Or is this server trully full of Carebears and unless people are backed up by their clan members/friends, they refuse to go 1vs1??

PS: I now see why "HIeverybody" was a bit stressed and likes to cause problems for people who refuse to fight her. I think I might need to start doing the same, after all, I've played on Erica for a very long time, griefing is like a 2nd nature to me now :p
Most of Bartz PvP that people brag about is usually clan based pvp. Finding a good 1v1 is extremely difficult, but if we ever cross paths and piss each other off, I'll give ya a fight. (I just so happened to reroll) I mean that with respect. :)
That said, the clan vs. clan pvp is some of the best you can find. Granted, there are carebears who declare war back when its in their favor, then withdrawl when the odds are against em in order to raise your pk counts.
with the chance of dropping items, i dont think youll get much of a response in calling out for people to fight you outside of the arena. perhaps you need to rethink your approach. for the lower levels, well...i dont know where people tend to hunt, but i would suggest trying out windmill hill or just outside of dion. those seem to be favorite spots. you want a fight in the higher lvls, go to fg. everyone there seems to be itching to get into it with somebody or another.
LF 1v1?

LF 1v1?

Yeah ty to solo Aeze, he's pretty lame, here comes free PvP points Erica-boi.
ROFL. Bring it!! Muahaha
I fail to see how people who dont want to pvp you makes them carebears??/ lol. I have always been fascinated by people who wield that mighty word "carebear" as if it was as powerful as the Zariche Sword. Try and come to grips that everyone has their own playing style and just because it doesn't match yours does not throw them in some sort of "bad" light. I find the words Griefer and carebear amusing since the former is so bad its good, the latter is so good its bad.
i'll take you on....i may only be level...12....but ill take u on! PvP FTW!!!

You 'may' have a point there. Also, consider this, L2 is all about PvP. So if you and I are hunting in the same place, even though some people may not see or agree to it, but nonetheless, we Are competing to stay and XP in this place and hunt the mobs that we hunt. So if people don't like to PvP by nature, in this game, they still are better be prepared to defend their place of hunt.

Don't you agree with me?
well im lvl 19 now so bring it on!!!!!!!! lets go admiral_ju00! get away from my elpies!

haha, there's the Ol' Spirit!! Go Go Elpy killa.
Please take a screenshot of that, must be fun to see hopping Elpy's trying to escape this enormous heroic bloodshed.
I will offer this one bit too. All too often, when someone looked to be your level would flag you, when you would return the flag, all of a sudden you were looking at an A grade and you died very quickly. Or, my favorite was to be setup by a toon and then get ganked by their friends around the corner as soon as you flagged back.

I am extremely careful about seemingly easy 1v1. It never is and usually I end up taking a dirt nap.
I will pvp 1vs1 full xp loss with your 25+ palus knight with my 28 Rouge!!

p/s : my rogue are strongz0r ;)

btw, most pvp happens at lvl 60+ or so...

Don't I, know it.....

However, I think it's retarted that most people wait till A grade to PvP.

Then again, since not everyone ebays gear and can not afford full A grade + SA, so it makes puuurfect sence to start PvPing as soon as hitting the 61 mark.
no comment eh?

anyone?
Lineage 2 is a PvP game - no discussion about that.

As far as that actual part of the game is concerned I admit a "carebear-attitude" for the following reasons, which I know to be shared by several members of the community.
I am a casual gamer, playing L2 for the small PvE part/graphics/buddy side of the game as a choice, so every time I loose XP it really hurts because I know it will take me much longer in real-time to regain those lost points, then someone who can easily spend 10 - 12 hrs daily to grind and has huge backup with their clan/ally in doing so.
So I have to pick my fights rather carefully which is quite difficult on Bartz atm because of the large amount of high-level powerhouses and the several rerolls most people seem to have done successfully.

a) I usually got challenged to a 1on1 by people that, being without any sort of clan allegiance, still had top equipment and those deeply blue glowing tell-tale weapons in stark contrast to my average stuff.
Little reason to engage in a fight with those as by L2 game mechanics level, class choice & equipment >>> skill and actual gaming experience. :p

b) The obvious baits...people that challenge you in remote or restricted areas or tease you in the "just want to try out how much damage you do with my new jewels/armor/etc on."-way.

You go at them full force - they die after one or two strikes - you turn red - in comes the "friend", alt, or whatsoever of the aforementioned guy - you die (bad if you have 5+ pk`s at that time) - maybe dropping some hard earned gear in the process.

c) There are simply classes that are rather ill-suited to 1on1 combat, like e.g. the Swordsinger - my class surely excells in mass-pvp with attached party but not in a duel situation.
That is of course not a server-dependend problem...

Lineage 2 lacks a certain savety valve like Guild Wars, as far as PvP made easier there by the fact that any player seems to be able to enter a PvP situation at high level using a "just-PvP" charcter with at least appropriate gear and needn`t to worry about loosing levels in a staged or heavily unfair fight and just end up feeding easy PvP points to other players.
PvP seems to work out just fine at Guild Wars as far as friends of me were able to observe.

So far I have read some interesting scripts about improving the PvP part of Lineage here in the Forum.
One poster suggested that too big a level-difference between two engaging characters should be punished (which I find rather dificult to implement in mass-PvP`s), others stated that a color code system (like when engaging mobs) that takes the difference in level and respective item power between two flagged characters into consideration could work.
Both ideas have their merrits, both have their flaws of course

I am sure some people can relate to these points while others can`t but then we are of course a diverse community.
I hope you find yourself a worthy and challenging oponnent nevertheless, admiral_ju00!
About 1-2 years ago, there was ALOT of PVP on the server. Lots of reds, etc. With the lack of newer players on the server, and the fact everyone low level seems to have a lvl 6X+ at their disposal, the level range of PVP has gone up. Which is why most PVP starts around the 60 zone. Even hanging around Gludin or the starter villages, if you do happen to attack someone, chances are it will be a lvl 60+ toon dressed like a low level char, or if you kill them, a high level char will be on the way for for redemption.

The reason no one is coming out when you are calling for PVP on your lvl 25 char, is because we are all to used to that call, and finding it is a lvl 75 who thinks he is SO strong, because he killed a lvl 25 player. Just so he can call you a noob or what ever.

Once you level up/join a bigger clan, you will start to see quite a bit of PVP. Unlike what I have read of other servers and there being 1 dominant clan, or 2 sides. Here there are tons of clans that are fairly powerful, and Mass PVP, or even 1V1 with an enemy is fairly normal (depending on your clan/alliance of course). There are also the on going farmer wars. There is alot of PVP on Bartz, you just have to wait for it.
Yes, however the problem is getting into a good and active clan. Every clan I've been in so far has usually a very small fraction of it's total members logged in at any given time.

then you obviously fail to know what a carebear is :P carebears are very very anti pvp
That is where the problem is. Some people like to lump everyone that doesn't care to take part in PvP for whatever reason a carebear as a way of an insult. Just because a person doesn't care to be PKed or want to risk losing something to someone that is clearly a higher level doesn't make them anti-PvP. It makes them anti-PK. PK(pker) and PvP(pvper) are two very different things I feel.

In this game it's very easy to hide what your character is. You do not know who you are dealing with when it comes to PvP combat. Especially with the tricks people play it's completely understandable that some people would be reluctant to start fighting back when there is so much they could lose. With the way money is done, prices in stores and the economy in general (both player and npc based) players have a lot to lose unless they are at the top and can actually afford to PvP.

That's one of the things I can think of that stands out for me with this game. Granted I've just started playing but you need to be able to afford to PvP in this game the way you want. You die you lose experience. You kill and go red, the other player will bring in a high level to kill you and you are likely to lose an item. For a low level, especailly a new player that chance of losing the weapon or something you have could be a serious blow. I know I'd rather risk dying then chance losing a piece of armor or weapon or something I picked up in hunting since I don't have any money to replace things like some.

Then people could very well rather to take part in PvP where it has meaning. For a siege or for a clan war and evne though the game is open pvp, without a reason or purpose might not be appealing to them.

Just some thoughts.
i got a 32 orc shammon i'll fight ya with. only toon around your lvl. pm me for a time anytime.

Lowbie pvp is fun. The game is balanced 20-40. Most classes can hold their own. At lvl 30 I was takeing on same lvls of all classes with my eo. this was before sleep/bow/root nerf. Prolly wouldn't fair so well now.

As for pvp, it can be huge. Last saturday prolly the best siege ever seen was on bartz at dion. Maybe i'm partial cause we won. Had wall down in 30 min. flags killed in 45 min. outer crystals down in 1:10. Inner crystal down in 1:40. All attackers left castle to dion s. gate to meet with others at about 1:45. Left s. gate at 1:50. Started cast at 1:55. Finished cast at 1:58-1:59 (time varries depending on who you ask.)

Before that it had been 2 weeks of nonstop group pvp.

That's the thing about bartz. You wont find many 1v1. It is all about mass/group pvp. 1v1 is meaningless on bartz. The pvp can be extremely intesnse or it extremely dull. It depends on clan.

If you are serious about joining a pvp clan here is a lits of those that pvp actively in no particular order.

1: namechange
2: NFC
3: The****ed
4: Uprising

I list those 4 clans cause they have been in war for a long time. Clans like Nova/IS/LegionOfSaints/Conviction and many others will war and are quite good pvp clans, but they don't seem to seek out PvP as much as the 4 I listed.

However all of these clans have high recruitment policies. If you are high 60s and a support class you might be able to get into one. Otherwise you better be 70+ or a irl friend of a member.

oh... I'm a 'him' not a 'her' ><
oh I forgot... the pvp for #1 clan is pretty well dominated by UR. Most clans that fight them disban or go hella inactive after awhile. They are good rulers and I <3 them, so they don't smite me.

However a war against UR is hella fun cause they never hide in town, and they will come out if you call them out.

oh... I'm a 'him' not a 'her' ><

Sry. I wasn't sure. I saw someone in the past refer to you as "She" so I was going with that.

None of the above applies to me. That is why I try and seek 1vs1 pvp. I tend to look for battles around the places that have mobs my level, hence when I see someone hunting there, I try to fight them. I don't take my toon to noob town and try and flag on lowbies. On certain things my consciousness is pretty low to none, but it's surely now that low.

So far just about all of the attempts I've made failed, though I did manage to get a few of the Farmers to flag on me recently after I harassed them for a while. :p
I got some TI pvp the other day on my new lowly lvl 15 DE.

I won. :p
war war war go go go!

war war war go go go!

now that would mean I 1st need to be in a Clan right?

seeing as how I can't find a clan as of late, or find crap clans where 2 out of 60 people are ever on, yeah.......you're right.

war war war go go go!

/sarcasm off
1v1 is pointless in most cases because it's stack against the other player if you're different classes (i.e. nuker > archer > * in general) there's also the element of ganking, where you'd never know if a high level would just pop out of nowhere and gank the lowbie when u flag. it happens often enough for ppl to refuse to flag unless absolutely necessary.
yes, yes. everyone is soo afraid of the 4% loss and all that
what i'm afraid of, as a legit player, is dropping items that i worked hard paying for them. If i were an ebayer, one of those with 3billion cash + another 2bill in items i wouldn't care about all that. ANYWAY for that specific reason i started a character on Franz that will become permared pretty soon.

the name is ... oh ... you'll soon find out if you're on Franz :) and he's now only lvl 10. ^^ but i would still pvp, just feel sorry for the other beginning characters :)

so beware....

for what specific reason you started on Franz? Ebaying?
so you gonna buy it 3bill in adena and 2 more billion in items and then go perma-red? :p

PS: I think I know what you might have been trying to say, but quoting you verbatum and answering that quote was just too funny and couldn't be passed up.

Item drops? In PvP? ... or now after the NO-Drop patch? You PvP much? I don't know about you, but as for myself, I can't remember the last time I dropped something in PvP.
Who cares if people are carebears or not. Just pk them or dont pk them....why is it really an issue on how someone chooses to play a game they bought. Hey, if you bought the game for them then maybe you can have a say on how they play (maybe) but since they are the ones shelling out the cash for their game....then it should be ok for them to be a carebear or not a carebear...its their choice.
goooo donuts!

A 3x-4x guy in NG and pretty obviously fullbuffed was sitting outside of TI while me + a buddy were running around flagging on the other legit newbs yesterday. We, uh, got owned by him, and he kept !shouting for us (Exevar was his name, I think). Only one of the legit newbs flagged back. It was funny. People only PVP if they're guaranteed some points.

I think when you climb into the higher levels, people become less likely to be cowards. :P

Nah. They just bring their friends to help =)
Yeah I used to play on Kain in c1-c2 and now I started a low level at Bartz. Let me just say this is the most carebear server there is. I flag on people and they dont flag back. In Kain it was a take-no-bullsh*t policy. I went over to the monster derby track to see what it was like, and wow, are people REALLY carebear. I stood around inside for like 5 minutes and nobody hit me or anything. In kain you step 1 foot in the arena your dead. I had to politely ask somebody to hit me before I was killed.

try to flag on Uprising members, The****ed members, Nova members, stripclub members, shogunited members, vestige members, and see what happened.

also do not flag on 2975394734 and dghdjfgkdf, they will not flag back

This has got to be the most useless post in the history of this Forum Boards.

By the way, just for the record, I did get a few of the botters to flag back on me.
