I have elven long sword/brig shield... also dual elven/bastard sword. What should i be using to level? and best for groups?
any info would be nice. thanks!
As a SK you will want to take advantage of your shield masteries.
Quite frankly, as a Palus Knight you could even get away with a two handed sword. Well, at lower lvls.. don't know about higher lvls. Otherwise elven sword and brig if you can afford it (with shield).
Dual swords are expensive and you don't get any masteries for them. I don't know what dual swords would do for you. Maybe give you more opportunity to crit?

Top D duals are about 2.2mil on my server, and ELS and other top D weapons are about 3.5mil, if not more.
I am a Palus Knight, almost BD(finished last quest last night), I used duals, but I'd recommend Claymore to take use of the Sword/Blunt Masteries that you learn. Claymore would also be cheaper than ELS and Brig Shield because brig shields are craft/drop only.
The ELS can be produced for as little as 2.5mil if you buy your AA at two each, around 3 mil if you buy them at 3 (which is common in an overinflated market).
No, healers should be using an ELS or a Claymore also. Healers especially have no excuse to use duals, their low accuracy means tons of SS wasted on whiffs.
I've had both on my palus knight--knowing full well there are no dual masteries till BD.
I tried the els and shield--and it worked okay.
It's my feeling while solo (99% of my game play) that I grind up the greens and whites a little FASTER with the duals.
The 'special' for an els is an almost useless 'power strike'. It doesn't land as hard as the els crit! Though the shield mastery can help decrease hits from mobs.
IDK--it's a case where the Palus Knight was designed for sword and shield but the duals work reasonably quickly. On my main server the duals were like 2.1 million or so--and a clean els was selling for 5.3 million at the time.
I took a shot at selling the els, having my ws make the duals, and using the rest for marketing.
Overall I agree with MalineII though--other than the baby healers and some say, scavi's, most toons under 40 can skip them.
That being said, I'll use mine for the next 4 levels till BD :)
Sk? No question I would think--sword + shield--he's more of a tank (imo).
The alternative to duals isn't necessarily an ELS - there's also the claymore. It has 112 base PAtk (as opposed to 107 on the duals), and masteries work on it. To boost, it doesn't waste shots when it whiffs. That's pretty nifty, if you ask me. ;p
It IS Stupid for Palus Knights to use Duals for the simple fact that if you do, all you'll be doing is Hacking and Slashing the mobs, because with the Duals you won't be able to make use your powers Sting or Power Strike.
These same 2 powers can also make a huge difference when you PvP.
Well, I grant your arguments. I've never advocated duals for the palus knight anyway.
But I hope you're not suggesting that "Power Strike" is a valid skill!
It maxes (forever) at lvl 9 when your toon reaches lvl 15! It's not a % skill--it's a straight 70+ on one attack and has a slow enough regen time that it almost never can be used PvE twice on the same mob.
By the time your toon is 35 u are critting for more than 70 as an add on---meaning powerstrike, which slows your # of attacks or hits/min, is less valuable than taking a regular hit and hoping for a crit.
Sting works at least. It has some more value--when it lands.
But "power strike"?
If they removed it tomorrow most who are trying to level pve wouldn't even notice.
I can't comment on it's value PvP--I usually haven't had time to wind up for it to land.
Right about duals being a poor choice--but I don't know about suggesting "power strike" has value. That hasn't been my experience.
