Do Overlords get penalties when using bows? If yes, what kind of penalty is it? Do OL's have enough accuracy to use bows effectively or do they miss all the time?
They do not have the necessary accuracy anymore - they receive an accuracy penalty and reduced cast speed when they use a bow. I think accuracy is -8 (that's a very significant drop for a class that already has trouble hitting any relevant target), and cast speed I don't remember.
Stick with a dagger for melee DD in PvE, and a blunt or acumen weapon for PvP.
off topic, but i once saw a tyrant who would pull with Cripple, then run away and use a bow. he was like lvl 70+ and pumped out arrows like no tomorrow.
Thanx for the info, MalineII. From what I've seen on the forum, most orc mystics go for daggers, but I think the OL's buffs are more geared towards high damage rather than critical hits, since he doesn't get a crit rate buff, as opposed to the WC.
Do you think a dex tatoo + doom light + eye of pa' agrio + BoP w/ guidance SA would be enough to offset the accuracy penalty and make him effective?
I don't know much about the mechanics of the game yet, and I'm still only a low level so I don't know how things work higher up, but this build looks to me like it would be pretty effective in pvp against any class that wears robes.
I tested this on the pts with a level 1 orc mystic. The penalty was normal, - accuracy, no - cast speed.
C5 comes out, I pull out my bow, and bam. . . 100~ less cast speed (WOW! Thats a BIG deal on an orc...) and -12/14(?) accuracy. The only things I could kill with it were 5x mages. Bows are useless for OLs in c5. :(
