I have a human wizard level 38 , I want to make him a Necromancer soon. He can be constantly recharged and empowered by an SE lvl 58 on another account.
A Karmian robe set is planned for him as soon as he hits 40. On the other hand, my Smith is ready to craft Homunkulus or Nirvana axe for him.
My question:
Homunkulus with SA Acumen or Nirvana Axe with SA Magic Power; which is better choice ? May I have your suggestions?
I will play mainly solo in the field. PvP does not interest me at this moment. Thanks for your help.
I always preferred acumen. Of course, sleep is not really noticably faster now, even with acumen.. But you still cast faster. Lots faster.
If you stick with what you can 2shot with your current matk, acumen > magic power, imo.
As a necro (correct me if I'm wrong) you will also be getting the spell "Curse Death Link." If you're going to be running around nuking mobs while you have about 6 hps, you DEFINATELY want acumen. Faster = greater chance of finishing up alive.
MY personal favorite is Magic Power. Sure you're not gonna be casting AS fast but the upside is that you can attack higher level mobs than before. Instead of two-shotting say a level 48 mob, you could essentially move up to maybe a level 52-56 mob and two shot them as well.
My example: I was level 52-53 with a Sword of Whispering Death with Magic Power. I was easily killing mobs in the Foresaken plains (the archers, mages, and mages that change into tigers). Without the SA I was using an extra spell and getting hit more often.
It's all about how you want to play and what your goals are. Mine were faster levelling and quick kills. With Magic Power, I can do that. Yeah, you do need the SE backup because of the extra spell cost.

Yea, and my high nuker is a sorc. So I have crap for b2m, and HAVE to have my SE backup, magic power or no. :confused:
The one time I had a magic power weapon it was an elemental sword with mp. I died twice within 15 minutes, in Valley of Saints :confused:
I suppose the moral of the story is, don't switch from acumen to magic power and expect to be able to play the same. You can't take on as many mobs, etc etc etc. My sleep was too slow to cc.. (Yea, I'm still bitter about the new sleep cast time, btw.) CC isn't a factor now.. but the mp didn't make any difference. I was still 2shotting the mobs that I was 2shotting with the +3SoV/acumen, and still had a sliver of life left on the mobs I had been 3shotting..
So it all comes down to whether or not there's a difference.

I would go Acumen.
For an SH it's better to go acumen because are class has the slowest casting speed out of all the nukers. For Necro's your casting speed isn't a problem, but will make all the difference when it comes down to your spells interrupting & the casting spd saving your life, it's happen to me. :p
I have been farming books for my healers in the Ice Labyrinth. I found my AOE spell put me too close to the group mobs. From 900 range I can use hurricane/death spike to kill 3 of the mobs before they get to me. I like the speed.
Also for an SH there is the issue of how fast the overhit spell casts and regenerates. It tends to be slow, so you cant use it for every kill in a fast spawn.
hmm whats the deal with Acumen it's only good for PVP even then i think Magic Power owns anyway this dude got a SE that can cast root if needed + if he use Demon robe set he supoce to blow anything up with 1 shot at his current level so while you dudes use Acumen to kill the same mob with 2 shots he do in 1 shot who is faster then =D
Acumen may be overrated for Pve and Pvp but still its a force to be dealt with everywhere in Aden. Choose whatever road you like, but dont go whining when someone else has picked another one and you cant take him or her down.
One of the reasons why I'm wondering is Homunkulus sword is too common now. Tons of wizards between level 45 and 60 use Homunkulus I suppose. Nirvana axe, in the contraly, seems rare and original. So I would do this. Try Nirvana axe w.Magic power first. If it's not fantastic, I would change it to Homunkulus w.Acumen thru BS mammon. Thx anyway. I got some helpful hints.
hmm bro if you wanna BEST of the BEST at C get your self a eclips sword HIGHEST M.atk for C at +6 it beats a SOM + very high magic power for C only down side=Blessed CSS weight a lot, if you wanna get most Efficent VS cost get your self a Mysterios Sword 2SS only i am a SPS level 50 with a mysterios Sword +4 i kill in EV forest runners up with 3 shots
my aqua do 1024 damage and my flare hit for 1800 damage compare to a [censored] sword thats 2 shot kill :)

It doesnt happen that way. At level 56 my SH could 2 shot lite red mobs in VoS, but it still takes 2 shots to kill the light blue skeleton captains just inside Dragon Valley. It is very rare when I find a white/yellow mob that has just a sliver of health left after 1 hit, where a little more power would have killed it. This did happen to me last night with some 1/2 health yellow group mobs, but I was farming for spellbooks.
A better plan is to expect to use your overhit spell on the second killing blow. The extra XP can be impressive, especially if the first spell gets it down to 1/4 health.

You cannot exhange a weap with an SA on it. You must remove it first through the blackmarket guy in towns. So, better is to sell old weap then buy another without an SA to exchange.
I have access to a necro with both acumen/magic power weapons.
I use both weapons, depending on if I can 2 shot the mobs im hunting or not. A lot of people dont have the money to overenchant their weapons, so a magic power weapon allows you to still 2 shot the mobs that would normally need an OE weapon. After it gets to the point where I two shot them regardless, I switch to the acumen weapon.
The best setup for a 4x necro is demon robes and an acumen [censored]. Dont worry about magic power till A grade imo.

Ive got a necro sub, and I have hom with acu + demon set. Granted my hom is +10, but it allows for fast leveling. I used blaze a sa necro till 44, Death SPike till 52, and now CDL. I also have an EE and SE buffing and recharing me though. Id prefer the faster cast speeds any day, epecially iwth CDL. Im doing that out in Forsaken, and if I fail an attack, it causes some real complications with slower cast speeds. Demon Set wil add to your damage, Id go that instead of Magic Power

As my necro sub is only in the 50's I am curious what you use for tats? Im using demon and hom with acu, but I havent really thought casting speed was slow at all. When I use acu pots it seems to fly. Im wondering if its just because Im not used to playing a nuker or what :)
