Spellsinger

Player Questions Started Last reply 29 posts
I'm no newbie to L2 (played since OB), but this is going to sound like a newbie question. I've mainly played mages with B2M and CLD (SH/Nec) and a lot of tanks, but I've decided to focus on my spellsinger in C5. Where on earth can I level my toon (solo) which would be efficient?

People have suggested AI for SH/Necro, but without BTM/CLD I find I run out of mana after about 10 mobs. My toon is 45 with top C (+3 DS) and it's going to take me days to level.

Any hints/ideas (solo) would be much appreciated.

Ever since sleeping cloud was nerfed, I can no longer solo in Nec/Cat without fear of losing an hours XP.
Well for me ive nver soloed after 30 or so, i was always in a duo with an SE (thats the minimum) and you need an SO/SE as your own personal recharging battery. We have no regeneration skills n we cast slightly faster then most nukers until we hit 62+ n then we just take a big lead in the casting department.

So i would suggest duoing at the minimum. And thrust me, u will not regret this becuz u kill fast n u can regen fast which means u only need down time for buffs, stock up on Cast. Pots if you want to, it helped in my case and ideally ofc if u have out-side prophet buffs its even better.

If you can find an area where group mobs are, you can use mass sleep at first to sleep them off then kill them fast 1 by 1, i did this for my Sps lvl 60 to 70 in devasted castle it was mad XP. So perhaps a similar hunting ground could prove to be great for you to lvl at.

i didnt solo much pre 60, i would go into AOE grps, but that was before C4 nerfed them, so not much hlp.

But ya, i think if you can find grp mobs (3-5) can manage to land your mass sleep n 2-shot them all before the last one standing is moving, u will find it great XP......

Hope this hlps a lil ....

Cheers!!
AI is a fantastic place to level but as a SPS, if you have no recharger and no empower you will be on your butt a lot. There's just no way around that, IMO. Not even walking, using mana regen, which does help.

Maybe try 1x hp mobs like in sea of spores, and under ivory tower.
Alligator Islands IS great, especially the little quests that give you treasure maps (possible d gloves rewards) and there solo items seem to drop a little more frequently there. Many of the mobs are very social and I think almost ALL (except the Fahrite Lads and Crokian Lads) are aggro. Watch out for the little alligators. Sometimes they just "sneak up" on ya when you least expect it.
Welcome to the life of a spellsinger.. Mana regen sucks, there's nothing you can do about it unless you duo with an SE.. You can make it a little better if you /walk at all times, and use that money eater mana regen self buff..
Now for hunting spots, the one place that worked PERFECT for me at that level was Dragon Valley.. The Cave Servant Warrior s, Dragon Bearer Warriors and Cave Servant Captains are all weak to sacred (solar flare), so you can probably 2 shoot them for about 4-5k a kill, and there's a little spot where 3 of them spawn that the timing is just perfect for the solar flare to be ready again at each respawn..
I'm on Sieg too, PM me in game anytime, and I'll show you the spot.. :)
Helldereth: AOE sleep is so slow now and if it fails, I have a lovely bunch of mobs to deal with. Thanks for you input.

Joaquin: I've spent over 2 weeks in AI to no avail. Yes, you get a nice batch of adena from some quests, but item-wise, I get rubbish music scores and +1/-3 dyes.

caux: cheers for that, i think i'll try dv. was my favourite spot for my BH in c1/c2.
Spellsinger sucks now! I have managed to die several times. I've lost -12% two days ago even in a duo with a SE. Curse fear is a joke. Sleeping and sleeping cloud cannot protect you any more.

I've tried to use them differently. That is when I see many mobs very close to each other, I'm casting sleeping cloud (or sleep if there are only two)... go for a coffee... then argh!?!? sleeping cloud didn't affect all mobs and now I have all of them hitting me to the ground.

Forget soloing if you choose any mage class. That includes spellhowler, because at least sorcerer and spellsinger has got auras, a very quick and powerful enough nuke to hit the mobs quick and save your life. Spellhowler must use the drain and pray he would not get any interrupt.

Don't forget to be a Coin of Magic quest guild member. Gold Wyverns drop there from Shackles, Headless Knights and Royal Cave Servants. Their rate seems to be nerfed in C5, but it is still better than nothing.
Then you aren't playing right, I have my sps around Oren doing the group mobs, sometimes pulling 2 groups of 4 and still blowing away 6 of them before the reach me. I even went to the bottom of GOE and duo'd with my SE on the guardian group mobs there. I did die once from a bad pull but considering how dangerous the area is, it's not too bad. I still really enjoy my subclass.
yes, you have the skill called mana regeneration but of course it is no body to mind and doesnt again effectiveness until higher levels.

Anyway, alligator island ftw at this level. If you are wooried about dying just go where the bots are and you will never have too many on you at once.

well, i thinck you are a little bit stupid.
Why u use Sleeping cloud on mobs and go coffe?
U must know that the mobs Agro on you after cloud.
Its normal that they attack you.

My SPS is lvl 70 and i play always alone WITHOUT ANY PROBS.

So go and learn how to play your class noob

He's referring to the 3 hour long casting time on sleep.

Mana regen spell for spellsingers is horrifyingly bad even at max levels. It is argueable if it is even worth spending the adena for the spell.

Even for all its cost, level 1 B2M is better than the absolute top ranks of Mana regen spell when it comes to mana return.

At top ranks the spell returns ONE nuke per minute.
That is 1 kill every two minutes extra.
The spell takes a full minute before you actually gain anything from the spell due to the mana cost.
Thus you kill an extra 9 mobs due to this spell over the duration of the spell and you pretty much are guaranteed to be giving up the profit margin on 10-20 mobs.

I would not recommend spellsinger to anyone.

Unless you have a 2nd-box SE or EE, are nearing subclass, or REALLY want to be a spellsinger, I recommend rerolling. Nearly every other class is better at soloing, grouping, and group PvP.

7x spellsingers have two choices... find a lonely SE or EE and duo (good luck), or solo. Everything else is charity on the part of the players grouping you.
Sarcasm FTW.

Nothing has changed for solo for a spellsinger.
two-nuke for 2 minutes until out of mana... stand around for 10 minutes...

All they did is make make melee better at solo than a spellsinger.
Surprised noones mentioned the 1 SERIOUS flaw in the OP's setup...

He is using a +3 DS.. dude turn that into a humo and slap some acumen on that and things will get better.
I'm really scared go on the quarts outside Oren. I used to go there on C4. Now, I prefer places with one mob here and the other mob there. Being a stun favourite customer it's not very wise decision to solo there.

I'm going to Devasted Castle, but sometimes the stupid doom knights come with some company :)
With a speed set up sleep cloud is still slow, maybe 5-6 seconds but it's still pretty bang on for preemptive control.
Thank you very much for your compliment. Well, it seems that your brain power is too low for you to understand that. As SilverWolfEcho pointed it was a simple sarcasm for the increased casting time of sleeping cloud.

I though I have learnt how to play my class. I rarely died on xp when a shitie situation appeared. That was before of course. Now, I’m trying to adjust my playing style as much as possible and hit like a chicken an isolated mob or die if more are attracted by my presence :-(

Being a level 70 spellsinger means that you are rarely go for xp, since you pvp a lot or when you go out for xp you are constantly with your clannies for better protection against your clan’s wars. In a peaceful clan like mine, xp is our primary objective.

Not when the mobs are even level or higher...
60-80% are affected and the rest charge you unless someone roots them, and then you didn't need Sleepcloud...

Sleepcloud = deathwish unless they are rooted... in which case you didn't need sleepcloud.

Worst problem is, in the time it took you to cast sleepcloud, you could have killed half of them yourself (solo) or they are already dead (grouped) when you really need it (stopping a train) its completely worthless.

Sleepcloud is now an almost completely worthless spell.
As it stands, I want my SP back.

Meanwhile AoE Root is nearly insta-cast.

The sheer hypocrisy of it would be funny if it weren't such a crippling blow.

They can keep sleep... give me my SP back and return sleepcloud.

There is no excuse for nerfing sleepcloud period. Not while AoE root is so powerful and so fast.
I totally agree with you. I have to add another observation. I'm casting sleep on a mob which has another mob near to it... sleep takes too long and the mob moves to another group of mobs... guess what!?!?!? When the sleep lands all mobs close to it start chasing me :-( If I don't press the ESC button quick enough to cancel the sleep spell... another death would be faced. Two mobs are enough to take me down, since they stun me a lot :-(

I have to find a spot of immobilised mobs :-/
Heh yeah I've done that on group mobs, start casting sleep cloud, mob moves towards me leaving minions behind, it lands only on one mob, leaving the other 4+ free to beat the living tar out of me..

What good would acumen do when I already have sick casting speed? Sleep and cloud are still sllllooowwwww and I can still 2/3/4 shot pretty much anything before it hits me. What I need is higer matk (i have tats) or more MP.

I'm leveling a necro anyway, so I'm hoping that'll do better.
Didn't you just answer your own question? Why do I need speed when sleep is so slow? So it's not AS slow?

Well frankly, since sleep and SC are so slow, you should probably just retire them to the "bag of stupid never-used tricks" along with frrezing shackle, ice dagger, curse:weakness, aura flare, and all your other worthless spells.

To be fair, there are no mage SAs worth anything... you might as well get Acumen as nothing else does you much good.

If only Magic power and Empower weren't so horrifyingly terrible.

always target the agro mob when sleep clouding groups
it gives a higher chance that some will be out of range but greatly decreases the chance of getting agro before sleep lands
Yeah that's what I've been doing, it still doesn't stop the mob from just naturally moving around, happen to head your direction and you get aggro while still casting. Minions are always a step or two behind.
yeah not much you can do when the group wanders that even happened back in C4 when sleep cloud was almost instant cast
Sure you could, you would just regular sleep the ones that cloud didn't get. it's far too slow for that now.
