Hi guys, this is the situation: Franz, new server, short of money.
What should be the "regular" amount of money on a char on a due level?
I mean, by what level should I expect - on a regular progression xp/adena - to have the 1.6m to buy top D grade weapon?
BTW im 25 and im broke :P
Thanks.
unfortunately atm the only economy i saw was the $ per adena's one :P
Anywayim with a mithral armor, so I'm 300k far to D grade armor :) my fault anyway! :) thanks for the help!
Actually the mith heavy (if that's what you mean) is almost as good as brig (without the higher hp increase).
I always use mith heavy into my 30's on melee toons because it's pretty good and pretty cheap.
I would say on the 17 toons I've started that without twinking some (important point!) I've had about 4-600,000 adena plus mats in WH around lvl 25 or 26.
On the old servers I usually play I am just looking for the first 500k to begin playing the market at night anyway. That's probably a lot tougher on Franz.
If I recall, shop d-weapons (for melee) go "bastard sword = 700k or so"; "elven sword = 1.2 million or so"'; "sword of revolution 1.7 million or so".
Of course I'm not looking at the game or a guide so that could be off.
A bastard sword has a patk of like 51, the next level is 60-somthing, and you get to like 74 with top shop melee weapons--in there somewhere.
Whether you can use one of these depends a bit on playstyle. If you ALWAYS group (clan, friends) then buy the bastard sword and count on the group's attack power to level. If you are ALWAYS solo--the lowest sword will get you beaten nearly to death by the time you reach level 30 or so cause you just kill too slow with it.
The same is mostly true for fists and blunts. Mage weapons are a bit different because a mage's ability to kill is a bit less dependent upon weapon.
I know on my first toon I made my first million at about lvl 28. I thought I was hot stuff!!!!
I was also using a falchion in full bronze at lvl 25 so I don't think you "NEED" d-grade and certainly not Top-D grade gear to play the game in the 20's.
On a new server i imagine you will have to do alot of crafting at C grade already, the stuff isnt just there floating around already like on any of the older servers where its just to go look on the market or look at shout WTS, lol, so save mats for future craftingpurposes... remember, you're the new population on a new server :) you'll be part of getting the gear floating around in the markets no matter what race/class you are :)
and being a warsmith at 60 i've seen most of the recipes up to top B grade for both weapons and armor.. you're gonna need the mats :) Saving them is a good idea, hehe
Never sell basic mats if you're new to game. Include iron, coal, charcoal, animal skins, animal bone, etc. Just hold them--they stack in WH without taking too much room.
If you sell you probably won't know enough about game to get a good price.
Players often set up "buy shops" in starter towns or gludin announcing "iron for 300a". That seems like a good deal to you---but iron might be selling for 800a each in Giran.
Basically keep 1 copy of "mat recipes" (unless you're a dwarf) and sell the rest to a shop. There are some nuances to this--soul shot d recipe can sell for 50-100k so be careful. Sell emergency dressings, bandages, keys you're not going to use, low gear full-drops you're not going to use. But keep your materials that you get as drops.
Once you get clanned perhaps that clan's warsmith can either make you a good weapon someday or you can contribute your mats to the clans goals or you'll have been around enough to know the value and you won't get taken advantage of when selling later.
Don't sell mats to NPC's.
In a game without many absolutes--that is one.
Corollary to "don't sell mats to NPC's" is "don't sell mats to any buy shop from another player before you've spent some time in Giran".
As an example, a few weeks back on Lionna Animal Bones got as high as 2,200 adena EACH. Sure would have been a nice to have 3-400 you didn't need!
Good luck.
