What have 2+ gears to do with blak and white? Nothing truthfully.
And seriously, if you CAN'T afford 2 weapons at 76/75 I have really no clue what your doing. I alredy got 2 A grade weapons, and I'm just 71.
Secondly the acumen weapon your looking for is worth like 12m, the blunt an AOBA with health is fine or Elysian Axe with Health.
But just be aware of this, 1v1 one with a healer is just stupid, just PR away, no point fighting them or as a bishop, sleep, then start SOE. For Elympiads your about as screwed as ever anyway dependen on what target you get. Here you need massive OE'd weapon to have a chans. S grade OE'd ones even.
And if your complaning right now about afording 2 weapons, don't expect to be abel to afford that weapon at all, not for a long time.
LOl, i dont have pr - u sure do ur research dont u. Btw im lvl 60 with only like 2 mill. I dont get it. Does everyone cheat or sumtin?
A tip is to read your OWN topic, Let me quite it okay? Not only that, I did mention how you can do it as an Bishop, but I presume you didnt even read the post, Just have intrest to flame peopels here or what? I hope you get lost from here as your just ennoying.
Anyone have any good ideas for pve and pvp setups for bishops or EEs?
And thanks for ofending us who do well, very nice to keep going. I'm out of here to try to help you out.
Im thinking overall. Like a lvl 40 Warlock ownt me the other day so i have to be able to beat the warlock and normal pvp any ideas?
A level 60 bishop should never, ever lose to a level 40 summoner. Seriously, even if that level 40 was in full top C and you just had a homunkulus, it should always be your win.
First off, you can easily erase the summon with a 20 level advantage over them, you should have almost 100% success rate with bsps. Now, the summoner has basically three options:
1. Try to resummon. If they try this, just melee them, it will probably break the summon. If they get the summon back, erase the thing again. Keep erasing as long as they keep summoning. They're spending 70 MP to summon, you're spending 55 to destroy it. And you have the larger mana pool and better mana regen.
2. Try to melee you. Yes they have the cubics, but you have the heals, and there's no way they should be able to kill you. Regardless of what your weapon is, you'll have better self-buffs, and your level guarantees you will have higher patk (assuming you're not using a nongrade weapon or something like that...). The summoner hasn't gotten a healing skill since level 14. You'll eventually run them out of MP and win.
3. Try to nuke you. Once you stop the hysterical laughter after watching every nuke of theirs fail because they're using level 35 nukes on a level 60, melee them. This is even an easier victory; they burn off their MP and you take no damage.
Healer vs. summoner is never going to be a FAST fight, but with a 20 level advantage, assuming the fight actually lasts long enough for someone to win, it should be you.
You have:
* The ability to remove their only damage-dealing method (the summon)
* One (almost two) grades better armor & jewelry
* Better self buffs
* Better patk, matk, mdef, and pdef
* More HP, MP, HP regen, and MP regen.
* Better heals
* Root
Hell, I'd rather take my hat off to a summoner that beat a bishop 20 levels above himself.
Seriously Bow, stop for just one second and actually read this thread. I'm not sure if you made it just to flame others or if you're just getting defensive cuz you think everyone is flaming you.
I love how you tell Jilly to "learn something about this game" when what he's saying is 100% correct. Listen to the people who have played this game, played healers, since Prelude. We know what we are talking about.
Healers are not supposed to kill people. This is an MMO, heavily dependent on groups. Each person has a "job" in a group. The healer's job is to HEAL. There may be certain situations where you can do something else in pvp but in most cases, your primary concern is (or should be) to heal. For instance, if you're too busy mana burning everyone to even notice that someone in your party is being killed, then you're not doing your job.
That said, there are certain set-ups that are accepted as the "healer" set-up. Why does everyone use the set-up? Is it because we're all lemmings? No, it's because that set-up works the best. Believe me, there have been many other healers that have come along in the past and said "what if I did this, wore that, got these tattoos?" but in the end, we all wind up wearing and using the same thing. Why? BECAUSE IT WORKS THE BEST.
If you set up for 1v1 pvp, aside from that being rather stupid, in and of itself, you are not going to be able to function as well in groups as you could if you were set-up for grouping. Sorry, but that's just how it goes. Doesn't mean you'd suck completely, but still, you could be better. And even if you set up for 1v1, you'd probably need more than one weapon/armor set. So yeah, stop flaming and read the thread. Most of the people who have posted are 100% right.
The olympiad is still going to be a painful lesson for a bishop no matter what, ok sure we can trance and mana burn but we still have no GOOD offensive buffs and your dmg is still going to be lame as all heck. If you erase the summon it's still like two wet noodles going at it with pom-poms until the time is up.

That reminds me of an arena fight between PleChan's EE and a prophet friend of ours (this was C4). The fight ended with a give up because of boredom :p

lol yes, such fights usually are not decided by who dies, but by who first falls asleep, or has his 24h ISP disconnect, or has to take a bathroom break :)
In C4 (haven't tried C5) my EE used to be able to 1v1 decently. I could beat most classes (not summoners, tanks, destroyers or prophets with heavy) upto around two or three levels lower than me. This would of course be self buffed, fully buffed or at equal level then I usually (not always) died. This was in my mid-60s, I haven't really tried much since then.
When in 1v1 PvP setup depends on who you're fighting. Against any physical DD I always used BW Light Armour, the p.def on it is pretty good, and with shield blocks it can take a long time for even archers to kill you. Against nukers, I used my Avadon Robes, since the cast speed was a lot more important than p.def.
So depending on your grouping playstyle, you'll need two armour sets. If you're always in small groups/duos you might get away with just having BW Light. However in a large group, or somewhere difficult, or for AoE, then you'll certainly need some sort of cast speed robes.
Weapon wise I use a Keshanberk with focus, it's a trade off between crit rate and accuracy. Using a dagger I think I'd miss too much without guidance, and using a blunt would reduce the number of crits.
I certainly didn't screw myself over in PvE, I have the usual WIT tattoo, but no physical stat tats. I've certainly never needed extra cast speed from an acumen weapon in PvE. Personally I'm not invloved in any group PvP, and if I was then things would probably change, since I'd probably use an acumen or health weapon instead.
As stated above though, PvP with a healer usually takes a long time, and can be very, very boring. I once PvP'd a TK for over 45 minutes, and after that we just gave up since neither of us was going to win.
As for the Olympiad, well I've never taken part, but it seems to me to be a lot harder for healers than "normal arena" 1v1. Simply because it's most damage done over a certain amount of time, and healers don't do damage fast, we win fights by just wearing the other person down. We can't really do that in the Olympiad.
C5 is probably a lot worse for healers though, considering physical skills can now crit (if I remember right), it makes daggers, glads, tyrants et.c a lot harder. We'll be spending most of our time healing ourselves, and not get much chance at all to kill the opponent. Maybe nukers are a little easier, since they can no longer really sleep, but Mental Shield really stopped that in C4 anyway.
Oh and Bishops have it even worse tha EEs, due to lack of buffs.
Im thinking overall. Like a lvl 40 Warlock ownt me the other day so i have to be able to beat the warlock and normal pvp any ideas?

yeah but u see any decent setup has about -8 str on a bishop. I right now have an SoV and i never carry BSS cause i have too much trouble just finding BSPS and Spirit Ore. So i would hit him for about 25 dmg while he would hit me for about 10 i think, sept he had an OEd two handed blunt and was spamming SS on him and his summon. I dont have erase yet like i said im broke and those SBs are pricy. I have hunted for them before but you see that place isnt very popular for a duo-trio and i dont find any grps going up there. Therefore his summon could hit me for a steady 60 dmg. (I dont have my +con -str tat yet). Not to mention a necromancer was greifing the whole thing silencing me and hitting me for 1dmg and all :p he was also lvl 40 but for some reason i could 7 hit him with my 20 and below nukes but i couldnt do that to either the summoner of the summon...
Its not gonna be a pompom match. Bishops can heal themselves but have some shotty healer weapon and robes. No offence but:
C/B 1 handed Sword < B/A Duals.
Blue Wolf Robe Pdef < Blue Wolf Light.
sounds to me that a bishop is i need of some kind of DD weapon.
It's a waste of time for a bishop to have a DD weapon. Maybe I'll pick a fight with my warlock buddy, borrow some of his DD gear and make a movie of it.
Eh why not? 1v1 PvP can sometimes be fun even for healers. Admittedly I do 95% of my PvP in the arena, because it's nice as a break from other things, without all the hassle that goes with other PvP (clan wars, ganking).
I can't imagine why you'd want to 1v1. I 1v1ed a gladiator 10 levels below me once. 15 minute long battle, we were both at nearly full health at the end, and we got bored.
In C4, I used DD weapons on my EE some, including a BoP (which you can't do anymore) and avadon light. Its pointless. There's no way you're going to ever kill anyone unless they're braindead.
Although I did once wind strike to death a low level that was trying to pk my alt. lol.
15 minutes should easily be enough to kill a Gladiator 10 levels lower, at least for an EE. Of course this assumes, you're using soulshots, and neither of you are using potions or have Vampiric Rage. In any of those cases, the fight might never end.
Healers can kill people, it's just not three shotting people like other classes can.
I guess I've been lucky to run into quite a few braindead people ;).

Apparently you had several disadvantages that made the day so miserable.
1) It's not so hard to buy 500 bss just for the sake of pvp. There is no excuse for you here. Really, they don't cost millions and they are not supposed to be spammed all the time in PvE.
2) Few CP potions make a big deal in pvp. They are cheap and you can always carry like 10-30 of them (depending on your set-up and gear).
3) Mana burn, trans and erase are important in situations like this. Sleeping summoner without mp and summon won't hurt you much.
After all this things you blame your "weak" 'set-up'... It's just pointless to argue of your set-up if you cut your damage by half, total CP by 1/3, mana management by 3-4 times (it's just the difference for mana burn) and allows your enemy to multiply damage by 3-4 (summon + pet's shots). Your set-up is already not important here.
I dont think people give NCsoft enough credit. Im 100% positive there is some way to make a "Battle Bishop" I dont wanna give all of the reasons and ideas i have away at once but just look at battle prophets, all it takes is the motivation, creativity and a lil luck to find out how to do it. Imma see what i come up with. Bishops are just a lil more hidden to their talent then a preophet or WC or OL for that matter. Same with EEs wish me luck :)
And your target can also start SOE on you :P or run off LOL, if they had enought :P
Even me as an BH I can drop em, takes a while but not that long, I example easely kill prophets after 2-3 min so :P And I'm the worst melee class ingame. PS this is unbuffed vs buffed prophet, prophet was also 2 lv's abow me when I tried it last :P
Also I wuld sugest robes if your an EE or Bishop now by the way, due the new heal. THe p.def difference is about 16% between Light armor and Robes. MP wise it's like 50%. This translate to that you can heal up waaaaaaay more damage if your in robes, vs light armor, not only you get higher MP regen and faster casting speed. Maby not as much damage but yeah.
You can be battle bishop if you want, but there are always some drawbacks in set-ups.
Mana burn is the ultimate spell give to bishops. It's one of things that made difference between C4 and C5 bishop fighting styles. In C4 I had to overcome nukers/summoners damage (by heals, apparently) and deal just a portion of damage in between. More or less it worked, but not that much, to be honest.
Generally people talk about bishop set-up considering bishop regular role - main pvp healer in big groups. This way you maximise casting speed, run speed and protection/hit points. That is, you have to sactifice melee damage ability of bishop.
It's quite successful set-up for the role. But it's not the only possibility.
You can try other set-ups if you wanna be 1vs1 combatant.
At first, short description of pvp scenario - you should combat people 1vs1, you should have good connection, you should be ready to lose to melee DDs (especially daggers), you should concentrate on relatively low leveled people.
Let's concentrate on your combat abilities.
1) Tatoos: +4WI/-4MEN, +4STR/-4CON, optionally +4DEX/-4CON
2) BW light or Plated leather armor in addition to BW Robe set.
BW Light gives more PDef, while PL gives more PAtk. PDef is important if you get heavy loads of damage, but generally you don't get big chance in this case anyway. Plated leather gives you not so bad PDef and increases you damage.
3) 1-handed melee weapon of your grade and 1-handed Conversion/Mana up weapon.
4) Shield
The general progress of duel
1) You start by controlling your enemy. Put it in trance and burn mp. Trans won't work always, but if it does, you get time for mana burning. If it works good (in case your enemy has no mental shield), you can drain all the mp your enemy has without roubles.
Also get rid of enemy pet. Erase for summoners, erase and turn undead+MoH on nercomancer summons.
2) Now close up and **** you enemy with your weapon. Heal youself once you lack about 600-700 hit points. If your enemy nukes or makes heavy damage, use Greater Battle Heal. If damage is not that heavy, use Greater Heal for HoT effect and Major Heals for reduced mana usage.
3) Once your mana is below Mana up/Conversion effect, switch your weapon to melee one.
4) Once your mana is below robe bonus, switch your armor to light armor.
5) If you see/sense dangerous special effects like double shot, silence, anchor, cancel, sleep - use transe to interrupt casting (if it works with reliable rate). Try to keep enough hit points to withstand stun effects (it's very hard thing, to be honest, but you can at least try).
Use Magical Backfire once, use Mana burn soemtimes to drain mana regenerated over battle.
If you have time/health and your enemy will try to flee, use Ice Bolt to reduce speed.
Try to use trance if you enemy is fleeing and you can't overrun him/her.
Try to deny healing for your enemy. Battle heal spam for mystics is a sign of excessive mana pool - burn it then.
By the way, carry few acumen potions with you for the case of cancel. First thing you should do after cancel - acumen potion.
Being in PL with melee weapon and +4STR tatoo I nailed nuker of similar (slightly lower) level down to few hit points in C4. It worked quite well up to cancel/sleep. Now with nerfed sleep and cancel it should be no problem.
Unfortunately I switched to GvG style with +CON, Tallum Robe and magic weapon, since 1vs1 pvp is hardly exist anywhere outside of arena.
For some classes you don't even wanat to go as low as 600-700 HP, if I get a stun in who I do get a lot, SPECIALY on the setup you just wrote, I bet i have a stun chans abow 80%.
In a case like that, you don' want to get close to a BH or WS or an other class who can stun with less then 2k HP.
If the stunner get lucky the stun last 8 sec, this translate to about 10 hits, and 10 hits translate to about 2k damage. Stun on average last 2-3 hits, and 3 hits is 600 in damage, and your dead.
And the classes you need to avid is basicly all melee classes ingame in that setup. More or less.
There's a huge, huge different in comparing a battle prophet to a possible battle BISHOP.
Prophets have great defensive and OFFENSIVE buffs. Bishops do NOT. Prophets get heavy armor mastery, bishops do NOT. A prophet can grab a DD weapon, light/heavy armor and melee in a duo/trio and do well, buffing themselves and party members. A bishop has might2, focus1, zerk1, look out. A prophet can get away with removing HP for STR because in pvp/pve if a prophet dies, what happens? oh buffs might be late, who cares. A bishop dies it's a big problem.
I guess there's something to be said for creativity but in the human race when the classes are specialized (cleric splits to buffer OR healer) I don't think you can really get away with much.
