I have been trying very hard in this event. I've tried different charactors in the event. For the most part i find i get 1 medal per minute of play. I have 2 toons needing lvl 12 soul crystal. Thats 20k medals.. Lets do some math... 20k mins/60mins =13.9 days of constant play needed.. I dont bot and dont have alot of cash since i have recently crafted som and bought soulbow.. How am i supose to get 20k medals?
My entire clan is saving up 10k to get 1 soul crystal. That's right, 30+ people all working to get just 1 crystal, that's how the game was designed to work.
A solo player cannot expect to get even one Level 12 soulcrystal from the event (10,000 medals.) You must either get most of them from friends, or buy them. If you cannot do this, use the event to get a good portion of the adena you need to buy the crystal later.
Medals on my server sell for 8k to 10k, and buy shops have them at 5k to 6k. You can get a good head start on the adena needed, even if you don't get enough to get the crystal directly.
I dont think its a big deal to get enough medals. Today i saw a dorf near the event guy selling: Red Party Mask, Blue 12, Red 12, Green 12, 49k Medals and 7k Glittering Medals.
If he can get in 1 1/2 weeks 80k+ Medals, why shouldnt we?
I've given up and set up shop to buy em when I'm not on. so far I've bought like 2k this whole time. I've farmed about 2k so I figure in the end, I'll have to sell some old gear and fork out like 35mill adena and buy the rest to get a lvl 12. If I could only sell the gear...

I think it was Mystral who said that medal drops are affected by the amount of ppl server wide that are farming the medals. As you can imagine, several parties from several groups in several organizations should severely affect drop rate for Joe/Jane Average. I'm not the expert though so...

Alomst got 2k drops myself, your clan defetively need to start grind harder :)
im pretty sure i could have gotten 10k of medals in the event period unfortunately i havent had a chance to play most of the time but im already up to 2k in just a few days
dont understand how ppl can think each event should automatically net them a few hundred mil worth of gear
Hehe dont be sad, i must have something like 300 medals :p I can only play 1 or 2 hours a day, when i have a chance to play ^^

That it takes a clan of 30 their entire effort to get just ONE crystal is SAD.
This is supposed to be an EVENT. NOT "yet another part of the grind". [(tm) NCSoft Kr.]
No I don't expect the silly things fall into your lap, but it shouldn't be outside the real of possibility for a solo person to devote an average amount of time (like 2hrs a night) to the event and still be able to get one of the crystals assuming that they are of the apporpriate level.
So what if 'teh hardkoR~!' players manage to get 3 of those crystals for every 1 a solo player gets? More than likely they will just burn them up on an OE's weapon anyway or GASP! they might save them for people in their clan to use later!
In short, a decent drop rate on an event like this goes a LOOOOOOOOONG way to keep the people you need most playing your game. AKA The normal players. Constantly screw them over and they WILL quit eventually when they get ticked off enough. And when they are all gone, you can be certain the 'harcore' will follow once they lack people to 'ownzer!'.
[Too Little == Too Much] when it comes to things that can kill enthusiasm. Too little and people get frustrated, annoyed and angry...too much and they get blase and bored....and right now L2 is definately on the 'Too Little' side of things and it has been for quite a few 'events' over the past year or so.
An event is what it is. An event is probably defined as something outside of the normal day to day activities when it comes to an mmorpg.
Is something dropping that doesnt usually drop? Yes
Is everyone capable of getting something of value for free? Yes
Thats all there is to it. No one agrees with you because you're wrong dude, just wrong thats all there is to it! Sorry bud, those who work for level 12 soul crystals dont appreciate every person on the server being able to get them through other means which requires no effort outside of their normal day to day duties.
So stuff it and get over it, there will never be an event like that and lazy bums like you who want everything for free will never succeed in a lineage type game anyway.

WOW. A rabid Fanboy! And here I thought NCsoft wasn't able to attract any of those. I feel special getting a response from one....NOT. Here's a hint though, just because the loaf that falls from NC's backend is golden...doesn't mean it's mana from heaven...sometime it's just a plain Ol' ****.
