How do hatchlings level up?

Is it like wolves...that they need to attack to get xp or they share the xp u gain?
like wolves
so does that meen they only gain xp as they attack? cuz i wanted to go and do a hatchling lvling party
Hatchlings only get xp based on the amount of damage they do (like wolves). So if you kill the mob and they dont hit, they dont get any xp. You could do a hatchling leveling party (I have seen a few in EV run by our automated friends).

Good things to have: Someone than can buff (prophet imo is the best) and someone that can keep agro on the mob (any kind of toon with a hate like skill).
or if you have a nuker hatchling.. se with root and emp and you good to go
Is the xp they get depended on how many times they hit?

Do they get more xp if they get last hit?
no it depends on the damage they do. I think the same rules apply to hatchling leveling that apply to leveling with a party.
No.. a healer gets the same xp wether they hit the mob or not...

Hatchlings have to do the damge to get the xp..
If the hatchling solos the mob.. full xp
Shares it with another hatchling.. xp = to the damage it did

It would be nice if they worked like the new pets where they could leech in a party...
oh sorry, that's how the party system worked a few chronicles ago :p

I never remember the party system being damage based....pure levels for all time.
you know, you are right...just remembered what's damaged based is OOP XP as in if some one is KSing you, you get most of the XP and drops as long as you do most of the damage. never mind :).
So, if I get it right, the best method is to let a hatch solo the mobs...

The xp gained is calculated according the pets level or it has to do with your level too?If the mobs r blue to me the pets gets less xp if it killw em on its own?

Any suggestion where to lvl a 35 lvl hatch?
What classes get that hold undead skill? I can't remember. That skill that paralyzes something undead for quite a while. With it being undead you have the advantage of stacking holy weapon.

I used that on fettereds to level my hatchling back in C2. Quite painstaking without a weapon, no beastshots, no blessed petres, and losing the thing if you disconnect.

Summoner classes can use their servitor skills on trained pets too can't they?

Bishops get hold Undead...but the duration is much shorter in C5 with an incresed land rate and yes summoner buffs work on pets too.
Can hatchlings use pots/get buffs/get healing?
Yes to all the above, just the same as wolves.

edit: ach, beaten :p
