Well if you goto the download section here in the Lineage2.com site, you used to be able to just download the client, which used to be only like 900meg.
Now when you goto the same spot to download the client, it leads you to Fileplanet and it forces you to download the entire C5 expasion for the client...........2.8 gig worth for the client.
Oh hrm go to where it lets you download the PTS to live conversion file. Drop that file in a folder and click it. It will download the entire thing for you without using file planet.
Hmm, me thinks that the last time you downloaded L2 was perhaps when it was in C1?
Ya it has been a very long time since i have downloaded it, but i think i remember that even in C3 you could just download just the client and then the client would patch the game in for you, i know this cause i formatted my system and lost my back up disks for L2 and had to spend 18 hours downloading all 3 chronicles again.
I think they may have done this because it would take longer to patch a older client through NCSoft servers, then it would for you to just get a direct download of the newer client. I know the max speed I've ever downloaded at from NCSoft update servers is only about 42KB (336Kb). Compare that to what a file hosting service like Fileplanet can upload to me at, 350KB (2.8Mb).
I'd rather download the 2.8GB client @2.8Mbps, instead of updateing from C1->C5 @ 336Kbps.
