A Whole New Breed

I was thinking and doodling just a little while ago, when I thought of a very, very different way of playing a certain class, the Necromancer. This is mostly based on old views I had of Necromancers, and the way they actually operate.

People say that Necromancers are hybrid nuker/summoners, right? Well, what if we were to take that one step further... Based on the general playstyle of Necromancers most people have today, most skills go unused. Well, what if you were to play a Necromancer more like a true summoner/healer than a nuker?

They have numerous ways of getting back lost HP, and they have a myriad of curses and debuffs to use. They also have 4 true nukes, to boot. Give them a dagger and let them run around with their summon out and TP going, they could melee/nuke/heal/debuff/crowd control. I personally think this would be a very fun way of playing the class. Not to mention it would fit with the style of a killer Necromancer, capable of physical, magical, and mental domination.

Discuss =P

EDIT: Typing while sleepy is bad for your grammar and spelling, people.
#1. It will be slower XP for sure.

#2. The summon will pull aggro att later lv's, and you only got a very low lv heal so it will be quite hard to heal it up.

#3 You either get the good buffs for your summon.

#4 nukers have always ben the fastest lv class in the game, all they need to do is to find an SE friend and duo with her/him and nuke mobs.
theres a reason you dont see necros running around with summons unless they are ganking ppl
although their summons have some of the best (if not the best) stats, they have basically no buffs and only pre 20 heals
a 15% reduction in xp so you can 5 hit it instead of 2 hit doesnt really add up
Uhm, how about No, under your suggestions.

Now, if you say lets revamp the Necromancer of Lineage2 to say a Necromancer of Diablo II, then Bring it ON!!

I wouldn't mind running around with 20 Skeletons and a Golem :p

ps: Flame On!
With SE or WC buffs and shots, the Cursed Man should hurt pretty badly - and its experience penalty isn't that high. Of course, you wouldn't go hunt in an area where you can two-shot with a summon, but rather in an area where having one tank with VR actually makes sense - multi-HP mobs.

Actualy, they have heals about of the level of profet. The wizzy's servitor's heals. I think those are actualy little better then profet's heals.
*sigh* This wasn't a suggestion to change the class at all (At least I hope none of you saw it as such). This wasn't even really a "suggestion"... This was a way to discuss possibilities with the class to have more ways of having fun with it.

I never stated that the XP wouldn't suck, or even be good. I really should hope the summon aggros at later levels, if you have ever played a true summoner it isn't easy to tank as a mystic. I think it would be quite a good challenge to summon without "the good buffs". And what does the nuker always being the fastest XP class have anything to do with anything? I don't think that my ideas challenge that in any way...

Once again, I am not saying that such a set up would be very XP friendly. I AM saying that I believe it would be a fun way of playing the class.

And yes, fully buffed Necro summons are in fact better than fully buffed true Summoner summons in base stats, so they would hurt very much. And Ledaa is right, Necromancers get level 12 Servitor heal, which does work on Necro summons.

Get used to it man, any suggestions get seriously taken way out of context on these forums and then they get lost in a who gets what, and what goes where flame war.

Good ideas though.

Heh, you guys realize I was only kidding about turning into a DiabloII Necromancer thing right? Though I must admit, I still miss that breed of Necromancers. Necro's in L2 are ok, but they surely are not the Kings of the Undead. :(
